I've been teaching music for over 20 years, but I believe that voice training and coaching is about YOU and the goals YOU want to achieve. Whether taking on a new style of singing, preparing for an audition, a role, a concert, or looking for ways to survive long rehearsals or speaking gigs; I can help you achieve your goals.
My clients bring me their challenges and upcoming projects. Together we assess how we can work together to make the largest impact.

A few common examples include:
• Finding an authentic and naturally free sound
• Gaining confidence
• Applying a specific technique to a new piece (ei: belt, speech quality, classical tone)
• Creating a dynamic character and communicating clearly in song
• Releasing tension in a specific range of the voice or passage in a piece
• Reigniting the joy in singing

There is no formula to how a coaching session should look. My goal is always for you to leave our session with a valuable nugget that gives you a sense of ...

As a adult student, I have a bit advantage at understanding the theory relatively easily. Maybe also have the willingness to practice on my own. But on the other side, the stiffness of fingers and the frustration of “I know I should do that but just couldn’t “ are common scenarios too. Maggie could adjust the pace and the materials based on my progress which helps a lot. She is also put equally emphasis on both technic and the understanding of music itself, which makes studying piano a vey enjoyable experience.

The lesson went by really well. Maggie is a really good teacher, she is patient and efficient. My daughter really enjoyed her lesson.

Maggie came to teach my 5 year old daughter her very first lesson. I was impressed with how much she covered in a half hour! My daughter was really not interested but Maggie was patient and able to get her hold the violin, learn it's parts, play some notes and even read a line of music! Kudos to Maggie.

I teach singing and have extensive curriculum and teaching materials. I primarily use Alfred Vocal Technique books, but also other supplemental books. During the first lesson, I determine the student's vocal range by having him/her sing up and down the scale. I teach vocal techniques, correct diaphragm breathing, correct singing stance, diction and vowel formation, emoting while singing, connecting to the song, memorization techniques, understanding music history, and much more. I have available to my students a vast array of vocal literature and materials from which they can choose.I have been singing since I was a preschooler and love to sing to touch people's hearts. I have a B.A. in Music Education with a vocal emphasis. I have been trained in the Alexander Technique, have had 7 semesters of private voice lessons at college level, and attended upper level vocal pedagogy classes. I love to teach singing to students and share the rich experiences and knowledge I have.

"Stephanie is an absolutely wonderful teacher. Not only is she a delight to be around, she's completely invested in your goals from the beginning.

Don't let Stephanie's bubbly personality fool you--there's no slacking in her lessons. It's worth it for the progress, especially since Stephanie is right there as your #1 cheerleader.

Stephanie will work with you and adjust her teaching style according to your needs. She explains technique in different ways until it clicks for you, and then she reminds you with the cues you find most helpful. Everybody learns differently, so a flexible teaching style like Stephanie's makes a huge difference in a lesson's effectiveness.

I've already recommended Stephanie to several of my friends who might be interested in singing lessons. Whatever the subject, I'm confident that Stephanie will give you the push you need toward reaching your goals."

She finds your strengths and weaknesses and bases lessons off of them. I already see a huge improvement in my sound and tone with only 5 lessons so far. "Just started with Arrica but I can already tell she’s a wonderful human and lovely, kind instructor. It’s good to touch on the psychology of why we fear singing in front of people (for me) which also comes back to confidence, cultural acceptance, and lack of knowledge/experience. After the first lesson I knew Arrica GOT me, in that sense. I’m thrilled to be doing this!"

How to Transition from Classical Singing to Pop | Exploring Genres in Singing

There are so many different styles and genres to learn to sing, from classical singing to jazz. Read on for some tips from vocal coach Heather L. about exploring pop music, even if you started out with classical training...
