Bassoon Lessons in Bapchule. Amazing Teachers.

I am a double reed (oboe and bassoon) specialist and have played both for over 16 years. My instrument of choice was bassoon in college and I continue to play for community orchestras. I tutor the double reed students at Hughson High School and Ross Middle School during the school year. Proper bassoon embouchure, technique and selection and adjustment of reeds is something most public school teachers overlook. Trust a specialist!

I teach oboe primarily through the tried and true Rubank method and the Ferling studies. Students will learn how to properly care for the instrument, how to read music, music theory, instrument technique, practice techniques, ear training (how to play by ear), reed adjustment, and repertoire. I also employ custom exercises specifically for oboe to help my students progress the fastest.

The bassoon is an amazing instrument! The nickname for the bassoon is the "clown of the orchestra". I am so excited to teach you more about the bassoon! I am an interactive teacher who can assist you in many ways in regards to learning how to play the bassoon including; correct posture, new breathing techniques, correct fingerings, alternative fingerings, half-hole technique, improved sight-reading skills, greater music theory knowledge, and performance skills. I recommend using the Essential Elements for Band book series. Once we connect and I can find out more about your playing level we can find the perfect book for your. Lesson content depends on the individual student, as I structure our time together depending on individual needs. Lessons can be relaxed or fast-paced, depending on what you desire to get from them.
All lessons include some combination of warm-up, scales and basic exercises, and solo literature appropriate to level. For more advanced students, we will discuss basic theory and ear training.
