I've been teaching acting for 5 years and my students have gone on to gain acceptance into Harvard University, Yale University and NYU. I specialize in audition technique, cold reading technique, Shakespeare performance, scene study, voice, speech, physical acting, and character creation. I have been teaching and coaching actors for over 20 years. My students work professionally on stage, TV and film. Within the first few lessons, you will understand how to create a character. Soon, you will have the skills to book a role. I specialize in method acting, but draw upon my experience at The Second City (improvisation) in Chicago and other training I have had. I love working with students of all ages and experience levels; I can't wait to meet you!

I have been acting live on stage, as well as films, radio for decades. My favorite role was playing the lead male - George Bailey in Its A Wonderful Life. I am also a stage and film director, and love directing actors because I understand their needs. I find that acting on stage of course, requires a slightly different approach than film acting.

An example of helping actors would be when I directed an actress in a play - she had this moment when she had to let out a loud scream. But she just couldn't quite do it in rehearsals. So I had her come an hour early next time (you never want to correct actors in public) and asked her to shout and yell as loud as she could for me. And I told her she needed to hear herself remove all apprehension and think of the worst moment of her life. Well she screamed a blood curdling scream over and over and over. And I knew - she was NOW ready .

I pioneered a private Arts Academy drama school for 4 years, and am now teaching acting and directing at a middle and high school. My goal is to help students become well-rounded in all the areas that are needed to truly become a working actor. These areas include: auditioning, theater, film, and improvisation.

Being a repertory performer for Silver Star Playhouse (musical theater parodies), and having lots of experience and training in improv and interactive dinner theaters really trains you in comedy.
My husband also owns Sound waves Productions (technological advanced studio in Gilbert)- so completing remote voiceover work for a reel is not out of the question.

I also encourage students to pair in duos for effective scene work and more in-depth technique training (this will also split your lesson cost in half).

As an actor for 14 years who became an award-winning director and screenwriter, I have a particularly well-rounded perspective on acting. My belief is that anyone can act, if given the right tools, and I have a proven track record -- actors who work with me are presently booking major roles in film and television. My philosophy is that acting is about exploring yourself -- who you really are as a human being -- and having confidence in that unique individual's perspective on the character. We will also use my expertise on the other side of the camera to explore how to work with directors, as well as the writer's viewpoint on the larger story.
