About Bryan

Hello! Music has consumed me from a very young age, and has been a defining force ever since. I started singing in Kindergarten, and began playing the viola, cello, and saxophone in middle school. During high school, while performing in every vocal and band solo and ensemble I could, it became very clear that I wanted to pursue music in college. I attended Hastings College, a private liberal arts college in the heart of Nebraska, where I received my Bachelor's of Music in Vocal Performance. During college, and since, I have had a private music studio teaching students piano, voice, and a little guitar from ages 5 to 87, so I have seen a great deal of talent over the years. I enjoy all ages and genders, but having been a male in music I am aware of the stigma young males face ...

My son is 7 years old and can sometimes be a little hyper. He has seizures so he is on this medication that makes him a little hyper. I have to say that Bryan is very patient with my son and my son loves going to piano lessons. When he is sick and have to miss class, he actually cries. I live in Mountain House and Brian lives in Oakley, which is a little drive for us. I have to say, it is very much worth the drive. My son had no experience with piano before he started with Bryan and I have to say that he has learned so much in these past few months. Bryan is an excellent teacher and as long as I can afford him, I will definitely continue to take my son to piano lessons.

I've learned more than expected!

Bryan has been an amazing teacher for me as I'm learning to sing at the age of 36. I didn't realize how much was involved with all the technical aspects of singing. Thank you, Bryan, for showing me the way, and allowing me to reach a goal that I have for later this year!

Beginning piano for children and adults

About Sylvia

Music has always been a huge part of my life, even before I knew it would become my career. I began taking piano lessons as a kindergartner and joined my first choir in 5th grade. I began taking voice lessons at age 15 and found my passion in opera by the time I graduated high school. I got my Bachelor of music at the University of California, Santa Cruz, where I sang with Chamber Singers and Concert Choir as both a choir member and soloist. I also sang the roles of Hippolyta (A Midsummer Night's Dream), Third Lady (The Magic Flute), the Mother (The Consul), and Cherubino (The Marriage of Figaro). After college, I moved up to Seattle to get my Master's in vocal performance at UW, where I participated in Chamber Singers, and played the Witch in a whimsical production of Hansel and Gretel. ...

About Jessica

Hi! My name is Jessica and I would love to be your voice and/or piano teacher! I have been studying and performing classical music for 21 years. My relationship with music started at age 9 with the Contra Costa Children's Choir and I have maintained my classical vocal studies ever since. Along with my vocal studies, I studied classical piano privately with Keith Snell for 7 years, competing and achieving high marks in regional competitions. I went on to receive her Bachelor's degree in Music at Mannes College of Music in New York City and finished my education at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, where I received my Masters, receiving training in vocal pedagogy and physiology, as well as vocal performance. I graduated from SFCM in 2009 and immediately began perusing both a ...

Patient and encouraging

I'm always impressed with how Jessica is patient with our 7 year old daughter and still is able to draw her out and motivate her when she is tired from school. Jessica always finds creative ways to be inspirational. Both my husband and I drive 15 miles to be able to have Jessica teach our little girl. We think she is worth it. She has been flexible and always tried her best to work within our schedule and has even driven out to our house to cover a lesson when things didn't work out in the schedule.

Wonderful teacher

Jessica is teaching piano and voice to my 10 year daughter, and I am so impressed with her skills as a teacher. She is patient, encouraging, and inspiring, and her love for both music and teaching is apparent. She is also extremely knowledgeable about music theory and uses a teaching method that's very effective and gets students actually playing music right away, without shortchanging their long term development as musicians. Jessica is a rare find, plus she comes to our house for lessons!

Jessica is great with kids and makes music so much fun!

I have two girls, ages 9 and 6. They both take piano with Jessica once a week. I can't express enough how great Jessica is with them and her ability to adjust to their ages and their ways of learning.
Jessica is so passionate about music which is demonstrated in her teaching style and of course all her education, training, and performances.
Jessica is so wonderful in her communication - showing such support throughout the lesson and has a great ability to explain the music so they understand.
My girls are very fortunate to have such a great mentor and teacher. Jessica is a true professional who is fully committed to music. We could not be happier!

About Donald

Hi. I'm Don. I have been playing the piano for over 40 years, and B-3 organ and synthesizer for over 30 years. My early training was in classical piano, but then I saw the Beatles on Ed Sullivan, and there was no turning back. After a couple of years of teaching myself guitar, I returned to the piano, and later, organ and synthesizer. I ha¬ôve been playing professionally in rock, R&B, blues, country, light jazz, and lounge bands for over 30 years. I did continue to study classical music in college -- piano, theory, composition, and history -- but by then I was committed to popular music. I've always loved teaching -- even while I was in college, I tutored my fellow students in piano and music theory. Along with performing, I have done much recording session work, and have worked ...

Ken is an awesome teacher and an great person. He teaches my 5 year daughter and she loves his lessons and his jovial approach. Within 4 weeks, she has picked up a lot of things and is improving day by day. He is patient as you ought to be with the kids and yet persistent enough to stick to the task.

I am really looking forward to them picking up songs in the coming lessons. I will recommend him anytime and completely vouch for his credentials and ability as an excellent guitarist as well as teacher.
