My lessons are built-up from a person's natural voice. It is genuine and has much more character than trying to unnaturally mold someone's voice. I teach various techniques with accompanying exercises for both group and solo vocal performances.

I enjoy building confidence in singers across multiple levels of experience, with the final goal of making them proud of their own voice and style.

Nico was recommended to me two months ago and I am very glad I reached out. I already feel more confident knowing what to listen out for when singing. He also taught me a couple songs on ukulele so I can accompany myself. Cool teacher & fun jam sessions!

My teaching style is based on making the student feel comfortable. If a student is not at ease, they will not be able to sing properly. I work with beginner students as well as more advanced students, but I treat all students with the same level of respect and patience regardless of their ability. My methods include warm-ups that help teach breath support and vocal placement to stretch vocal range and ease vocal tension that can then be applied to songs. I also help students learn breathing techniques and coping mechanisms to help them deal with performance anxiety.

Unfortunately, yesterday was my last lesson with Mark, as I am moving to Guam. I would definitely not be giving up my weekly lesson with him if that weren't the case! I've learned so much in the short couple months taking lessons from him. I would recommend him to anyone of any skill level. Very helpful and kind. :)

"My daughters and I have been taking lessons with Cheri for almost 5 years now and are absolutely amazed at both the breadth and the depth of her ability. The things she has taught us have ranged from standard classical fare to jazz, improvisation skills (in a variety of musical styles), theory and ear training and lead sheet reading. We have participated in the MMTA contests and both my daughters have received "high distinction" as their result. What I have loved most is that she is so willing to work with each student on their own musical priorities. My 14 year old daughter was asked to be on the Congregational Worship team at church as the piano player. Cheri spent lots of time each lesson working on the specific songs that my daughter needed and helped her get the confidence she needed to play introductions, accompany soloists, match rhythms, and vary the style from verse to verse to make it musically interesting. My younger daughter loved the fact that Cheri also taught guitar skills and spent a year transferring her piano skills to a different instrument. And I have loved the fact that she is gentle with the adult piano learner and has a flexible lesson schedule that will accommodate my busy schedule!

I wholeheartedly recommend Cheri to anyone who is looking for a piano teacher!"

Tips for Singing with Allergies: How Do You Cope?

Spring is in full swing now, and for many, allergy season came right along with it.  Allergies can wreak havoc on your tone, breathing and vocal cord strength - and just like you should take special care when singing with a cold, taking extra precautions if you have allergies is just as vital. Allergy symptoms can vary person to person, but common woes include itchy, puffy eyes, sinus issues, a scratchy throat, and an itchy upper palate (roof of your mouth).  If you suffer from severe aller …
