Hello everyone! I've been singing since the age of 3 and performing since the age of 6. I am not only an experienced music teacher with a passion for music and teaching, but an experienced performer, and songwriter. I started performing at a young age with the Columbia School of Theatrical Arts, and as I grew older I studied different techniques such as speech level singing, classical, and even techniques from Brett Manning, one of the most amazing vocal coaches today who teaches artists such as Haley Williams from Paramore. I have experience performing many styles of music, and also was a voice major in college. The students I teach will benefit from my contemporary techniques, and can learn to sing in almost any style of music they choose.

Do you want to learn how to sing your favorite song just like the artist?
I can teach you the techniques! Or how about how to make a cover song your own based off of your own unique voice? We can work together to find, develop, and build the amazing qualities that you have in your voice. I will not only work on aspects of what you would like to improve on with your voice personally, but I will make an individual plan for you that will dramatically improve your voice! I will work with you individually to strengthen any weakness you may have in a fun environment. I am fun, encouraging and motivating! When asking students to do any vocal exercises, I will explain what the certain exercise does to improve your voice so that you can have the knowledge you need to be a good vocalist, and not just know how to sing properly. You will learn many things in lessons and what I teach you will vary on where you are vocally.

Lynzi is a passionate and fun teacher that will give you all the tools you need to improve your vocal abilities! First she'll find your range and work out a warm-up routine, which she'll fine-tune as necessary, that will challenge you on different vowels, scales, jumps, crescendos/decrescendos, etc. She's also very helpful with body/jaw relaxation and breath support techniques that will help you develop your optimal tone and control. She's eager to work with you closely on songs and help you bring out your own personal flair in your performances and continually encourage your musical growth. Music Director of the Chicago Philharmonia Orchestra since 1985, Farobag has also served as Managing Director of the University of Chicago Performing Artists Series from 1989 through 2002 and principal conductor of its resident professional ensembles. A skilled interpreter of Baroque literature as well, Farobag continues in his capacity as Artistic Advisor to the Baroque Masterplayers, a virtuoso ensemble that concatenates period performance techniques with modern instruments thus creating a unique voice within the realm of 17th and 18th- century repertoire.

A double graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the University of Rochester, Farobag studied under Anastasia Jempelis, a pioneer of Suzuki violin pedagogy in the United States. In addition to the Suzuki curriculum, he is also associated with the Royal Conservatory Music Devel
opment Program that sets a national standard of musical achievement in various fields.

Befitting his penchant for encouraging artistic interest amongst younger members of his community, Farobag is also the principal conductor of the Zoroastrian Symphony Orchestra that offers a unique mixture of young and seasoned professionals sitting side-by-side in a strictly professional setting. Sheer technique is necessary but insufficient to play an instrument well. Aural skills, that include the study of functional tonality and voice-leading are important factors that impart musicality. This is of great import if the prospective musician wants the audience to truly enjoy his or her performance !

Whether it be the 3 Rs or preparation in the performing arts, a remarkable instructor must go well beyond the subject matter at hand and help imbue the student with a spirit of wonder that, in due time, will foster enthusiasm necessary for excellence.

I've been playing a few instruments for 23 years, and finally decided to get into violin. Farobag made me realize that I know next to nothing about the violin, and there is so much to learn. I played only a few notes in my first lesson, but his instruction was worth every penny. I am very excited for the next lesson and look forward to learning everything I can from Farobag. Highly recommended.

Mr. Cooper is an experienced teacher. He teaches piano, violin & vocal from basic to advance level. My son has been taking piano classes from him for the past 3+ years. He loves to go to Mr. Cooper's classes. The foremost quality in Mr. Cooper is that he seeks perfection and tries to imbibe the same in his students. He encourages all his students to perform their best and is extremely patient in dealing with his students. Mr. Cooper lets me sit in my son's lessons and I got my 101 on classical music with these sessons. I can appreciate what my son plays and also now able to appreciate classical music in general.
Mr. Cooper encourages all his students to participate in IMA annual contests and puts a lot of effort in preparing his students for the same.

Singing/Audition and Resume Coach:

Lessons begin with stretching, vocal warm ups, scales, and extensive breath work, as well as resolving any tensions that may be hindering your vocal production. I then through collaboration with the student, work on beginning repertoire that is suited for the voice, and challenging at the same time. I record all lessons, and email them to the student so that one has the opportunity to review the warm ups, and hear the improvement in the voice, I also write a review of every lesson, with notated warm-ups and a list of "To Do's" for the week so that the student will have a structured practice week. I provide music, and if needed recordings of the pieces so that the student can take the materials back to their homes and practice them on their own.

I track the range of
the voice, and usually within a month it will have improved by at least 4 notes either higher or lower.

It is important to note that learning voice is a highly individualized journey, each person will have their own set of strengths and weaknesses, as a teacher it is my job to asses this in a person and craft a curriculum, and style that will fit those individual needs.

I am also adept at navigating local opportunities for students in the Seattle Theater world. I have had students receive callbacks at 5th avenue, perform for Seattle Childrens Theater. Young Actors Institute, Driftwood Players, win multiple pageants and score high in talent as well as acting opportunities in movies and modeling. I am a performer as well and had to navigate through the college system as well as the Seattle theater system and can provide much guidance to those interested with resume, repertoire and audition coaching.

There is no feeling in the world than the freedom and beauty of singing, it is a joy to hear in my students, and very fulfilling to teach this kind of wonderfully positive experience to people of all ages!

I received my B.A. in vocal performance from San Francisco Conservatory of Music in 2009. I am a classically trained singer, however I enjoy all genre’s of music and firmly believe having a classical base in a singing technique will enrich any style of music you wish to work toward. I am devoted to healthy singing, and unlocking your true timbre and voice with extensive breath, and vowel work. As a graduate from a highly competitive music institution I can help in guiding students along the right path of pursuing this art form at a collegiate level.

Theory/Song Writing techniques:

For some students learning music is just as much a part of the lesson as learning to sing. I love teaching people of all ages how to read music, so that the student can be an independent teacher for themselves and learn music on their own at home, this I think is very important in order to improve skills for singing, the faster the student can learn music, the more time can be spent working on technique and improving the sound of the voice.

I graduated from a prestigious Conservatory and had to take very advanced theory classes in order to receive my degree. I also played flute and oboe in orchestra for 10 years, and taught myself how to play piano. I have assisted some of my students interested in writing their own music on chord progressions, and have offered my musical expertise on their compositions. There is nothing like being involved in the creative process of composing and I love supporting my students that decide to explore this art form.

Speaking Lessons:

I have a studio in Bellevue where I work closely with the transgender community as a vocal coach to feminize my clients voices transitioning from male to female. It is a wonderful process and anyone interested please do contact me!

I also teach language diction classes. I am fluent in IPA (international phonetics alphabet) in English, French, German, Italian, and Spanish. I can help with accent reduction in English or pronunciation in any of the above languages.

Soprano Jordan M. kicked off 2015 with a role debut of Nancy In Albert Herring with Vashon Opera. She was thrilled to make her 5th Avenue Main Stage debut in The Sound of Music, and to sing in Cry To Heaven part of 5th Avenue's New Works Department, which was a collaboration with writer Anne Rice and academy award nominated composer Matthew Wilder (whose credits include the music of Mulan).  She joined Tyrolean Opera this last summer on a full Scholarship in Maurach, Austria on Lake Achen (Achensee), in a role debut of Gretel in Humperdincks Hansel und Gretel. 

In 2014 she was excited to be in the world premiere of Yoshinaka, by Garrett Fisher with the Fisher Ensemble as Tomoe.  It was an adaptation of the traditional Japanese Tales of Ise, which made it’s world premiere at Seattle’s ACT Theater “Central Heating Lab Series”.  It was a noteworthy collaboration with Munenori Takeda, and The Takeda Noh troupe which consists of members who are Living National Treasures in Japan for their Noh artistry, this collaboration was featured on the front page of The Arts section of the Seattle Times.  

Other notable credits from 2014 include 2nd Lady in The Magic Flute,  Rosina, in Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Tacoma Opera and a recording for Kakitsubata, with The Garrett Fisher Ensemble for Jack Straw Production Studios.  In spring of 2014 Ms. McClellan sang Papagena and 2nd Lady with Skagit Opera, and  N.O.I.S.E. (Northwest opera in schools) for their Washington tour, as well as various Rossini arias with Bremerton Symphony, and two solo recitals with Second-City Chamber Series, and Music Northwest.  She also continues to be involved in recording sessions for Hollywood’s top video game soundtracks, including Starcraft and World of Warcraft.

Jordan is equally at home singing song repertoire as well as early music. She was chosen to participate in Lieder Alive! Singers Studio with Håkan Hagegård in San Francisco, CA where she delved deeper into lieder classics, culminating in a public masterclass.  Ms. McClellan has since been invited to sing several recitals with, Second City Chamber Series, in Lakewood, WA, Music Northwest, in Seattle, Wa, Hearthstone Chapel Recital Series, in Seattle, WA, Skagit Opera, at Lairmont Manor, as well as with Tacoma Opera.  Her recital repertoire varies from Italian Art Song, to Fauré Chanson, Lieder, American Songbook Classics, as well as Irish Folk Songs.  She has particpiated in Accademia D’amore, a summer program lead by Grammy Award winner Stephen Stubbs who is  devoted to educating singers about early music, baroque dance and rhetoric.  Most recently she participated in Bach Meisterkurs, in Leipzig Germany (Bach’s hometown) to learn the art of stylistically singing Bach’s passions.  

Past credits include a 3 month tour with Portland opera singing Hansel in Hansel and Gretel, Phylo in the West Coast premier of Pénélope by Fauré with Vespertine Opera, and her Italian concert debut in Urbania, Italy at the Teatro Bramante.  

Her upcoming engagements include, starring in a local independent film as an opera singer, a role debut of Adalgisa in Skagit Opera’s Norma, singing a solo recital with Music Northwest, a performance with the Fisher Ensemble at Folklife Festival, as well as a performer at the Sankt Goar International Music Festival in Germany.

My name is Evelyn and I'm 33 yo. I'm also transgender MTF and have always wanted to sing with my new voice. Jordan is incredibly patient and shows a lot of care for what I have tried to accomplish. Without her I would have been too afraid the let my singing voice be heard. I'm so lucky to have found a professional like her to help me find my singing voice during the journey of my transition. I highly recommend her to anyone who is new to singing or wants to improve their existing voice. She's worth every minute.

My specialty is voice but I also teach acoustic guitar, ukulele and songwriting for the student who desires to develop their own style and create their own songs. For students who are just beginning their vocal journey or are busy performers who want to improve healthy technique and sing with more confidence; or perhaps a worship leader or backup singer is struggling with vocal strain, my goal is to help them find vocal freedom and maintain an amazing, healthy voice that will confidently meet their expectations, year after year, in every situation, every time.

As an active performing vocalist, musician, songwriter, and Christian worship artist and band lea
der, I understand the demands and challenges of a busy performance calendar, singing sets for back-to-back audiences day after day and week after week, and the need for a vocalist to find the vocal freedom that will produce confidence in their voice no matter what the venue.

The first steps to mastering vocal freedom are the building blocks for vocal success. Whether the student is a child or an adult, with little or no training, it is my goal to make singing an enjoyable and freeing experience.

Singing with complete vocal freedom and confidence can seem very elusive. Surprisingly, it's not as elusive as one might think! Vocal freedom is within reach and most students experience a measure of it within the few first lessons, some even gaining a full octave in their range in their first lessons. Using a systematic method incorporating the study of good vocal technique and working on songs the student loves to sing makes learning more fun and gives the student a greater appreciation of music as a whole while encouraging a passion for music that lasts a lifetime. I encourage and teach sight reading, and theory basics especially for those students who are considering music as a profession.

*** Lesson Details ***
Each student learns with material that will be divided into step-by-step doable lessons so they can be sure to learn the best techniques and material along the way. Sheet music and lesson books are provided at a minimal additional cost.

*** Studio Equipment ***
My home-studio is bright and open and set up with an upright piano, full length mirror, music stand, iPad with appropriate applications, guitar, mandolin, ukulele, and computer for recording and playback. Parents are welcome to sit in on lessons or wait for their children in the adjacent room. I also may provide a follow-up email which includes any recordings and lesson notes from the current lesson.

As the student progresses I also provide a PA system to teach mic technique and build performance confidence.

I ask that students come prepared with the following items to their lessons.
~ Bottled water
~ A ring binder with paper for notes and a zippered pouch to keep tools and handouts.
~ A flash drive for recording transfers or they can use their phone or other recording device to record their lessons.

I honestly love my students and love teaching! It's such a privilege to be a part of their musical journey. I specialize in church worship vocals, choir, a capella, show tunes and musical theater. I teach free, healthy vocal technique which enables each student to explore and focus on different styles of singing. Guitarist Philip L. was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida, where he began his musical studies at a young age. He was accepted to Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, named by the Grammy Foundation as the top performing arts high school in the nation, and after graduating, received a scholarship to attend Stetson University. Under the direction of Dr. Stephen Robinson, the head of the guitar department at Stetson University, he was able to refine his skills and learn a great deal about the interpretation of music on the guitar.
After receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Music, Philip became an instructor at University High School in Orange City, Florida. There he directed the guitar program, which he built, and, outside of teaching, Philip performed professionally (guitar and voice) around Central Florida in various groups and styles
of music, including Rock, Pop, and Jazz. Since then, he was awarded a full scholarship to the University of Akron as a Teaching Assistant and later received his Master’s under the tutelage of Stephen Aron. Philip is currently working towards his Doctorate at FSU. Philip has played a number of feature concerts and masterclasses with great guitarists of our time, such as David Russell, Andrew York, Dusan Bogdanovic, Roland Dyens, Michael Chapdelaine, and many other artists.

The first step will be evaluating the student's musical and technical skill level, then I build a curriculum from that point. As an example, a beginning student would learn how to read music, play basic rhythms, use proper left and right hand technique, and the notes in the first position on individual strings. After I have evaluated the current level of the student and their musical interest, I will begin to move my curriculum around their various needs.

I have experience working with people individually and in groups, as an undergrad Psychology intern, a cognitive skills trainer, a counseling student, an adjunct instructor and an academic coach. As an undergrad intern, I worked with elementary school children as a tutor and a mentor. As a counseling student, I have worked with various populations, from grade school students (grades 4-8; making healthier choices) to adults (stress, anxiety, career decisions, bereavement, etc.) to older adults in hospice care. I have facilitated psycho-educational groups with individuals suffering from a mental illness as well. Lastly, I worked with college students at a local u
niversity as an academic coach. In this role, I helped students process concerns and create goals regarding developing time management skills, coping strategies for anxiety, study skills, information processing and motivation. These experiences have helped me gain a continually growing understanding of facilitating the learning process with individuals and with groups.

I teach student development classes (critical thinking, motivation theory, study strategies, time management, stress management, etc.) at a local community college, I teach a learning and development class (views of learning, motivation, the memory process, memory strategies, critical issues in education, etc.) at a local university, and I work as an academic coach at another local university.

My approach to personal development coaching is based on my therapeutic orientation called Gestalt Therapy (GT). The underlying idea of GT is that awareness is the key initiator of change. Awareness allows one to discern where such things as anxiety, unhappiness, ambivalence, etc. stem from. I believe that it is important for every human being to go through such a process so that peace and awareness within brings peace and awareness to the outer world. I am inspired by and influenced by the ideas of Carl Jung (Analytical Psychology- particularly the Psychological Types) and Carl Rogers (Client-Centered Therapy). I help facilitate the process in a genuinely humane, empathic and professional manner. If interested, please, see the details I have provided under Life Coaching. I work with grade school students and adults. I am absolutely loyal to the idea of confidentiality; therefore, I ensure that information of anybody I work with is not at risk of being shared with a third party.

ACADEMIC COACHING/STUDY SKILLS: Using my passion for education and my insight gained in my few years (so far) immersed in the world of education, I help students (grade school and college) develop areas of their academic life needing improvement. As suggested above, I help students develop time management, learning strategies, coping strategies for anxiety, and motivation (i.e. help them to see the value of learning). Though it is a valuable tool, it is presently not a service that is offered at most schools in the area.

WRITING: As a lover of reading and writing, I understand the value of expressing thoughts, feelings and ideas. As a writer, my focus is on creative writing (mostly short stories presently) and essays. Given my undergraduate and postgraduate experiences, I have written many academic papers, in APA format and in MLA format. I edit and revise papers as well as help individuals develop their writing voice, develop their ideas, develop an approach to structuring writing, maintain consistency with writing and provide genuine feedback. Beyond that, my help with writing is limited to the goals of the the individual.

TWO IMPORTANT THINGS: I strive to maintain a positive collaboration with those I work with. I believe this is one of the most important parts of the process. Also, I promote the idea of Soul. To me, Soul is any sincere display of passion. With Soul, we perform in a most genuine and graceful way. I personally believe that whether one is playing the piano, writing a story, living life, singing, giving a speech or anything (necessarily peaceful), one should do it with Soul.

LASTLY, I am open to: Going beyond my travel radius, at an agreed-upon adjusted rate; working with multiple students, at an agreed-upon adjusted rate; meeting at a public place that is convenient, if it is preferred; and meeting at a student's location, depending on the preferred time and the distance.

I have to give Andrew 5 stars for the first lesson. He really cares about meeting goals specific to the person he is teaching. He started out with some basic exorcises that I can do at home and then we talked about how the lessons can be structured in the future for what I think I need to improve. He was very nice and I highly recommend him!

*The Humanities*
The reason so many people go screaming into the night when confronted with lessons in things like history, or government, or English for that matter, are all the names and dates to memorize. I don't teach that way. We begin with things you want (or need) to know. From there, we cover how those things affected other things, It's a huge world out there, and how we got here from where we started is a wonderful and complicated trip. History doesn't happen in a vacuum, and we learn who we are by knowing where we come from.

*Papers*
Obviously I won't write your paper for you, but I will show you how and where to start your research (and how to sort it as well). I will also proof-read for grammar and/or organizational errors and show you how to structure it in general terms.

*Drama*
I have acted, I have directed. From the community to professional levels. We will talk about character creation, about staging, about working with your director as well as your fellow actors. We will mostly brainstorm, and you will be able to experiment in vision as well as technique.

He has been an amazing. My kids are taking the ISEE test and he is helping them prepare for the verbal reasoning and essay portion. He researched the test, came up with a strategic plan for each kid based on the strengths and weaknesses, and prepared lessons appropriately.
