Lessons with me are like playing a video game that trains you to be good at music. Every exercise we do will generate a score, and you can practice between lessons in order to “beat your high score” during the next one. I've had tons of young students achieve college level proficiency across multiple domains, and can promise you that you will see a huge increase in your technique, music theory, and keyboard knowledge in a very short period of time using my simple and fun program.

Beyond that, one of my favorite things to do with my students is to teach them the concepts and techniques at the core of their favorite music and use that knowledge to help them write their own original songs.

Ask me anything!

I started taking guitar lessons from Morgan June of 2021. When I started I had a basic grasp of the guitar. After 4 months of lessons with Morgan my playing became exponentially better. He was able to explain how everything works together in a fun and exciting way to where I always looked forward to my next lesson. I would recommend Morgan to anyone no matter what their music skill is!

Morgan has tremendously helped my guitar skills through weekly progress tracking. He is very easy to learn from and is a fun guy to jam with! Overall great instructor.

I have always wanted to learn to play the piano but just never took the time to find a teacher. I tried self study and watching videos but it just wasn’t doing the trick. I’ve been getting lessons from Morgan for a while now and it has been AWESOME! He’s super passionate about music so any questions you ask gets him even more excited to teach! I went from not knowing ANYTHING about playing piano to being able to play a song that I have always wanted to learn to play! Morgan is able to integrate learning foundational piano playing with playing your favorite songs. I would HIGHLY recommend Morgan if you want to learn to play piano!

I have been playing piano as a secondary instrument for 15 years, and I love sharing my knowledge with others. Music is a passion and a learned talent that requires repetition and patience. I can help guide you toward whatever your music goals are, whether you want to play professionally, in a band, or just at home in your spare time.

In just a few lessons you will learn the basic keys on the piano and correct finger positions. As we go on you will be able to play scales and chords. Finally you will learn how to read music and play all of your favorite songs. I start with the legendary John Thompson's Modern Course for the Piano, Alfred's Piano Book, and A Dozen a Day Piano Book for kids. I teach classical, jazz, blues, and other styles of music. Both kids and adults are welcome. Take that next step in becoming a better pianist, and let's have some fun!

Thank you

I've completed about 1 year of lessons with Carolyn, and my experience has been exceptional.

Carolyn is insightful and encouraging. She knows when to offer critical feedback and when to offer positive feedback based on her student's temperament. She also paces progress based on the student's aptitude, too.

I'd recommend Carolyn for any beginning string musician without any hesitation.

“We teach music not so that children (or anyone else) can make beautiful music,
But because music makes beautiful people”.

I try hard to present students with a solid, broad based approach with an emphasis on understanding the fundamentals of musical comprehension, music reading, musical memory, and ear development. These are essential to playing and enjoyment of any instrument! To this end we cover theory, music history, performance, technique and practical application. These basics are supplemented and reinforced by the monthly group sessions, several annual field trips, access to regional, state and national music competitions and performances, as well as the formal Student Evaluations each Spring. I have a full music lab, an extensive library of music and music reference materials and up to date postings on local free or low cost musical events While I tend to emphasize classical music and technique, we will also cover a ...

I have taught piano for 50 years, tutoring approximately 2,000 adults and children, many which are professional musicians today. I have been a fulltime teacher for 25 years, residing in the Phoenix Arizona area. My teaching style is casual yet structured. My youngest student is 3 years old..my oldest is 82 years old. Children are taught systematic...adults are taught according to their goals. I evaluate each student, setting goals and helping them accomplish them. I offer two recitals with students each year. I have also written an adult beginner piano course, "How To Play Piano in 12 Weeks", with a guarantee that 6 favorite songs will be played in that time. All these lessons are taught on-line. Teaching is not only my passion, it is my purpose!

About Kenneth

I have been teaching professionally since 1965 I am also a professional) jazz and gospel pianist. I perform primarily in the Phoenix area but have performances throughout the year throughout the United States. I have written and produced a musical, "Kleo the Kat", which includes 10 original songs.

"More people should know about Take Lessons.

My Instructor, Terri, is knowledgeable, patient and flexible. I am a professional, mature student with a super busy schedule who had never played a musical instrument before. Terri has been able to provide the knowledge and encouragement that I need, along with the enjoyment of playing the piano. I could not have asked for a better fit. Terri is valuable to any age group."

"Quite honestly, there aren’t enough complimentary words I can use to describe our experience thus far with Enoch. My daughter was very nervous about taking piano lessons. However, Enoch has made the lessons not only productive, but fun! He is extremely patient, and never makes her feel self conscious. The biggest testament to Enoch’s teaching is the fact that my daughter smiles the entire lesson, laughs and talks about the lesson for the forty minute drive home, and is motivated to practice, which frankly, surprised me. We couldn’t ask for a better instructor, and I would highly recommend him to anyone interested in taking up the piano."

"We would highly recommend Mr. Troy.

We were unsure of what kind of instructor Mr. Troy was when we initially signed up with him. While he appeared to be a very well educated musician and accomplished composer, we did not know if he would have a good chemistry to teach piano to my daughter. As it turns out, Mr. Troy is not only a talented pianist but also a good communicator. He responds to our questions and concerns very promptly. In our first lesson, Mr. Troy immediately discovered my daughter's recurring piano issues after giving her a diagnostic test. During each lesson, he explains the piano theories and points out what technical skills that my daughter will learn and need to practice during the following week. He does not just teach her how to play piano, but he challenges her mind and teaches her the correct mental approach to playing piano. We are very happy to have a great instructor like Mr. Troy."

"Lana is my daughter's third (and hopefully last) piano teacher. Lana is the BEST instructor! She is loving (yet stern), positive, effective, and truly gets the best from her students.

My daughter has taken a keener interest in playing piano since being under Lana's tutelage (she has played for 7 years, this is her third year with Lana). Whether she's playing Beethoven, Chopin, John Legend or Joni Mitchell, Lana helps my daughter conquer her pieces with confidence and pride (once the pieces are learned).

We have had the old school, hard-core, drill sargeant type of teacher and the lackadaisical, low expectation and low output type of teacher. Lana is neither. Lana focuses on technique, reading music, musicality, presence, and instilling a love of music in her students. And she gets results. Not only has my daughter's skill level improved, her attitude toward piano has completely changed.

Any child would be lucky to have Lana as his/her teacher. We cannot recommend her highly enough!"

How to Improvise on Piano and Keyboard | Exercises to Try

Forgo the sheet music and try your hand at improvising! Get started with this exercise from Tucker, GA teacher Linda L...   Improvising, in music, is making up your own music on the spot. It is truly “playing with” music, in the more common sense of the word “play.” It’s fun, creative, and, well, playful. When it comes to piano improvisation, I tend to think of jazz, blues, and rock. But one can definitely improvise in any musical style. There is a lot you can learn wh …
