October 5, 2017
I had a great first lesson with Armen.
He immediately identified some areas of improvement and I really liked his style which is rigorous, demanding and rewarding at the same time.
Can't wait to our next lesson,
My primary expertise is in teaching beginners to low intermediate students but I gladly accept students of any level.
Classically trained, energetic, experienced and creative music teacher with a proven ability to get the very best out of pupils; experienced in identifying the appropriate resources necessary for a subject matter and ensuring that they are used efficiently and effectively. Most of my students read and play simple music after 2-3 classes of active instruction.
I also specialize in special needs students.
All my musical knowledge and expertise was attained in Eastern Europe with an extensive music pedagogy training. I play and teach piano, upright bass, bass guitar and a range of other instruments. Over the years I taught basic piano, the beginner violin, viola, cello and a variety of school instruments such as recorder and xylophone. I also teach advanced music theory, harmony and basics of composition and orchestral arranging req
uired for music colleges. I especially find it rewarding working with beginners and the opportunity to show them the amazing world of listening, playing and making music.
The teaching begins with identifying student's musical needs, goals and tastes. Students are taught a stimulating, thorough, and graduated course of recital solos, theory, technical studies, and classic repertoire. For those wishing to pursue more of a classical approach to music, there are proven methods to accomplish that goal established by European master teachers and pedagogues. Also, I can teach the know-how of Jazz and Blues though gradual lessons that cover basic theory, scales and chords up to melody and harmony development.
*** Lesson Details *** The learning process should be, for the most part, fun and based upon a strong relationship between the teacher and the student. Curriculum and lesson plans are based on student's abilities and aspirations with appropriate balance between theoretical and practical work. The lesson material is always carefully chosen, and when necessary, adapted to specific learning needs.
With a proper approach, everyone can learn to play music. Whether you want to pursue a music career, or just play for fun and enjoyment I can help you attain your goals. From basic piano and stringed instruments, to advanced theory, harmony, composition and improvisation to jazz, pop and rock.
Classes are not based on a single source or book. I provide other exercises in printed form for students to keep and take home.

Peter has exceeded my expectations, I look forward for my lesson every week. I honestly can say He is the best teacher I’ve ever had. I am a 44 yo violin beginner student who has had 5 teachers in the last 6 years, I didn’t learn much with them, this been said, with Peter in just 3 months I feel I have learned more than my other teachers. Peter is so, so patient and extremely professional. I am very pleased to have found such a wonderful teacher.

Peter is always on time, patient with beginners, and gives valuable guidance.

Peter has been teaching bass to our son for several years and our son has become quite proficient. It's a bonus that Peter is unfailingly upbeat, professional, and a pleasure to have around. He truly loves music and conveys his appreciation to his students - so much so that now my husband is taking cello lessons from Peter, too.
Comprehensive and fun lessons focusing on musicality, technique and music theory for all ages.
Dear students and parents,
Hello and welcome to takelessons.com! My name is Jessica and I am classically trained violinist with over 20 years of playing experience. I was born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland and recently relocated to Saint Louis County with my family. Music has always been passion of mine since a very young age, so it was inevitable that it would end up being my career. Naturally, a love for teaching the wonders of music followed suit!
I always try to form a great rapport with my students and parents from the very first lesson. For younger students, I encourage my parents to take an active part in both lessons and daily practice, as is encouraged by Shinichi Suzuki.
I've been teaching violin and viola professionally for over 12 years now. My experience includes teaching private lessons at students homes as wel
l as at various music schools, summer camps and festivals. A few advanced students have even attended and performed in some of these aforementioned festivals! I am always encouraging my students to go above and beyond.
A bit of background about me: I started my music studies at the age of 7. Lessons and orchestra were literally the highlight of my childhood. I ended up attending the Baltimore School for the Arts for high school, and went on to receive my Bachelor of Music Performance degree from Shenandoah University and complete further studies in England, Northern Ireland and Maryland (UMBC graduate certificate). I am also a registered Suzuki Violin/Viola teacher and have attended many teachers workshops in order to gain the knowledge and experience necessary to work with any and all types of students, including those with learning disabilities, such as ADD and FAS.
*** Lesson Details *** While I am a registered Suzuki violin teacher, I do not teach solely out of a certain method or "by the book"; I choose and mold every lesson depending on specific, strengths, weaknesses, etc. If you are a more advanced, serious player, more intensive lessons and repertoire will follow suit.
I am comfortable teaching all ages and levels up to advanced. Use of games make learning the violin fun and accessible for young children. Older and more advanced students receive a more technical, intensive and advanced approach. Coaching and weekly help on school assigned materials (orchestra/string class music and homework) Classical, Jazz, Gypsy and Fiddle styles are all introduced and studied to give students a rounded technique. Music theory (reading and understanding music) is incorporated in lessons. Repertoire is diverse and exciting. Various approaches for the visual or aural learner. Guaranteed to keep you or your child engaged and interested!
*** Equipment and Studio Lesson Details ***
-If you are coming to my home for lessons, please be sure to bring your instrument and any books you may already have.
**Please note, there are three cats in the house. They are usually isolated to a different part of the house during lessons to ensure there are no unnecessary distractions and to help minimize potential allergies (studio is also sprayed with allergy reducer spray and vacuumed regularly). All are UTD on shots. Please call and ask to schedule a "trial" lesson to see if the animals interfere with allergies.
New students: You may park on the cul-de-sac next to the house and walk down. I have a trial 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 size violin to use for the first lesson if your child is a beginner. After the first lesson I will send an email explaining what materials and equipment I recommend you buy to help you sound your best.
Places to rent or buy instruments will be recommended upon request.
*** Cancellation/Reschedule Requests *** 1) At least 24 hours notice is required if you need to cancel your, or your child's, lesson. You will be given the option to take a credit that will automatically roll over to cover future unpaid lessons on your calendar, or the option to reschedule for a different day within a week of the canceled lesson.
2) If you find that you need to cancel with less than 24 hours notice you will be given the option to make up your lesson within 7 calendar days of your originally scheduled lesson time. If you cannot do a makeup lesson, this will result in the lesson being marked as "missed" and will still be charged as if you attended the lesson.
3) If you do not show up to your lesson scheduled at my home studio and no notice was given, the lesson will be marked as "missed" and will still be charged as if you attended the lesson.
4) If I need to reschedule or cancel a lesson for whatever reason, you will be given an option for a makeup lesson or given a credit that will automatically roll over to cover future unpaid lessons.
5) I require two weeks notice to discontinue lessons if you would like to receive a refund or be exempt from paying future tuition.
6) All lessons are billed ahead of schedule and must be paid in advance in order to keep your lesson slot.

Laura has taught throughout her musical career and loves nothing better than to introduce students of all ages to the magic of creating their own music! As a teacher, she focuses on balancing inspiration and explanation. Inspiration: because if you don’t love your music, what’s the point? And technique: because if it’s easy to play and sounds good, you’ll keep coming back for more!
Laura has a BA in Violin Performance and a minor in American Roots Music from Berklee School of Music, has taught privately for ten years, and plays in the nationally touring Appalacian Celtic Rock band Tuatha Dea. Laura has taken firsts in her age division at several fiddle contests, including the California and Nevada Oldtime Fiddle State Champions, Western Open Championships and top 5 in the National Oldtime Fiddle Championships.
*** Studio Equipment
*** I provide sheet music for new tunes, stickers, and I keep on hand a basic fix-it kit for common instrument issues. I also try to keep backup books and a shoulder rest around at my studios so if someone forgets their equipment we can still make good use of the lesson.
I expect the student to provide their instrument, shoulder rest, binder and sheet protectors for loose pages, blank notebook, and any supplementary books we may need. I don't require lots of books - just ones you'll use!
*** Online Supplies*** I keep downloadable pdfs and links on my personal website so they're handy whenever you need them.
*** Specialties *** I love teaching oldtime, bluegrass, country and celtic fiddle - most of what I do as a performer fits in along those lines. I teach Suzuki method violin as well. My Suzuki teacher learned directly from Shinichi Suzuki!
I encourage all my students to improvise, to try different musical styles, and to experiment with composition. My goals are to share my own love for music, and enable students to discover their unique musical voice.
Very professional and innovative techniques that guarantee success!

Laura has been a great teacher for my 6 year-old daughter (starting taking lessons when she was 5). She is endlessly patient and has a perfect balance of fun and instruction in all her lessons. She helped us every step of the way--picking out the right rental instrument, finding extra workbooks that would be fun, coming up with ways to make practicing at home enticing. Laura is made to be a fiddle teacher--she has a obvious passion both for the music and sharing it with her students. My daughter left every lesson with Laura beaming with pride. I'd recommend anyone searching for a teacher to go with Laura!

Margaret is a wonderful instructor who provides excellent teaching. I really appreciated that she made a point of not only explaining how to hold the bow, the violin, etc, but also explaining why it's important to use certain positions and posture and how it all comes together as one continues to practice. She's also super friendly and how's a very positive and welcoming demeanor.

I am a beginner. Her instructions are very clear and simple. She makes sure that I understand the basics concepts really well. I really enjoy going to her classes.
Whether you're a beginner looking to explore a new instrument, or a young professional preparing for an orchestral or college audition, I'm eager to share my passion of music and teaching experience with you. Throughout my teaching and performing career, I have been highly successful at helping students bring out the very best they can offer. Many of my students got accepted to study at major universities and music conservatories, and/or earned positions at orchestras or teaching institutions.
I'm strict and have very high expectations, but I was also praised for being encouraging and supportive. I strongly believe in the power of music, and the many benefits of learning a musical instrument.
Music has been my greatest passion all my life. Originally from the former Yugoslavia (of Hungarian descent), I earned all my degrees in violin performance: a 5-yr Diploma from the Franz Liszt Academy (Conservatory) of Music in Budapest, Hungary, a Master's Degree from SIU-Carbondale, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison). I've been teaching for 22 years, including 18 years as a full-time university professor (formerly Associate Professor of Violin/Viola at the University of Idaho, and Artist-in-Residence at the Universidad Juan N. Corpas in Bogotá, Colombia). Currently I teach at several institutions in Las Vegas and Henderson, NV.
Besides teaching, I've been active as a soloist and chamber musician (mainly piano trio and string quartet) as well as in orchestral playing (with more than a d
ozen professional orchestras, including the Las Vegas Philharmonic, Spokane Symphony, Wichita Grand Opera, and Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra).
My daughter loves Mr Ferenc, he is so kind, patient and thorough, and works with our limited schedule. As a former violin player myself, (albeit 22 years ago) I really appreciate how exacting his standards are for form and posture and I wish my early instructors had been of his caliber.
July 31, 2019
Ferenc is an incredibly talented violinist and mentor, who used to be a violin professor before coming to Vegas. Besides being knowledgeable, he is also very patient with kids (being a parent himself). He might travel to the student's location, but I don't know for sure.

This teacher has tons of experience teaching youth, and we recommend him highly. My kids just love their lessons, even during the summer months. It is difficult to find a truly caring mentor who doesn't cancel lessons due to other commitments, but this teacher really cares about getting things "done" in his music studio. Very friendly and encouraging.
Every student is unique, so I will tailor the lessons to you and make it fun! I'm passing on to you the training I received from the very best master teachers of the violin. Stringed instruments are challenging, but I believe in enjoying making music at every level, while establishing a strong foundation in good technique. For learning fundamentals of music theory and ear training, we will play various rhythm and improvisational games. I have extensive background in European classical music, and I've also done quite a bit of improvisation, some fiddling, and electric violin and viola. Whether you want to be the next Joshua Bell or the next Lindsey Stirling, I can help you improve your playing. I will help you sing, dance and tell a story through your violin or viola.
Born into a musical family in 1966, I have extensive performance experience as a classical violinist and violist, and I've been composing my own music since 2000. I am very grateful to have studied with some of the finest teachers of violin, viola and chamber music, and I graduated in 1990 from the Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia, one of the best conservatories in the world. I've played often with the Philadelphia Orchestra and the San Francisco Symphony, and I was the Concertmaster of the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia for 6 years.
I'd like to pass on the knowledge gained from my years of playing in orchestras, chamber groups and solo concerts. My teachers taught me the most refined techniques of tone production and continually showed me how to make the music come alive emotionally and tell a story.
I've also play
ed a lot of music by contemporary composers, in groups like Network for New Music and Orchestra 2001 in Philadelphia, as well as Left Coast Chamber Ensemble in the Bay area. Some special tours I went on were with the Philip Glass Ensemble and with Tan Dun, the composer of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.
My own compositional adventures started in the the late 1990's when I started improvising with a DJ mix in a small club. Since then I have experimented a lot with pickups and electric violin. I've created surround sound collages, improvised music for modern dance, and learned digital audio editing skills. I am knowledgable about Pro Tools and Ableton Live. If you are interested in electric violin, looping or using MIDI effects, I can share what I've learned about these things.
You can make music and be creative no matter what playing level you are on. I believe in having fun as you learn, and I stress learning by example and by ear. Reading music is good, too, but often that gets in the way of listening. We will build a foundation step by step and add on elements when you are ready. Also - I can help you be relaxed as you play. I have never had tendonitis or another occupational injury, thanks to good posture and technique. Body awareness is part of the process. Let's have fun- - you can do this!
NOTE: for students age 7 to 12, I require the parent to be present at the lesson and take an active interest in the student's progress. Also, the child must want to play this instrument.
Gloria has been a wonderful and inspiring teacher over a period of very formative years for me as a violinist. We first worked together for all 4 years of my undergraduate violin performance degree at Mills College from 2010-14, and Gloria helped me develop a lasting appreciation for listening deeply and developing focus for small details. We worked together on everything from solo Bach and Hindemith sonatas to concertos, chamber music, and orchestral excerpts. She has been a lasting influence in my life as a musician, and I will continue to return for musical and creative advice over the years even when I live far away.
Every student has an idea of what music represents to them. I’m simply the tool to add knowledge and support on your musical journey. I teach to your individual needs as a student and find the best style that works for you. I am also a passionate, performing musician and lifelong learner with the goal to teach students not just how to play an instrument, but how to become better people in the process. Playing the violin and viola involves mindfulness and concentration, patience and hard work, and I love helping you, as the student, through this musical experience.
Hello! I'd like to invite you to ask me questions and get to know me before choosing to take violin lessons.
My teaching technique involves a holistic view of music and knowledge. I teach according to your individual needs as a student and find the best style that works for you. Every lesson is powerful, engaging, and has a purpose to help you meet your goals. I am constantly working to make sure that you are making the kind of progress that you want with the violin and viola. Playing an instrument involves mindfulness and concentration, patience and hard work and I love helping the student through their personal musical journey.
"We got a good basic lesson today. Thanks Trinity!"
"I'm very happy with my first lesson. Helena is very informative, and I really like the way she teaches, with wonderful attention to detail. I'm looking fo
rward to next lessons. Meanwhile I'm practicing!"
"Friendly, knowledgeable, and flexible!"
"Leo really liked Rita and the lesson.. they got right to work... she was on time and very focused and friendly... let's keep going !"
"Having studied with different teachers for various instruments my whole life, I must say that Sam was one of the best I've encountered. His unique way of
teaching adult students has helped me grow both technically and musically. Sam is punctual, respectful, and his passion for music is definitely contagious. I highly recommend Sam to anyone who is serious about studying music."
"It has been an honor to know Susanna since her days as a student teacher. She was an extraordinary student teacher and now, with many years of teaching ex
perience behind her, continues to set realistic goals for her students, and for herself."
"Very comprehensive. Very friendly. All around great instructor."
"As a former professional musician with an undergrad in Music, my standards are pretty high when I'm selecting musicians to teach my kids. My son has been
taking viola lessons with Regina for 2.5 years. She is professional but also down-to-earth and great to work with. My son, now an 8th grader, played a level 1 solo at the District and State ISSMA contests and earned a Gold at both levels--the only kid in his school to do so. We credit Regina for appropriately pushing him to be his best. You can be assured that when you choose Regina, you're choosing one of the very best teachers around."
"If you’re reading reviews I bet you’re kinda curious how someone can help you learn Viola online. Let me tell you it really does work!! I am a 26 year old
adult who decided to learn viola and Mimi has been helping me fine tune my notes and read music and theory to get better! I wouldn’t recommend online in the very beginning. I feel it was best to go to a shop, get tape on your instrument to know where the baseline for your fingers go. How much rosin to put on your bow because that is tough to tell via a camera, but once you have the basics taking lessons online is great! Mimi is very patient, she can hear my notes and tell me if it’s flat or my bowing is crooked. I send her sheet music I’m interested, we work on basics like scales then we work on sheet music! And if you’re not happy with it they offer a full refund. I would definitely give it a shot if I were you!"
