I have experience in teaching various methods including the Suzuki method from ages 4 years to 78 years old. I teach both semi-private and private lessons.

I love teaching people how to play songs they enjoy! I'm not too focused on music theory, but am more interested on giving you the tools to play your favorite songs! Playing guitar doesn't have to be difficult or boring. Whether you want to play the Beatles on an acoustic guitar, learn your favorite Metallica riffs or even learn the basics to play at church...I'm your teacher!

You will learn all your chords and sight-reading techniques to be able to play any classical, pop, or rock song that you want!

My name is Russell and I have been playing guitar professionally for 20 years and teaching music and producing records for over 10. David enjoys teaching students from all different backgrounds and levels of proficiency. Whether you are just starting out or a virtuoso shredder in the making, he is happy to teach you! Over all, he is fairly laid back, as long as you practice. He usually combines work with reading off of the treble clef (what he likens to "eating your vegetables." You may not want to do it, but it will make you a healthier musician!) with learning more popular songs (or songs the student says they would like to learn) through tablature and chord charts, depending on the style of the song.

David is also very pro music theory. He usually incorporates music theory into the curriculum in conjunction with the material already being discussed. He is also very knowledgeable about composition/songwriting, and if the student is interested in learning more about this area, he is happy to share what he knows!

I specialize in providing a great foundation for learning the instrument. Too many students, new to the guitar, get frustrated and quit after just a few lessons, because it falls short of their expectations and they find they are not progressing. I make certain to keep the enthusiasm intact through the entire learning process by making sure the student is actually playing the instrument. I like to think of my method as "Fast Track to Playing Guitar"; my goal is to keep the student's interest in the instrument at a sustained level while they are grasping the fundamentals. Because I also teach Voice, and work professionally accompanying myself on the guitar, I can combine these attributes for my students, should they desire to sing and play. I have uncovered many a student who never fashioned themselves as a vocalist, begin singing and playing with astounding results. Just another option made available to my students....
