I have a great love for classical piano. I have a unique method for introducing music theory that allows my students to grasp the hows and whys of various pieces. I have great respect for the virtuosos and master teachers that have come before us. While I work on scales and cadences with my students - I also set up a program specifically geared towards what my students (and/or their parents) want to learn. I can be very formal (because I recognize its value) and very relaxed (because I know that this type of teaching is important for some people). Classical piano is not a walk in the park; there is a reason many people do not move to the next level. I make my instruction easy-to-understand and enjoyable. Well, the music speaks for itself - there are many classical pieces that are irresistible! Also, if preparing for a local proficiency review, I can assist you in accomplishing your goals. I use the Royal Conservatory Music Development Program from the Carnegie Foundation for a ...

All my three kids have enjoyed piano lessons with Marty. The oldest for more than two years! We are moving out of the country, so unfortunately we have to leave her; I wish we could take her with us! She is such a dedicated teacher. My kids have learned so much from her, not only playing the piano but also music theory. She is also flexible in scheduling, so we could always find a time that worked well for our busy family schedule. We will miss her!

Phil is a consummate musician and is extremely knowledgeable and patient. He helped me to arrange several songs and encouraged me to write my own arrangements, as that really helps one better understand the instrument. I loved our lessons on learning all the scales and modes, too.

"Being a beginner (guitar) I attended my first class with a positive mind and no set expectations. I left class joyous, as Billy mastered to introduce me to guitar theory in such a simplified manner, which made it easy to grasp. I attended my second class last week, and feel that I have advanced/internalized greatly in such a short period. Further, I appreciate that Billy has always been prompt to attend my inquiries. Based on the aforementioned experiences, I look forward to my upcoming classes, and I’m very curious to know the end result - without hesitation, I'm certain it will be positive. Billy is a very gifted guitar teacher, hope he can teach for many years to come - as many can benefit from his great talents."

"Michelle is great! She is very professional and patient, but a couple things that truly make her stand out.

One, she is always willing to record an accompaniment for the song of your choice so that you can easily work on your own. Sometimes she even does a couple versions. Better still, when I was really struggling she tailor made exercises for me so that I could improve.

Two, she explains things very well. For example, I struggled with visualizing how the physical parts of my voice interact with each other and what physically happens when I sing. Her explanation combined with the diagrams from her singing books allowed me to finally make the connection.

You can’t go wrong with Michelle!"

I had Gfire as a teacher for 8+ lessons, went from knowing absolutely nothing about Piano and playing but now have a understanding of the basics on piano and how its played and can play a song or 2 well. Gfire, has a simple yet affective style of teaching and immediately after the lesson as have it already printed on my brain so it isn't difficult to remember. Thank you Gfire"
