I have over 10 years of vocal training, in classical, musical theater, pop and jazz. I graduated Belmont University in 2015 with a degree in Commercial Voice. Not only can I teach you all about the voice & anatomy, I can give you a great foundation for music theory and songwriting. I want to teach you to have the most natural, best sound your voice can produce without getting worn out. Additionally, I want to teach you how to properly run your own sound at a gig and know the foundations of running your own rehearsals/band.
My name is Anna Arata and I would love to be your new voice teacher! I am a professional singer, songwriter, and recording artist here in Nashville.
I started studying the voice when I was 11 years old. This included taking private voice lessons (classical primarily) and participating in several musical theater shows, a middle school jazz choir, and was a member of the Boston Children’s Choir. Through high school and part of college, I participated in musicals, co-lead a girl’s a capella group, performed in a show choirs, and was selected for the All States choir in Massachusetts in 2010. On college breaks, I also volunteered as a teaching assistant (TA) for my former middle school jazz choir. In May 2015, I graduated from Belmont University with a Bachelor of Music, specifically in Commercial Voice. Through my music studies, I have
taken several music theory classes, which have contributed to my ability to analyze music in a technical way. Until now, I have accumulated over 10 years of voice lessons for myself, ranging from classical/opera studies to commercial styles.
Since moving to Nashville in 2012, I have worked consistently as a freelance musician, as well on and off as a teacher. While in college, I started and managed my own swing band, specializing in 30’s-40’s jazz. In our time, we were a part of several radio shows (including Music City Roots), opened for large acts, recorded EP’s and records, and organized tours in the greater Midwest area. Post college and disbanding, I have had many performance-based professional singing opportunities. For the past two years, I have served as the lead singer for the Grand Hotel Orchestra on Mackinac Island, MI. There, I was contracted for two 2.5 month stays during which I performed a variety of jazz and pop classics 7 nights a week. In Nashville, I have successfully gathered my own jazz band. I am a regular performer at Rudy’s Jazz Room in the heart of Nashville. I am capable of leading my own groups and all of the organizing that entails – creating charts/books, calling players, leading rehearsals.
I currently work part time at a non-profit music school. There, I have private voice students, as well as two classes teaching composition and music theory.
Paired with years of performance experience, I have studied extensively in Bel Canto operatic technique as it applies to operatic repertoire, as well as Broadway and genres like Pop, Rock, and Jazz. I have a Bachelor and Masters of Music degree, both in Classical Voice Performance. Although my music training and specialization is in operatic performance focusing specifically on Bel Canto tenor repertoire, I have extensive experience teaching a wide variety of students varying in age, skill, and genre. I have used this acquired skill set to my advantage teaching voice lessons at the School Of Rock Cresskill, NJ franchise for over six years, as well as piano and guitar, who's lessons are also rooted in a classical approach. I also have 3 years of classroom teaching experience as a K-8 parochial school general music and choir teacher.
No matter what genre of music you sing, my vocal instruction is tailored to your specific vocal needs. My goals for you as a singer is to experience the ...
Looking to learn how to sing with ease? Looking for a unique and enjoyable process that will ensure your musical success? I offer a one-of-a-kind experience that will completely change the relationship you have with your vocal instrument.
My main focus will be to help you foster a balanced, healthy singing technique that emphasizes vocal strength, flexibility, and at the same time, longevity of your voice. I strongly advocate to and teach my students to develop a "complete package" to bring with them to their auditions and performances. To accomplish this, I push hard for my students to sing honestly and authentically, but most importantly, comfortably and effortlessly. Vocal instruction includes practice in sight-reading, rhythm, music theory, proper vocal technique, stage presence/etiquette, and confidence building (overcoming “stage
-fright”). In addition, I can provide you coaching in foreign language diction, as well as assist in preparing music selections in English, Italian, German, French and Norwegian; either for audition or recital prep.
Will truly is a master of the voice as an instrument. I've been working with him the last few months and along with improving my technique and ability, he has taught me the science and anatomy behind everything we do. I leave each lesson with more ability, knowledge, and even motivation. Will inspires to constantly push forward, and he practices what he preaches.
On top of all that, he also a genuinely great guy. The time together is as fun as it is informative. I can't recommend his coaching enough.

Will is amazing! He is an extremely kind-hearted, great person and an excellent teacher who truly cares about his students. My son came to him with some natural talent, but no technical foundation upon which that talent could flourish. He gave him the technique first, and soon after, he helped him master the art of expression. The voice can be so beautiful when technique and expression come together.
Our son began formal vocal training with Will when he was 15. Now, at 17, he's reaping the rewards of a beautifully developed voice. We highly recommend Will to anyone serious about singing. We are blessed that our son connected with Will when he did ... he is a musical gem of a teacher. Thank you so much, Will!

I have also performed at many well-known venues such as the Nikon at Jones Beach, Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall, The White House, and more. I travel both nationally and internationally to perform and often find myself singing with the communities I travel to. I have also judged singing competitions, given masterclas
ses to a variety of singing groups, and taught classes at music festivals.

I am a professional singer, songwriter, pianist, recording artist and touring dancer. I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC, Canada and now reside in Nashville, Tennessee. I received my formal musical training with an ARCT in Teaching with the Royal Conservatory of Music. My performing experience plus the formal training, has awarded me the versatility to make learning stress free and fun.
With my move to Nashville, I have been doing more songwriting, recording and producing for myself and other artists. I have an exclusive production contract with a top producer/engineer in Nashville, Grammy nominated Joseph Magee (Pitch Perfect, Miley Cyrus, Jonas Brothers, Metallica, Whitney Houston, Etta James, Manhattan Transfer).
Unique for a young performing artist, I have enjoyed a balance in my life between science and the arts. At a
very young age, I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Genetics from the University of British Columbia, while working as a professional Polynesian dancer crossing the Pacific for numerous performances.
In the beginning of my performance career, I appeared as a finalist in the Voice of the Philippines and Canadian Idol. I then performed on the road in China, Philippines, Japan, South Korea, UK, Ireland, Hawaii, Polynesia throughout Canada and the USA. In addition, my voice has appeared in TV & Film.
As an educator, I’m proud to say that many of my students have won the highest vocal awards at International Music Competitions, scored high on their music exams and progressed to acceptance at top music universities including NYU, Manhattan. I teach my clients in my creative and comfortable home teaching studio in Nashville and online. I work with singers, pianists, songwriters and young producers of all ages and experience levels. Finally reading and basic music theory is the essential skill that separates men from minnows in the sense of making music consistent. The discipline necessary to do this is minimal but important. I trust that you will excel in my class because my methods are tried and true. If at the end of the first lesson you feel you will not progress on your mission with me I completely understand but do think that will be unlikely as I want to share with you my deepest thoughts on how this can be done and in return you will receive the best education possible.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to providing you with some great lessons!
