Math is great because there's always one specific answer! My goal with students is to help them understand the path from a problem to its solution. Math is a tool to help develop reasoning and solution seeking skills.
The unique thing that sets me apart as a tutor in any subject is that I first work with the student, and I gently guide them to find the answer on their own.
About Joshua
Whatever subject or instrument I teach, I celebrate students' successes; and I enjoy helping learners have new aha moments.
The majority of my students take guitar, bass guitar, or Spanish lessons. I am an educator and help my students learn other skills and knowledge sets too.
I went to Ohio State University for college, earned a BA in Music Education, and graduated Cum Laude. I also spent 4 years in the Ohio State University Marching Band.
Through my healing journey, I've developed patience, insight, and understanding for my students' learning processes.
I'm excited to help you incorporate new skills into your life!

Explaining math is one of my favorite things. I have a math minor, but, more importantly, I know how to explain things in an accessible way.
I have been tutoring in various subjects for over 15 years. See my profile for further information on my background.
About Robin
I am a chemistry and math nerd who has also taken a few engineering classes. I have a B.S. in chemistry with a minor in mathematics and an M.S. in chemistry, both from Baylor University. I also taught chemistry for five years at Boise State University. All my standardized test scores are from my first time taking the test with very little preparation. I actually enjoy taking tests (weird I know).
I am very skilled at helping others to learn the topics presented, improve their test-taking strategies, and improve their score. You must "think like the test writers" and be prepared for every twist and turn they will throw your way. My schedule is ve

Many years at work applying the principles of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry in engineering have given me a deep understanding of these concepts. I have gained the ability to communicate mathematical concepts to students, as shown by the success of my students.
Instead of just giving finished solutions to the student, my approach is to ask increasingly specific questions to help the student focus on the concept and figure out the answer. In this way, the student practices and learns successful methods for solving problems. Showing a student how to compute the height of a tree without having to directly measure it, for example, increases the students' interest and success in math.
I enjoy helping students perform challenging, detailed, and valuable work exceeding their expectations.
