Having had experience in Australian Symphony Orchestras and ensembles, Peter has the passion and expertise to take you as far as you want to go

About Peter
I began piano lessons at four years of age, and was blessed to have an amazing piano teacher, who taught me for 14 years. She gave me a passion to teach others and impart to them a love for music. I have carried on that calling and taught hundreds of adults and children over the last 30 years. I am very thorough in my method and customize each lesson around the goals and dreams of each student. I incorporate theory, ear training and technical into all my lessons, regardless of the style of music they are learning. This gives my students an all-round musical education and appreciation for this wonderful gift they have in their hands.

I have experience in the professional music world as a pianist and french horn player, performing with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Australian Opera Chorus and Orchestra, Sydney Sinfonia, Sydney Philharmo
nic Orchestra and Choir, as well as productions of "Cats", "Phantom of the Opera", Sesame Street, and touring all over Australia, U.S.A. and Israel. I have also been a part of the worship teams at Hillsong Church and C3 Church Australia.

I studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and also received my Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in French Horn (Teaching) and Licentiate Diploma from the Trinity College of London (L.T.C.L.) in Piano (Performance). So my experience not only comes from an inspiring teacher, but also from hundreds of performances on stages across the world working with the finest of musicians, singers, conductors and worship leaders.

I love music, and more so, love imparting it to others.

*** Lesson Details ***
Students come away from their lessons inspired and excited about their ability to accomplish their dreams. Whether it is to play 'Phantom of the Opera' or an Adele song, Debussy's Claire De Lune or Jingle Bells, I show them how to do it and help them get there. I am very thorough, taking no short cuts, but making it fun to learn an instrument. You will be amazed at what you are playing in three to six months!

*** Specialties ***
Classical, Jazz, Rock, Contemporary Christian

My first lesson with Peter was perfect! I left so excited to go home and practice, which I did. I noticed a difference, for the better, with my practice that same day. He is very knowledgeable and paid attention to my specific needs. Plus, he has a great Australian accent! 😊 Thank you Peter!

*** Lesson Details ***
All my lessons are centered on where the student is in his/hers musical development. I will in the first few lessons, assess the student's level and then proceed to recommend a course of study. I am process driven and always try to have my students understand my method so I do try to explain all my reasoning regarding the course of study I prescribe. Every student is different so I approach each individual with total respect for their unique ability and talent.

*** Studio Equipment ***
In addition to the standard music stands, metronome, tuners and music, I have digital recording equipment for student's audition recordings. I have helped college bound students get into serious music programs like Northwestern University, Arizona State University and the University of Arizona. For students ages 8 years to 9, I recommend the recorder as a introductory woodwind before Flute, Clarinet or Saxophone.

*** Specialties ***
I am a certified Orff Teacher so I use process centered approach even in private lessons.

Bram, is a Fantastic Music Teacher, my Daughter Swati is taking Tenor Saxophone lessons with Bram since she was 10 and at 11 she has learn so much from him. She has learn Technics from Bram on the Tenor Saxophone where later it comes up in her music class at her Elementary School Music Orchestra. Swati is planning to be with Bram thru her Baritone Teaching and Soprano Saxophone Teachings, when my Daughter transforms over to the other two Saxophones. From a score from 1 to 10...I give Bram a 10+ without even blinking.

Bram is inspiring me to continue playing the clarinet.

Bram is very patient and helped me to re-start playing the clarinet within only a couple of months. He addresses my weaknesses in playing nicely and with professionalism, is following my expectations about the lessons pointed out at the beginning and is inspiring and motivating me to play my instrument.

About Shawna
My name is Shawna and I am a musician and a music educator. Born and raised in Phoenix, Arizona, I began studying music when I was nine years old by taking clarinet and piano lessons. I graduated from Arizona State University in 2011 with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education. After graduating I became certified with the Arizona Board of Education and was a band director between two schools in downtown Phoenix before moving to South Miami, Florida in 2012, and started a Kindermusik program at the Miami Children's Museum. I am back in Phoenix and currently am the music teacher at an elementary school in downtown Phoenix and perform on clarinet within the community with local groups.

As a teacher my goal is to provide my students with an enriching musical experience, because every student can be a musician regardless of their age or ab
ility. I have experience teaching beginner to advanced studies on clarinet, beginner to intermediate studies on saxophone and music theory, and beginner studies on piano. Regardless of the instrument, I make sure that my students have an in depth understanding of their instrument. I explain all concepts regardless of how advanced in the simplest of terms so that my students can fully comprehend the objectives of every lesson.

*** Lesson Details ***
I am a friendly and approachable person who believes that building a good relationship with a student is the key to learning. My lessons are structured but are individualized to meet the needs of the student. I focus on the technical skills of the instrument as well as reading music. I will assign material for the student to practice on at home, but I am willing to work on music from school and allowing the student to have the freedom to choose what style/genre they are interested in performing. At the end of the every lesson the most important objective is that every student is playing music and enjoying the music that they are creating.

*** Travel Equipment ***
During a lesson I provide a music stand, metronome, tuner, and any extra teaching materials. My students are responsible for their instrument, accessories (reeds, swabs, cork grease, etc.), and ideally have a music stand and metronome for at home practice.

*** Specialties ***
I teach all levels of students from beginner to advanced, and all ages.

I have experience using a wide variety of method books and styles in my teaching. I determine which I use based on the needs and abilities of the student.

Some lessons may include:
-Technique (scales, tone, articulation)
-Sight Reading
-Ear Training
-Music Theory
-Repertoire (band method, band music, classical, pop, etc.)

I don't just teach. I instill values into my students to ensure that they achieve their goals. Thomas M. Sterner, a renowned philosopher and jazz pianist once wrote, "Everything in life worth achieving requires practice." I instill this philosophy into my students. I believe that it is something they can reflect on and use in any aspect of their life. I help my students learn to enjoy the process of development. I applaud them when they are doing well, showing how excited I am when they achieve a goal. Even the smallest amount of progress is still progress. I help my students understand this and enjoy this progress so that they can continue to work hard at becoming the best musician they can be.

About Avys
I am a saxophonist, composer, teacher and nurturer. I studied music and jazz at Clayton State University, as well as Georgia State University. I have been performing and teaching saxophone for several years. I am the founder of the Atlanta native band FreeTheZodiac, and frequently play with several other local bands.
I enjoy watching my students develop as musicians. Students will find that I'm just as excited to see them progress as they are, perhaps even more so. I encourage and motivate them to achieve the goals they have set, as well as give them the tools necessary to do so. Students can expect to gain an appreciation for their personal growth and will enjoy the process as much as they will enjoy the end product.
My job is to be both a resource and guide throughout the student's process in learning saxophone. I will implement stude
nts with skills that will not only develop them as musicians but will develop them as individuals. Students will find that many of the qualities we instill during lessons can be applied to other areas of their lives. They will also discover that enjoying the process of learning music, including its successes and failures, is a trait that will help them succeed at any task they endeavor.
