Eugene H.

Stafford, TX

About Eugene

Greetings and Salutations! I want to let you know, whether you're a music student or a fellow lover of music, that you have great untapped potential for music! More so than most people would tell you, because music is a powerful, life giving, uplifting gift that comes to all those that love and enjoy it.

If you have a desire to pursue music in any shape or fashion. I congratulate you! You open to yourself a brand new world filled with fun, excitement and great opportunities.

My Philosophy:

There is great music potential waiting to be untapped in yourself. I value greatly the t
ime I spend with every student and wish them to become the very best at the instrument they wish to pursue.

There is indescribable expression to be found in music. A wide range of emotions can be conveyed along with untold stories just waiting to be opened up. I will help foster a student's ability to see music for what it really is and help them strive for whatever musician they wish to become, whether it be for personal fulfillment, just for fun and recreation, or even in the pursuit of becoming an effective classical musician.

My Education:

My mother took me took a classical concert when I was six and I sat in the front of the stringed section. After the concert I made my decision that would shape the rest of my life, I wanted to become like those musicians.

I eventually graduated from a local music school in the following years in piano and violin and immediately went to enter the Tchaikovsky Conservatory. I was among the 10 out of 40 applicants that were eventually chosen, along with being the youngest of them as well.

After four years of study, I graduated and received my Bachelor's Degree in Music. I then went on to study for another year and received my Master's Degree in Piano.

My Other Experience:

I was Church Music Director in Kiev for Living Water Church from 2002 - 2010. I directed the adult choir, directed and led church worship services, accompanied various musicians and managed all aspects of church music responsibilities, including budgeting, rehearsals, planning and library management.

I also have been a private music teacher for several years teaching adults and young students. I planned lessons with them and established their repertoire.

I am also fluent in the Russian language and have extensive computer literacy.

Notable Recitals

*** Lesson Details ***
I pay close attention to the fundamentals of music especially throughout the early lessons. These include reading notes, measuring tempo and rhythm, sight reading, hand positioning, posture, and technique.

I believe in positive reinforcement for all my students. Building a kind and friendly atmosphere is paramount for encouraging students, especially children, to continue pursuing music. Everyone I believe has hidden music potential, and I believe the key to unlocking this is through inspiration. Music is a grand adventure of excitement and discovery for everyone.

I am very kind and honest with my students and am never too strict with them, but I do require and greatly encourage regularly that they make habitual practice a vital part of their musical education. As the old saying goes, "Practice makes Perfect." There is great truth to that saying especially when learning a musical instrument.

Excellent Teacher

I am an older student and I started to learn to play the piano more than a year ago under a different teacher. I started with Eugene about 4 months ago. I was struggling with the piano previously. But after just 2 lessons with Eugene, I found myself playing confidently. Eugene explains so clearly and everything makes sense to me now. I enjoy practicing everyday now. He is excellent teacher, patient, and very professional. He is always on time.

About Yvonne

Along with learning to play an instrument, research shows that you may have improvements in memory, language skills, ability to store audio information, discipline, ability for being attentive and planning, day to day actions such as being alert, motor skills, hearing, emotional perception (pick out exactly what others are feeling just by the tone of their voices; empathy, disappointment, etc.)

She showed up on time and got right to setting up, and seemed to be patient and have a good rapport with my son. I found out he knew even more than I thought about playing, like terms and play styles. He enjoyed the lesson, and is now practicing and trying to write his own music. He's really looking forward to next week which is very encouraging. So far I'm very happy I decided to sign him up for lessons.

I started voice lessons with Dr. Bruton in 2014

When I first started my voice was really bad, I had a range of a 6th. I could not sing "legato" and everything was nasally and bright. I could not act nor felt comfortable on stage when I had to in our studio voice labs. As the first year went by, my notes and voice where making a huge difference, I was singing for connected and also with some support. I went to GHNATS and also placed in the final rounds. His technique helped a lot, his technique is very unique and very helpful when it comes to singing on the breath and also support. His style of teaching is very clear and he gives you tips / comments on what to work for during the week prior to the next lessons. He suggests a journal which is pretty standard in every voice studio the professor usually asks to keep a "practice log"

Dr. Bruton is very personal with every single one of his students, and is very caring and passionate for all his studios. His passion really shows in the way he teaches and the way he focuses on every student he works with. I learned a lot from him, not only voice technique but also acting and how to break down an aria / art song. His method of analyzing the dramatic text from the literature is very helpful in performance. By the time I finished my studies and Junior recital al SJCC, I was singing repertoire by Duparc, Respighi, and heavy / dramatic roles for the Tenor voice because his technique allowed me to do so without tiring or hurting my voice which is a crucial thing. He is very pro vocal health and would not make you do anything that would hurt the instrument, which is great in a voice professor.

Dr. Bruton's help and teachings I was able to successfully apply, audition and got accepted to some of the most prestigious music schools in the nation for voice. Because of his technique and help, I was accepted to Cincinnati Conservatory, UNT, UT at Austin and also I was in the top 40 auditioners for admission to The Curtis Institute, which only two out of those 40 receive acceptance every once a year.

If it wasn't for his time and effort, I would have not been able to get to where I am today and probably the future. If you live in an area where he teaches at, I strongly invite any future voice major who is starting to invest time especially if you go to any of the schools Dr. Bruton gives lessons at. You will learn so so much and will be 1000% worth it. He has opened many doors for me and he can do the same for you.

I have nothing but great, amazing, positive things to say about him. I could keep going on and on. His love for his students and job really shine through in every lesson.

He is the most amazing human being, teacher and the best voice teacher I have ever studied with or that I have been around of.
