Very fun guy, with an extraordinary amount of knowledge, talent, and overall passion for music. I’m really looking forward to my future lessons.
Steve M.
I am really lucky to have found Al. I am just learning my instrument as an adult and have tried three different teachers (as well as self-managed lessons) before Al. Why I am enjoying my lessons with Al so much is because he brings energy to the session, he encourages questions, he's ready (even excited) to dig deeper into the why of what I'm learning. He challenges you to get the basics and get them right, but he's also willing to indulge in a student's curiosity and let me take the lesson where I want to do as well. All this means I am developing a lot faster than I did when I tried to learn on my own. I'd highly recommend giving Al a try.

My son enjoyed the first lesson! He is very excited about future lessons and can't wait to mature musically. Al is very easy to talk to and understands what motivates kids.

Darrell helped me a lot to get a handle on my Ableton rig. I needed to set up midi tracks, locate presets to create cool sounds from plugins. Then I needed to export the audio of a couple of those tracks to import into a separate Pro Tools project. Lot of progress, thanks Darrell! -- Frank S

I can help you with posture, sticking, and giving you the fundamentals needed to have an awesome start to your percussion playing. Drew was a great help getting me started on the kit. I was a beginner with minimal experience and spent one semester with him. The lessons started out in-person and had to move online halfway through the semester due to COVID-19. This didn’t stop the progression of learning. Everything continued and I consistently got better through great instruction.

Drew is great at relating material to real-life situations which really helps with the learning process. My main instrument is bass guitar and he constantly related information to how similar bass and drums are and how they should work together.

After one semester, I feel confident in my ability to practice correct technique and the ability to play with others. Thanks Drew!

"Sarah taught two of our sons beginning percussion lessons. She is very warm and put the boys at ease, without sacrificing expectations. She made lessons relatable to each boy and never compared them to each other. Sarah has a wealth of knowledge and breadth of experience that make her an excellent choice in percussion teachers."

"Amazing instructor

Erasmo has been my instructor and has taught me mallet percussion for the past year, and over that year I have improved unbelievably. He is an amazing instructor, very patient and helps explain so the student can fully understand. I have gotten very far within such little time thanks to him. I have become such a better musician from the time I started learning from Erasmo, and I have gotten many great opportunities to become an even better musician thanks to the instruction I have learned. I would highly recommend him for anyone of any age."

"To the extent of what I learned in my experience, Andrew is a great percussion teacher for students looking to join a band or marching band. He obviously had a great amount of knowledge and experience with the instrument itself but also the teaching of it. By the end of the first lesson we had already moved to patterns with 8 strikes on each hand and was presented with an arsenal of other exercises for afterwards to find a rate of improvement when given time. He is a very patient teacher and is sensitive to mistakes and which ones to focus on. I could safely recommend him to any of my friends who are also into percussion, and can speak from experience that any nervousness of getting a new teacher quickly dissolves after the first lesson. Great teacher."

"I have been taking music lessons of various types in and outside of school since elementary school and have never had a teacher who introduces concepts quite like Mr.Fuhrman. Things that I have struggled with ever since they were introduced; especially regarding rhythm/counting have become incredibly simple- as they should be! My progress regarding percussion (which I've been working with for over 4 years) has increased exponentially since working with him. Not only will he highly recommend essential practice, but he's willing to give you various strategies to manage time and to be able to fit the practice in. I've had music teachers (all of whom were very competent musicians) telling me to practice since the second grade, but no one's ever set aside some lesson time to discuss how to fit it in. I am a beginning music teacher myself and have already implemented some of the concepts he has taught with my own students. He's not only an incredibly skillful musician, but he is an amazing teacher as well. You won't regret doing lessons with him."

"Kevin asked pertinent questions about my background and used that information to tailor the first lesson. He went beyond the scheduled 30 minutes to provide a complete and coherent beginning to my studies: the extra time did not upset my schedule and I appreciated his going beyond to get me off to a good start. Kevin had a lot of stuff to present yet allowed me to interrupt with questions, which he knowledgeably answered. His personality is relaxed and friendly. Observing him with another student before my lesson, I saw that he offered criticism considerately.
My first lesson was a good experience (4 stars). I don't know if he is the best ever (5 stars), but he must be darn close."
