About Deron
I am a San Diego native and have shown my paintings extensively throughout San Diego. It wasn't until several years after I graduated from UCLA in 1994 with a Bachelors in Fine Arts, that I really tried to show my work in galleries. Most recently, my work has been in shows at Project X Gallery, The Museum of the Living Artist, The San Diego Art Department, Sanctuary Gallery, Limbo Fine Arts, and Sushi Gallery. I have just started to show in other cities, most recently at the Rialto Theater in Corpus Christi, Texas and The Nico Gallery in Seattle, Washington.

Along with my painting career, I have created children’s book and magazine illustrations, done graphic design work, and taught others how to express themselves creatively through art. I have been creating curricula for children’s art programs and teaching them. I also have been te
aching adults how to paint at the San Diego Art Department for the past 10 years and, in the past two years, with Painting &Vino.

Through my decade of teaching painting, I have honed a teaching style that encourages students to balance creativity and imagination with technique and skill. I strive to help students discover a process in which they are able to express themselves creatively while also teaching paint application techniques, color theory and the Elements and Principles of design. I am often in front of 50+ people at a time presenting my painting techniques within a limited amount of time.

I look forward to coaching you whether you're someone who hasn't painted since you were a kid or you're a seasoned painter who just needs a little help, encouragement or direction.

It was great! Deron had me pick out a subject and send him the image ahead of time. He had it printed out and ready to go when I got there, along with the paint colors, brushes and everything. Very impressed with his organization. He went at just the right speed for me and we actually made good progress. I'm looking forward to the next lesson!

About Sarah
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Sarah and I am honored you have chosen to look at my profile. Finding the right teacher is so important! I always try to make sure that I accommodate what is best for each individual student when I approach teaching. Before we get into my teach methods, let me tell you a bit about myself and my background.
I graduated from Lees-McRae College in May 2017 with a BFA in musical theater and a minor in art and design. I know at a glance it may be overwhelming how many classes I teach. You see, as Musical Theatre Major I had to learn a VAST amount of topics. I studied many forms of dance, took advance makeup courses, vocal training, acting, along with all of the sub categories that go with it; not to mention with my minor in art and design I know my way around with a paint brush/camera/computer. Art, in all form
s are has always been my way of expressing, feeling, and embracing life.
When I had my internship at the Arkansas Arts Center Children's Theatre and I had to learn ALL aspects of theatre and I had the pleasure to work with kids every day.

I was training American Sign Language at Northern Virginia Community College back in 2012. In 2015 I studied under an ASL master from Gallaudet University. I have continued to further my knowledge of ASL every day. I was recently the ASL captain at work who helped make sure all signs were done correctly and expressed properly.

My goal is to help you learn what you are craving to know! I try to not charge too high for lessons, I know that this is something that is for fun and is not always a possibility so I try to keep it at a lowish price so that everyone has a chance to learn. I am very flexible to schedules. I am willing to have a regular time or switching it up weekly; I have students who travel for a living so they are always on a different time zone; no matter the obstacle I will make it work for you!
Something that is great to know about me is that I never stop training, pursuing growth and knowledge. I read books in these various fields to learn more and more, take master classes, and train with my own vocal coaches. I think art - on any platform, is a great way to get out of your head, free your mind, and open up yourself. So this can be for professional training, a hobby you always wanted to pursue, or a dream you wanted to chase after.

In my class with you, or you child, I will make an individualized lesson plan that focus around what skills you already have, what skills you aim to improve/gain, and how you learn. I am very familiar with the fact that we are ALL different, which means we will all learn DIFFERENTLY. I am willing to explain something in as many ways as one needs in order to understand. I like to think of my lessons as a “safe place” to explore, have fun, grow, and be okay with making mistakes. We will always start with the basics, understand the core of the craft - for example in singing that would be our vocal anatomy and how it all connects together. I use props to help make the concept more visual and graspable as well as diagrams. This is not something someone will pick up in one lesson, so don’t come in saying “I can’t”, you can, you just have to learn HOW. I will show you the how. Remember, this is a learning process, we must embrace each step of our growth.
-----
Some background of how I came to do what I do:
I have been working professionally for theatres for five years now; which has had me living in various towns in NC, OH, AR, and traveling nationwide for tours. I have a lot of experience under my belt for my years. I began taking performance classes as young as age 2 when I started ballet, then I began singing in choir in third grade. I started being in awe of sign language when I saw an interpreter working her magic around age ten and I asked my mom for a sign language book. Expanding my knowledge is what I do for fun, so when you pick me you pick someone who is constantly growing and learning more which will ultimately benefit the student.

I teach a variety of classes that, for the most part, circle around the arts! Some of my classes include, but are not limited to: Acting, Child Acting, Improv Audition Prep, Various styles of “Singing” classes, Ear Training, Musical Theatre, Music Performance, Various “Art” classes, Facial Exercises (Which is great for singers, and those who speak a lot day to day to help relieve tension in the face), and more!
For an explanation on each class, I will be recording a video that describes them and posting that on here soon! There is a video trailer of me singing and dancing that is currently available. If you want to know anything more at all please do not hesitate to send me a message and I will respond as quickly as I possibly can!

I understand and honor everyone has a unique way of approaching and looking at things...which doesn't mean I won't challenge you to try another way! Bob Ross to Salvador Dali. Open medium and maybe we'll try some new ones to find your unique method. Realistic to stylized. (Sorry Boo, no abstract)

About Zoe
Zoe began her career as an artist at Walt Disney World in Orlando, FL. Bent on pursuing her career, she returned to Ohio to achieve her art Degree. Eventually, she found her way to Los Angeles, working in the dark side of Hollywood, as a storyboard and concept artist in indie horror on such films as the “Hatchet” movie series and “The Collector.” A diverse artist, Zoe spent 8 years designing collectibles and creating original souvenirs for such notable clients as Disney, Hard Rock Cafe and Sea World. She finds a strange balance between making cute Disney characters by day and planning out slashing people to bits by night.

Zoe has always been an innovator of process and assisting peers, colleges and clients in more efficient ways to create art. Not your typical shy artist, she has been a regular of sci-fi, comic and similar circuit conv
entions as a panelist and fun teacher of acrylics for a Friday night Paint and Wine. Currently, she has returned home to SoCal and building new and exciting ventures in the art world.

She uses Illustrator and Photoshop nearly every day for the past 13 years along with her lifetime of skills as a traditional artist to accomplish a WIDE variety of tasks from more artistic to technical layouts.

...and you will have fun!

I have taught acrylic painting to large groups, and can walk you through a painting in a similar fashion!

About Amber
I am a professional freelance artist, and owner of Leola Studios. I have been doing custom artwork for over 15 years, and have several contract jobs with businesses on my resume. I have an Associates Degree in Fine Arts/Animation from Academy of Art University.

I specialize in photo realism, and 90% of the private commissions I get are portraits. However, I work in a broad range of styles and mediums, from line work to abstract to sketch, with charcoal to paint to clay. I love expanding my knowledge and trying new things, but above all I love creating!! I feel that imagination and expression through art/music/literature are crucial to a person's development, and this is something I pass on to my daughters, and frequently fundraise for, in an attempt to keep art programs in our schools.

I love meeting new people and sharing my knowledg
e, so after having so many people ask me to show them how to draw, I began teaching. I've taught one on one, and classes large in size. I have also taught young children, up to age 98! I am very patient and don't mind a slew of questions! I want to help students become the best at their craft.

Art is my passion and so important in our world, with proven benefits! I'd like to think with teaching, I'm helping to keep it alive, even if just in my small way.

About David
Dedicated art professional with 18 years of experience in creating artwork utilizing various medias. In my early years I worked as an outsider artist giving watercolor lessons for Susan Edwards of the artist place called "The Art Attack in Sycamore Illinois. After some years of painting and displaying my work at outdoor art shows and inside some stores i went to Northern Illinois University and obtained my Bachelor of Fine Art in painting. I have joined art leagues and art guilds near where I live. I recommend the Kishwaukee Valley Art League and the Rockford Art guild. There i learned how to reach children and adults on how to get interested in painting. Strong competency in teaching and leading aspiring artists in group or individualized settings. In order to become a better artist you learn by drawing in a sketchbook from photos i
will assign every two weeks. If you think they are good then you will redraw them in a journal. We will critique them by email and make wonderful discoveries on how you are getting very good at becoming an artist.

Inside my art studio I have had artists stick to my belief that a sketchbook and a journal with pencils is the best way to improve.

Happy Drawing and remember my favorite words "Just Paint"!

My beliefs about teaching and learning begin with my desire to promote acceptance through art. Art is a language of expression available and accessible to everyone. I enjoy using various media for beginners as well as advanced levels.
I’ve always been attracted to religious paintings of the 15th century Flemish and Italian Renaissance artists. The gracefulness of the form was rendered with a perfect balance. The exquisite technical execution speaks to me of the enduring power of beauty.
I have a tremendous appreciation for a contemporary art. However, I am drawn more toward the classic academic art style.

About Fatima
Today I am a professional artist, educator and entrepreneur.

My paintings have been exhibited in galleries and shows across much of Ohio as well as Los Angeles, New York, Miami, and most recently, in Moscow.

From my early childhood I was exposed to an extreme diversity in cultures. Some of my early memories as a child are of me drawing and painting on all kinds of surfaces - whenever possible! Translation: Art is who I am; it is not what I do.

I am very fortunate to have had great teachers and mentors to help me understand the value of visual art and culture. I look forward to working with you on a lesson plan, and to see how you make progress.

I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.

About Daniel
My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful painting.

Today's art lesson with Dan was planned, organized, and given in a friendly, professional and very informative manner. He has excellent communication skills and his demonstrations are informative as well a fascinating to watch. As Dan's student, I was immediately put at ease by his friendly and energetic personality; I felt as if I were talking to an old friend and I left the lesson with a renewed enthusiasm for painting. I really feel as if I doubled my understanding and enthusiasm for oil painting in my first lesson with Dan. No matter what your skill level is, a few lessons with Dan will do wonders for your painting ability and you will enjoy every bit of the time you spend with Dan.

If you want to learn how to paint, I’m your girl! I have been teaching beginners painting lessons for over 4 years now. I have had students of all kinds of skill levels. I have taken the college painting courses for you. All you need to do is show up and paint with me so I can pass on my knowledge. I believe art can change a persons life. It can be a hobby, but it can also be a discipline that opens doors for years to come. There is always room for improvement. I specialize in pop, alternative, landscape, and portrait painting. I am very flexible and would love to do request paintings as well! Let’s grow together.

About Danielle
I Have been painting For the last 12 years. Every artist has room for improvement including myself. I studied painting and art in college. In the college setting the teachers learned just as much from the students- and our lessons will be no different. I plan to go back one day for my MFA.

My artistic style is very unique. I blend symbolism, nature, and the human form to make my finished pieces. I work in acrylic paints regularly but I also have experience in ink, watercolor, graphite, and oils. My teaching experience is in beginners painting: simple landscapes, people, abstracts, and animals. I am hoping with repeat lessons I can further those aspects of painting into a deeper kind of learning. Things like balance, composition, scale, and meaning are all great tools when designing or making a painting. I would love to help someone make a p
iece of art based off the basic skills mentioned above. This would require repeat classes and a disciplined student.

My favorite thing to teach beginners how to paint are landscapes. They are the most forgiving and serve as wonderful learning tools. I can teach you how to select the supplies you will need, how to prepare surfaces for painting, a specific painting step by step, how color affects your work, and why light is so important in artistic endeavors. Plus so much more.

Art is something that is engrained in my soul and will forever be a part of my life. If you have always wanted to develop your skill in the arts, use your hands to create, or just want to start a new hobby I can help you do that. I look forward to meeting you and hope our time together yields some fantastic creative results.
