About Kevin
I have had a fairly diverse musical background, including playing with bands and orchestras, as well as participating in choral groups and opera. I have a master's degree in music performance for wind conducting, and a bachelor's degree in music with an emphasis on piano performance.

I have taught private lessons for several years now and I love every moment with my students! I have a real passion for sharing my knowledge and experience with others, both failures and successes. I believe everyone has creative potential, and I believe music is a real universal art form that anyone can tap into if they want. Above all, making and creating music should also be fun!

*** Lesson Details ***
I try to keep my lessons professional but comfortable too. I don't yell at students for messing up or anything like that. I usually have an agenda b
ut am willing to adjust and compromise if the situation dictates. If you don't have a curriculum in mind, I like Alfred's piano courses, but will do my best to find one that fits you as a student best. My initial goals are to make sure the basics of reading music and performing are set so that no matter what musical avenue you want to pursue, you will be successful. I do specialize in classical music but enjoy creating and playing in other genres as well.

I now also offer lessons online, as well as tutoring in most math areas!

***CANCELLATION POLICY***
I kindly ask for 24 hour notice whenever possible if a lesson is going to be missed. Generally speaking, if I don't hear from a student and their lesson time passes I will mark the lesson as missed, but I am also usually more than willing to make up the lesson at a later time.

*** Studio Equipment ***
I have a piano keyboard at my home.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I would expect students to have their own instruments as needed, as well as music paper, pencils, etc. I may be able to provide some of those materials on occasion as well as some books/recordings, but will by and large expect students to purchase those for themselves.

*** Specialties ***
I am much more familiar with classical styles and Broadway. My music writing style tends to be somewhere between neo-classical and avant-garde.

About Brenton
I have been playing the cello for over 20 years. Throughout that time I have been taught in many of the popular training techniques, including but not limited to: Suzuki, All For Strings, Alexander Technique, Popper, and Schroeder studies.

In my career as a cellist, I have performed in professional level orchestras in Central California, Southern California, and Southern Arizona. I have also been playing for private events and weddings for over 16 years, playing almost every genre of music imaginable. In my short career so far, I have had the privilege to play for numerous popular bands and record and multiple record albums. All of my experience in practical music applications helps me to inform a student that there is a large amount of opportunities for musicians to play outside of a traditional orchestra. It is important to know tha
t the cello is an instrument that has broken through traditional barriers and is used in almost every genre of music currently.

*** Lesson Details ***
When I teach a lesson I make sure that the student is my first priority and they each have a unique lesson plan designed to focus on their strengths and give them the best opportunity to succeed. Each student that I teach is encouraged to set a goal for themselves that will challenge them without making them feel too much pressure. My goal is to make lessons fun so that there is incentive to practice every day and feel a great sense of accomplishment after every week of practicing and lessons. Even though I know that not all of my students will go on to play cello professionally, I teach them with the expectation that this will become a deep passion that they will cherish for the rest of their lives, just like it happened with me.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Dining area setup for lesson with keyboard, guitar and cello, waiting area for parents available in living room. Guest parking available. No pets.

*** Travel Equipment ***
I provide stands and some music. Students need to provide instrument, chairs, a location to teach.

About Cindy
Cindy has been making music for as long as she can remember. She was the assistant director of a synagogue children's choir by age 14 and has directed and sung with many community choirs and pickup groups since then. But it wasn't until 1996 that she discovered the autoharp and began teaching and performing in earnest. Now one of the best recognized autoharp workshop leaders in the US, she has taught and performed at festivals and private concerts from Pennsylvania to California, as well as Tasmania, Australia, England, aboard cruise ships, and an upcoming visit to Sweden. She also shares her knowledge of old-time West Virginia fiddle techniques and repertoire, and is known locally as a sympathetic and effective voice teacher for those who think they cannot sing. In addition to her teaching activities, Cindy founded and directs the Pi
ttsburgh Threshold Choir, a group of women who sing at the bedsides of people who are very ill or dying.

Lessons with Cindy are self-directed with coaching intended to help the student accomplish his or her personal objectives. She will ask you to provide examples of music that you love so much that you'd be willing to work hard to learn to play it, and you will find yourself working on that music right from the start. Technique is taught in the context of the music: if you need a technique for a particular song, you will learn that technique. And of course once you've mastered a technique it's yours to use on the next song or tune and the next. It's a constant process of enjoying the music and discovering and mastering the technique needed to recreate it in your own playing or singing.

*** Lesson Details ***
Lessons start with a review of the work you've been doing. We might take that song or tune to the next level with a new technique, or we might apply technique you've already learned to a new piece. Every lesson is different, customized to the needs of the student at that moment.

*** Studio Equipment ***

*** Travel Equipment ***

I recently approached Cindy for vocal coaching on songs that I perform on a regular basis with my duet. I am extremely pleased with her instruction. She was to the point, very clear and concise with her guidance. I know she improved my performance (I had a concert the very next day!). She gave me so much to think about. I really trust her approach with me. She made me feel very much at ease, which resulted in rapid-fire student/teacher give and take vocal direction. This is the way I like to learn! I loved my time with her and will certainly have another session with her soon!

About John
I started playing music at the age of 12. By 16 years old I started in my first working band as well as began my love for teaching guitar to others. Most of my musical career has been spent playing in 2 of the local cover bands in the Philadelphia area.

Teaching has always been a great interest to me. I've developed a teaching system over the years which not only decreases the time in which the student actually starts playing songs but also develops the students own creative ideas on the instrument. While it is very enjoyable to learn and play others artist's material, learning to create and write your own original ideas I believe is equally as important.

About Marissa
My name is Marissa Howard I am currently studying at the University of Memphis for my Masters in classical voice. I have been studying piano for 14 years and voice for 8. I began my education at the Denver School of the Arts studying under Brian Stinar and Anne Van Etten, where I had the opportunity to play in prestigious halls such as Jordan Hall at New England Conservatory and John Paine Hall at Harvard University. For my undergraduate I attended the Chicago College of the Performing Arts and I had the opportunity to work with Thomas Studebaker and Cynthia Clarey studying piano under Dr. Rachel Park. I had the great opportunity to work with great artists such as Nicole Cabell and Isabelle Leonard and worked with local theaters such as the Greenhouse Theater. As a pianist I had the opportunity to work with composers such as Doug Green,
Nicholas Gutierrez, Justus Richardson, and Andrew Meixner to perform new works. As a teacher I believe in a strong foundation in hard work and fun. Music should be enjoyable and I enjoy working with students both young and old. I would love to work with finding your passion or hobby and help encourage you along the way.
