I've been teaching piano for 10 years. Within the first few lessons students will be able to read basic music notation and as time goes on they will be able to confidently play beginning songs of their own choosing. I typically use Alfred or Faber books which builds playing skills and teaches music theory.

I have been personally playing the piano for almost 40 years. I use several approaches depending on student's specific learning process and goals. No one leaves their first lesson without playing something on the piano.

I've been teaching piano for over 20 years and emphasize the fundamental skills in the beginning: how to easily read music, play in time, sight-reading, basic music theory and basic scales and technique. I'm a versatile performing musician and composer myself and so love to teach all styles including classical, jazz, rock, blues and more! We have a student showcase party every year where all the students get together to perform and showcase their skills.

I've been playing piano ever since I was in elementary school, and it's proven a valuable asset as I've continued my career as a musician. No musician can afford not to know piano, let alone how to read and play sheet music, and anyone who wants to pursue music, or just the arts in general always benefits from it.

I enjoy providing a foundation of good technique and music theory. I teach the traditional method of reading music. I welcome adult beginners as well. I also encourage serious voice students to add piano to their studies to improve their musicianship, help them learn their material independently, and enable them to play for themselves in practice
