Nikita is definitely a talented teacher. My daughter has had three other violin teachers and he is the best so far. Not only does he do a good job of teaching the notes, but he incorporates history and teaches his students how to play with passion. He is kind and patient and I would highly recommend him. Sadly, he is a bit on the expensive side.

A physicist by the name of Albert Einstein once said, "A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?" The answer, of course, is violin lessons! Hello! My name is Chris Robertson and it would be my distinct honor to teach you to play the violin.
Lessons with me will be goal focused and setting some goals is something that we will do right away. Whether you want to one day perform on the world's biggest stages or simply play Christmas carols for a few loved ones, together we'll find the path that gets you there.
If you're already excited about learning to play, shoot me a message and lets take our first steps right away!

About Chris
Hi! My name is Chris. I am a violinist who has been playing since the 4th grade and teaching for over 10 years. I love music in all of its forms. Whether it's works of the great classical masters or plugging my electric violin into a new effects pedal, you can bet I'm loving every minute of it. But nothing is more rewarding to me than passing on that love of music to others!

I attended Florida Southern College in Lakeland, Florida, where I studied music education under renowned conductor and violinist, Dr. Arthur Prano. Since that time, I've played in traditional classical symphonies, broadway musical pit ensembles, and even fronted an original music rock band named Hotel Hurry.

Book lessons with me today! I can't wait to get started!

*** Lesson Details ***
I can assist you with everything from picking up the instrument for the first
time to improving upon what you already know. I believe every student should be approached in a unique way that works best with their personal style. I also believe that learning to play the violin doesn't have to be restricted to only classical music. Violins sound great in almost every genre of music, so why not use a great variety of music to learn with?

I employ methods from Suzuki and All For Strings in my lessons, in addition to other sources. I think what sets me apart from many other teachers is my flexibility. I understand that the same approach doesn't work equally for every student. Every student is different and learns differently. Adapting my teaching style to the student's unique needs is essential to their enjoyment and success!

Chris is awesome!

Chris provides really good feed back during every lesson. He lets me know what I need to work on and tips for improving and at the same time encourages me by telling me what I am doing well in. He also is very flexible and understanding. He was even kind enough to make sheet music for me for a piece of music that I really enjoy. Thanks Chris!

Great Instructor, Highly Recommend

I have no background in music and am learning the violin as my first instrument. I picked Chris based on his profile and he is an swesome teacher. Everything I could possibly need in a teacher: clear explanations, constructive feedback, patience, flexibility, and a simple approach to teaching what I am appreciating is a very difficult instrument to master. Chris makes each lesson very fun and we laugh alot. He's sensitive to my trouble areas and encourages me to "stretch" to reach the challenge for the day. Imagine my pleasure when we were doing "duets" on lesson 2. I'm looking forwaard to a long, rewarding working relationship with Chris. 2 thumbs up!!

Want to learn violin? My students have unique lessons tailored to their needs and own personal goals. Basic skills and advanced techniques are taught alongside music interpretation and expression, as well as basic music history, music theory, and other tools necessary to make informed performance decisions. What do you want to learn? Tell me and we can discover it together!

About Calvin
As a classically trained violist with orchestral, chamber, and solo performance experience, my teaching style is geared towards performance and expression. I don't adhere to any one book of teaching, adjusting my teaching to the unique needs of each student. My teachers came from different pedagogical backgrounds; as a result, I have a wide array of teaching tools available to pass on to my students. I have taught with the Longy School of Music's El Sistema program and had a Teaching Artist residence with Cambridge Public Schools. I hold a BM in Viola performance from the Lamont School of Music and a MM in Viola Performance from the Longy School of Music.

I have played viola since I first began my musical studies at age 9. As a result, I have seen teachers hold viola students back, simply because they play the "lesser" instrument in th
e viola family. I do not hold my students back and I hold them all to the same high level of playing, regardless of which instrument they play.

As a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Music and the Colburn Conservatory, I look to pass on the great lessons and traditions of violin playing I've learned over the course of my career as a concert artist and pedagogue. We will work together to create a personalized curriculum, and progress at a pace that matches your comfort levels and your goals.

I've had the pleasure of teaching a regular private studio, and have given masterclasses nationally and internationally.

I love getting to know my students, and am very reachable outside of lesson times for questions, advice, and funny links! Please feel free to message me.

About Misha
I earned my Bachelor of Music attending the Cleveland Institute of Music, received a Master of Music from the Colburn Conservatory, and am currently in post-graduate studies under Lina Bahn at the University of Southern California.

As a teacher, I've been fortunate to maintain private studios wherever I've lived, and have also added a regular faculty position at the Benefic Chamber Music Festival to my summer schedule, which involves coaching and private teaching. I have also recently led workshops and masterclasses at University of Texas, El Paso, JDR Summer Strings Academy in Plano, Texas, and the University of Juarez, Mexico.

It's been an honor to perform as soloist with orchestras such as the Starling Chamber Orchestra at the Forbidden City Concert Hall, China, the Fort Wayne Philharmonic, and Symphony of the Lakes Orchestras
, Indiana, the Lake Charles Symphony, Louisiana, the El Paso Symphony, Texas, the Poway Symphony, California, the Juarez Symphony, Mexico, and the St. Petersburg Philharmonic, Russia. My performances have been broadcast nationally and internationally, with critical acclaim.

In 2011, I starred in the music video “Stronger” with groundbreaking string trio Time for Three (the video was featured on CNN in 2012), and am featured in a music video from Bach Dancing & Dynamite playing the first movement of the Klein String Trio, as of 2017.

In chamber music I have recently collaborated with artists such as members of the Calidore String Quartet, members of the Jupiter String Quartet, David Requiro, June Han, Kurt Muroki, Carmit Zori, and Joseph Johnson, among others.

I am currently a member of the Benefic Piano Trio, Grand Prize winners of the 2018 ENKOR International Music Competition.

I am very proud to come from a tradition of great pedagogues, with long term instruction from the likes of Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra ex-concertmaster Zachary DePue, acclaimed concert violinist Joan Kwuon, and Tokyo String Quartet ex-first violin Martin Beaver. I hope to pass their knowledge along with mine to my students.

When it comes to violin I use both book and audio. I want to help my students learn to not only read the music but to also hear and feel it. I have been teaching this way for the last few years and found that my students have a deeper understanding of the music by learning the see with their ears. Each student is tasked with coming up with goals that they want to reach, goals their parents would like for them to reach and from there a personalized path for learning is created and followed.

About April
I picked up music when I was very young and have never looked back. I started with the piano and then moved on to the violin, of which I competed regularly in up until high school. In high school I switched the viola and found it to me even more amazing. During high school I competed again in music between schools, the San Diego Youth Orchestra. I currently work with several students with special needs such as Autism and other Neurological delays. My son is Autistic and music was a great way for him to express himself. I found that the other children I work with on the spectrum have more abilities to express themselves through music then with words. I also work with students that are not yet comfortable with themselves and getting them to breath and enjoy the music helps bring them out of their shells.

I regularly find myself jamming o
ut with another music instructor every chance we get. Music is a great relief and enjoyment that I want to share with as many people as I can. I am currently in college getting my Bachelors degree in History with a minor in Music.

Hey there explorer!

So you thought the violin is only meant to play Classical music? Think again!
With over 13 years of experience in improvisation in many different musical styles on the violin, I will show you the methods to explore and teach yourself any type of musical style you'd wish to play!

Although being mainly a Jazz violinist, I have performed and recorded in many different musical genres and improvisation styles including Blues, Trad Jazz, Rock, Indian Classical music, Bluegrass, Jewish Klezmer music and more. Since students spend most of their crucial development time individually in the practice room, as a teacher my biggest ambition is to teach my students 'how to be your own teacher' (I know it's kinda shooting myself in the foot :] ). Based on my 20 years experience playing the violin and other instruments, my training in Alexander technique, teaching artistry, psychology, philosophy and meditation, I've accumulated a set of methods and ideas about how to ...

About Omer
An award-winning Jazz violinist and a graduate of The Newschool of Jazz, These days I'm recording and performing on stages around the world playing Jazz, Rock, Folk and more.
Would love to share with you some of my secrets! Teaching improvisation and basic violin for all levels. Also teaching audition prep and ear training!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years ago a musician I really admire told me how he believes that every musician has to be teaching at some point in his career. He has seen it not only as a suggestion but as an obligation, a responsibility of an artist to pass on his knowledge for the next generations. My life circumstances only make this belief stronger within me year after year.

As a young Violinist in Israel that experienced a crisis with Class
ical music and the Classical school, I’ve been looking around for non-classical Violin teachers in vain. I’ve figured out that in order to play the music I want on the Violin I’m going to have to teach it to myself, thus becoming an independent learner which is most likely the greatest gift I’ve ever received as a musician and a teacher.
I had to read books, watch videos, ask people how they practice, use my ears because I had no scores to any of the music I wanted to play, explore. I had to criticize myself, I had to remain conscious about my playing and what I think is missing in my playing in comparison to other players, analyze what is it that excites me in one’s music or playing. Most of all, I had the privilege to remain attentive to any new idea being suggested to me, because no one ever taught me what the “truth” is.

Be your own teacher. That is perhaps the only “truth” I would force upon my students. As part of my teaching philosophy, I'm seeking to not only teach my students the skills they wish to acquire but to show them how to determine and teach themselves new skills they 'need' or desire to acquire.

With over 8 years of experience teaching private students of all levels and conducting Jazz violin workshops for small groups, I like to incorporate my knowledge in music teaching with other knowledge in learning techniques and education I've acquired through training in Psychology, leadership and education, Alexander technique, Teaching artistry, meditation and social work.

Omer is giving Violin lessons to my youngest son Eric for the last 6 months. Eric started playing the guitar a few years ago up until a movie he recently saw on a Japanese brilliant violinist , a week later he told us on his will to tryout the violin. Fortunately We heard Omer playing in a jazz club, and contacted him a few days after, Omer is a very talented musician but has unique capability and patient for his students. Omer is teaching with a very relaxed, positive attitude, his passion for music with small anecdotes and humour was what made Eric to get in love with the instrument and he is Impatiently waiting for his next lesson. we highly recommend Omer as a teacher and musician.

I hold two degrees in classical violin performance (B.M. from DePaul University and MM from New York University), and I have taught violin at NYU for the last two years. I feel very qualified AND excited about being part of anyone's journey on the violin!

About Libby
Libby Weitnauer is a fiddle player, violinist, and educator currently based in Brooklyn, NY.

Libby began her journey on the violin at the age of 4 in the musical community of East Tennessee. During her time there, she soloed with several local orchestras including the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra, Maryville College Community Orchestra, Oak Ridge Youth Symphony, and Knoxville Youth Symphony Orchestra and had her performance dubbed “ethereal” by the Knoxville News Sentinel. After high school, Libby moved to Chicago to study with pedagogue Olga Kaler and complete her Bachelor’s degree in violin performance at DePaul University. She grew homesick for the sounds of the Smoky Mountains and began exploring various fiddling traditions while composing and performing with new acoustic trio Ask Your Folks. It was through this process that Libby eve
ntually found her way to the Appalachian old-time fiddle music that she now calls home.

Since that stylistic shift, Libby has learned from many friends and teachers including Matt Brown, Rayna Gellert, and most recently, Grammy Award winner Dom Flemons during a summer of research and music making at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Libby is currently a member of the oldtime stringband Ginny’s Kitchen and a newly formed duo project with banjo-fiddler Jake Blount, Tui.

During her time developing as a fiddler, Libby has also continued her classical violin career. In 2018 she graduated from New York University with a Masters of Music, where she studied with Gregory Fulkerson and served on adjunct faculty teaching undergraduate non-music majors.
