Alex N. Bishop, GA

About Alex

I have 15 years experience playing guitar and drums and love nothing more than to share my knowledge of music with students who are eager to learn. My passion for music developed at an early age and has only grown from there. I have had the privilege of learning from excellent and extremely talented teachers. I enjoy playing at local venues and watching my students joyfully succeed. *** Lesson Details *** Whether you have never picked up an instrument or if you just want to fine tune your musical ability, I will gladly meet you wherever you are in your musical journey. As patience is always an important aspect in learning a new instrument, it is also one of my strengths as I teach students the basics or the advanced techniques with guitar or drums. Alex is extremely patient with my son who is 9 years old. He makes it fun for him and uses music that my son loves. He took his time to ask what type of music he would like and is teaching him based on that. After only three lessons my son is really starting to pick up on basic cords. I would highly recommend Alex to anyone that is interested in learning guitar. My son really enjoys his time with him.
Taylor R. Jefferson, GA

About Taylor

Hello! My name is Taylor R. I am a composer, performer and teacher. I have a profound passion for teaching and have been teaching private and group lessons for over eight years. I get to know each of my students personally so that I can tailor my teaching methods to meet their specific needs and present them with what they need to know in ways they can easily understand. The concepts and skills I teach my students during our lessons will aid them greatly in their non-musical lives as well; discipline, confidence, focus, etc. I always make sure my students get the information, guidance and resources they need in order to be successful. In 2014 I was accepted to the Royal Academy of Music in London for composition. I have written for groups and soloists such as The Canadian Brass, ...

Lesley D. Covington, GA

About Lesley

UNOFFICIAL BIO: As long as I can remember, I have played music in one form or the other. I think I started singing before I could actually talk. By the age of 5 I had my first guitar and piano. By then I knew music would be a huge part of my life. It is my favorite language. It is universal. I love to teach those just starting out in music...especially children. Tapping in on a child's natural talent for the first time is an amazing thing to witness. OFFICIAL BIO: Lesley is a singer/songwriter based out of Atlanta, GA. She hit the music scene in the early 80's in Miami, Fl. and signed on with TCA management in the 90's where she toured with the company's other two bands, Marilyn Manson and The Mavericks (yes, what an eclectic combination!) ...

Brooke R. Athens, GA

About Brooke

Hello, my name is Brooke and I am very excited about the opportunity to teach some clarinet lessons! I have been teaching clarinet since 2007 and have enjoyed helping my students accomplish their goals, such as earning a spot in Georgia's all-state band or simply crossing the break with more ease. I attended the University of Georgia for my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in clarinet performance. I try to include fun in my teaching style as often as possible, but I also show a tough side to truly push my students to be their best. I play the soprano clarinet and all of its auxiliaries, so I can help with the bass, alto, E-flat, and contra varieties of the instrument too. I look forward to meeting you and helping you reach your goals!

Daniel D. Athens, GA

About Daniel

I am a career guitarist and musician with nine years of experience on the instrument. My primary goal with a new student is to make the process enjoyable and fun. This approach allows beginners to advance as much as possible with basic instruction, saving the less exciting aspects of musicianship to those who have become skilled enough to benefit from them. While I am capable of teaching beginner guitar techniques for a wide array of styles, my advanced experience focuses on blues, country, rock, and folk music. I teach flatpicking, slide, and fingerstyle techniques, improvised and constructed lead guitar, and basic through intermediate music theory. I do not provide advanced instruction in classical, jazz, or flamenco styles, or in advanced music theory. I do not use a musical staff

Strategies for Sight Singing
It may seem like instrumentalists have it much easier when it comes to sight reading music; by simply pressing a key or a string, the notes are immediately available to them without any additional thought, and all that’s left to them is to work out duration, dynamics, and tempo. Singers, on the other hand, don't have an instrument to rely on. Taking a song previously unknown to you and delivering a reasonably accurate performance the very first run-through isn’t a talent that everybody has.

Guitar Playing Tips | Eliminating Bad Habits & Reducing Injury
As far as guitar playing tips go, understanding proper form should be at the top of the list! Here, North Wales, PA guitar teacher Nathan D. shares the basics...   As a multi-instrumental musician, I am constantly checking my form to prevent strain or injury. Hours of improperly played guitar, piano, violin, and even clarinet can make one's fingers and elbows throb, and the impact of playing drums too hard with poor form can cause major injury to wrists all the way to your shoulde
