About Jessica

Hello, my name is Jessi and I'd love to help you build confidence in your violin playing in a friendly, nurturing environment! You'll find a fun-spirited, open-minded teacher in me. I have four years of teaching experience, and I studied Music Performance and Theory at the University of Texas at Arlington. My performance experience spans from years of quartets and orchestras to live-and-loud rock shows to campfire improv jam sessions. We will custom-tailor our lessons depending on your focus. If you don't have one yet, we'll figure that out, too. I enjoy students of all ages (I love adults just beginning!) and I am accepting BEGINNER and INTERMEDIATE students.

Dedicated teacher!

This instructor is very flexible and understanding. He is very knowledgeable and talented and I'm very privileged to be his student. He takes his time to make sure that you are understanding and learning. You can sense his excitement and passion for music and I know that he honestly wants to see me succeed. I even decided to switch instruments after a few lessons and he was very supportive and started all over with me without and objections or irritation!

Beginner Basics: How to Read Violin Sheet Music
The most valuable skill you can develop as a musician is learning to read music. While it’s possible to learn to play “by ear,” reading music opens up the world to you as an artist! There are many different ways to write music. Guitarists often read off of charts outlining the chord progressions for the song. Drummers have a rhythm chart showing them what to play. As a violinist, however, you'll most likely be reading off of violin sheet music. Standard sheet music is filled with directions fo
How to Set Up a Violin Bridge | Violin Tips
There's one important - and slightly intimidating - hurdle that all violin students have in common. Whether you're a complete beginner looking to make a cheap, factory-made instrument more grateful to play, or a more advanced student wanting to customize your "forever" instrument to suit you and you alone, the basic knowledge of how to set up a violin is worth grasping even if your interest doesn't extend much beyond curiosity and a love of tinkering with things. Introduction to Reading Violin Tabs
Tablature is a form of musical notation that was invented to make reading music easier for fretted and string instruments like guitar, bass, and violin. The premise is operationally-based, meaning that rather than showing rhythm, duration, and pitch, violin tabs will show the player where and when to place their fingers on the instrument. For an improvising musician, violin tabs allow you to improvise while staying within the chord structure of a song. Tablature-style notation is most commonly
