Experienced music teacher with nearly 10 years experience teaching students of all ages and abilities from beginner to advanced. I also have experience teaching music to students with special needs, including autism and total vision impairment. I begin accepting students at age 4 and teach students up to age 99+. With lessons from me, you'll learn to read music, develop your ear for hearing music (ear training), music theory, and technique with a goal of getting you playing your favorite style of music in the quickest time possible. I can teach you to play whatever style you wish. I can even help you learn to compose your own music! To accomplish that, I use a variety of learning aids and games to assist you in learning to read music and understand the deeper concepts of music theory. I incorporate the use of rhythm and percussion instruments to help you learn and understand the more complicated rhythms of music. I taylor my teaching style to each individual student's needs, learning ...

About Elizabeth

I grew up in a musical family. My mother was a piano teacher for 20 years, and my father could play any instrument he decided to pick up. From as young as I can remember, music was always surrounding me. I came to love it in all its forms and styles. I began playing piano when I was a little girl,

Elizabeth is just the teacher to get your music journey off to a great start! Despite my stiff old hands, she had me playing up to speed and showing steady progress in no time. I have been teaching private piano lessons for five years, and I love working with children of all ages and skill levels. I have been playing the piano for 17 years, and began at a very young age. Because of this, I strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age you start does not matter. I work well with both beginner level students and intermediate level students. I was taught using the Suzuki method, and I use parts of that method in my own teaching. I also incorporate basic music theory lessons into my teaching.

About Abigail

I'm currently a student at Eastman School of Music, majoring in Piano Performance. I began taking piano lessons when I was two years old and loved every minute of it. I enjoy working with children of all ages, and strongly believe that if there is a desire to learn, the age at which you begin does

My 12 year old son loves all music in general, not just a single instrument. He has been playing piano for a while and was able to click with Alex immediately. The way she spoke WITH him ( not just to him) about All aspects was great. She works very well with my son and he is looking forward to his nExt lesson.
Nona R.
I felt very comfortable with her. She was very patient and gave clear instructions on what to work on for next time.
David
Alex is very patient and able to adapt to her students. I studied with her for a year and also got to see other students work with her and she always had a way of getting each student to accomplish their goals. I think when you look for a teacher, you really are looking for someone to teach you how to learn. So many teachers tell you something or tell you what to do but never help you develop a skillset. Alex is different in that she absolutely focuses on developing a fundamental process so that each student not only learns but knows how to learn. As a result, there is progress I can see immediately, of course, but also years down the road. If you're looking for a teacher seriously, consider someone who will make a lasting impact and will make you a better overall person— not just tell you to do something and move on. Alex is a teacher who, regardless if you pursue music, you will come out better because of her teachings. Highly recommend!

"If you’re serious about learning to play piano and willing to put in the work, I honestly cannot think of a better instructor than James. His teaching methodology is creative, fun, yet challenging catapulting students to higher proficiency levels than typically possible with more traditional teaching methods. My 11 year old learning from James is quickly surpassing other kids with many more years of lessons studying other dated, traditional approaches.

James has played for some well known professional acts during his career in multiple music genres (including a presidencial election ceremony)...point being he’s been on the big stage and has reached a level most only dream about. Yet he continues to follow his true passion which is helping others learn and reach their own individual musical aspirations.

In short, James is your guy...look no further."

We've definitely improved in all of the subjects he has taught us: Music Theory, Ear Training, and Piano. "Dora makes learning the piano so much fun for my daughter - she loves coming and keenly practices at home so she can show Dora what she has learnt which i always think is the mark of a good teacher. If the teacher can engage with the student then learning is no longer a chore, it becomes enjoyable and the battle is half won. I have been amazed at the progress my daughter has been able to make. I have held off this review until i had completed 10 leasons and i just think it is phenomenal that from a complete newbie my daughter is now playing 2 handed pieces."
