I was a little hesitant in my first class as I am trying to learn it at older age but Panagiota was very friendly and made sure that the environment is comfortable for both of us. I had the first lesson and I would say it was good but too early to conclude the overall experience. I would prefer to provide meaningful feedback at the end of my sessions so that it will be informative and helpful for others. Thanks

She was very thorough in explaining the basics in a very short amount of time. We focused a lot on technique and what to work on until the next lesson.

I am a string specialist. That means I teach and play violin, viola, cello, double bass, guitar, bass guitar, mandolin, ukulele and piano. I earned B.A. earned from the University of Northern Colorado, Greeley Colorado where I was a double major in classical guitar and double bass. In my senior year I was the recipient of the Annual Concerto Contest where I performed the "Concerto in A Major" on double bass with the University orchestra for the spring concert. I have played in both professional and semi-professional orchestras in Colorado and Arizona. I believe that any student will practice more if he or she likes the music they are playing. Periodically I will ask a student to give me a name of a piece of music that they would like to learn how to play. I notate it for them, often simplifying the rhythm and chords in Finale NotePad and give it to them free of charge. I teach students how to play music on their given instrument. Not just how to play the instrument but working on ...

I teach violin to students of all ages and levels! As a musician of 15 years, my background is in classical music, but I specialize in teaching a variety of genres, and I work individually with my students to determine how I can support them wherever they are in their musical journey! It is always my goal to create an exciting and encouraging learning space for my students.

I often start first-time students with Suzuki books, to emphasize ear training and musical fluency. The first lessons will focus on bow hold, positioning of the instrument, tuning, basic ear training, and learning your first pieces of violin repertoire! We will continue to build on these skills, and gradually begin learning note-reading, in addition to increasingly advanced repertoire.

Depending on the level of the student, I will also incorporate excerpts from scale and etude books to help re-enforce the concepts we are learning in our lessons. I have experience teaching from Wohlfahrt, Mazas, Kreutzer, Sevcik,

"A year ago, after a long 40 year or so break, I returned to my violin.
My professional career has nothing to do with music. Learning violin again is a hard work. The physical challenge is there, the ability rapidly to develop muscle tone and memory “sadly just isn’t there anymore.” My right arm is as stiff as a 2x4 stud and left fingers slip. So, lighting dashes over strings will take longer – much longer - to perfect.

But, Tigran reminded me that he has not found any shortcuts and he has been looking for a long time. I resumed very basic finger exercises and routine scales. And the results were very slow but the reward was there.

Tigran is very structured and systematically approaching how to improve the intonation and tonal quality. So, I am happy to leave it up to him to take the lead."

If you are in this stage, your next question is likely this: how much does a violin cost? Although violin prices can run the gamut from $100 to $100,000 and more, as a beginner, you need an instrument that suits your current abilities without being too pricey. …

A Beginner's Guide to Violin Bows: 4 Details to Consider

Selecting a violin bow, much like choosing a guitar, can be a very subjective process.  To the uninitiated, it's "just a violin bow."  They're all the same, right?  Wrong.  To the seasoned violinist, the perfect bow will depend on the player's technique, playing style and overall personal preference.  There are several factors that can affect the sound of the bow on the strings, including strength, shape, and age of the bow. Most beginner violins come with bows that are perfectly fine, b …

15 Easy Violin Songs That Make You Sound Impressive | TakeLessons

As a beginner violinist, chances are you’re eager to play easy violin songs that will show off your new skills. While playing “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” is nice, you’re probably looking for some more popular tunes. For now, it’s a little lofty to expect to play one of Beethoven’s or Bach’s masterpieces right off the bat, but that shouldn’t discourage you.
