I have been teaching young children for many years and will take beginning piano students as young as 5 years old. While I was a public school music teacher, I used Orff-Shulwerk strategies for teaching music. This approach to music teaching and learning is appropriate for preschool through middle school grades. These strategies are based on the way children learn: sing, chant, clap, dance and keep a beat on anything near at hand.

About Jill

I have been a professional musician for over 40 years and have taught beginning piano and oboe privately and in group classes. As of March 2021, I am fully vaccinated and have allowed students to come back into my studio who are vaccinated. Upon entering my studio you will be required to remove sho

Morgan has done an outstanding job tutoring our 13 year old this year on the piano! He’s trusting, reliable and consistent with his lessons and philosophies. Our son connects with him personally and also has learned a tremendous amount in a short time! We’re looking forward to him advancing in piano and then moving onto guitar. Morgan is brilliant in both arenas and a pleasure to have in our home. Highly recommended!

Morgan worked with me to better understand how to work with composers to score films, and he even ended up scoring one of my passion projects. His depth of knowledge is outstanding, and has helped me create stronger connections with professionals in the music industry. If you work with Morgan, whatever level you're at, you won't be disappointed.

“We teach music not so that children (or anyone else) can make beautiful music,
But because music makes beautiful people”.
– Anonymous & my favorite quote

I try hard to present students with a solid, broad based approach with an emphasis on understanding the fundamentals of musical comprehension, music reading, musical memory, and ear development. These are essential to playing and enjoyment of any instrument! To this end we cover theory, music history, performance, technique and practical application. These basics are supplemented and reinforced by the monthly group sessions, several annual field trips, access to regional, state and national music competitions and performances, as well as the formal Student Evaluations each Spring. She makes sure you have proper fingering, technique, timing and theory and does it in such a fun way you hardly notice that it's work at all! If you want to experiment with chords or accompany your singing or learn to accompany another vocalist, she covers it! If you want to compose or write songs, she's got you!
