I am a composer. I have been consulting with Anne about adding a harp part to songs in my River Cantata. She is an excellent teacher. She takes the time and trouble to figure out what I know and what I need to learn. Thanks to her coaching I know my composition is playable and musically effective.
Nannette T.
She’s amazing! She is the most patient and lighthearted harp teacher I’ve ever worked with. She doesn’t expect perfection either, but repetition and practice is important. Have fun with your playing and don’t give up on yourself when playing becomes a challenge!

Anne has been a tremendous help for our daughter's improvement in technique and ability on the harp. She is encouraging, flexible and a wonderful teacher!

If you have an opportunity to study harp with Catherine, jump at the chance and count yourself fortunate! I have taken lessons with Catherine for over 10 years and she has guided me from a relative newcomer to the harp all the way into my professional career (playing for symphonies, opera, ballet, concerts, etc..). Catherine shares her vast knowledge and beautiful musical artistry in the most patient, kind and nurturing way I can imagine. It's a joy and an inspiration to study with Catherine and I always eagerly look forward to any time spent working with her!

I have known Mrs Cathy for over 8 years. She has always been very understanding and you can see how much she loves the harp. Our lessons are productive and challenging, but Mrs Cathy still makes it fun! I look forward to our lessons and feel like I’m learning a lot.
Angelle
Cathy is a gifted musician and an excellent teacher. For me, an adult student with a limited background in music, taking lessons with Cathy (both online and in person) has been the perfect fit. She is patient, makes lessons fun and interesting, understands my musical interests, and helps me find music that I enjoy playing. She has taught me not only technique but also some music theory, which has been very helpful. I am so pleased with my progress. Also, when I first started lessons, I had so many questions about caring for my harp. Cathy taught me how to tune my harp properly, transport it, and even change strings. She also taught me how to position myself properly when playing. Cathy is a wonderful resource for all things related to harps. I highly recommend her as a teacher.

Liza is extremely flexible and patient. She has tailored each lesson to my specific needs and has given me tools I needed to make me a better harp player. She chooses pieces that challenge me and has allowed me to chose from several different pieces/styles that I would enjoy learning, too. If I had to miss a lesson for some reason she went above-and-beyond to accommodate a make-up lesson. She has always been very encouraging and I have loved having her has my harp teacher! --Olivia (14 years old)

I have been teaching harp for over 10 years. I teach with a strong emphasis in technique, employing mostly Salzedo styles with a few French styles in hand and arm position.

I have a series of books from which I teach for all ages, all abilities. At any point I encourage the student to learn songs they like, creating an enriched atmosphere of learning.

I teach music theory, exercises, and sight-reading alongside our weekly studies of pieces and songs. I will help you find the right materials so you can enjoy your lessons!

It is my goal to have students perform pieces with comfort, strength and for memory.

My teaching philosophy is to cultivate a love for music while learning the best way to approach the instrument and learning how to play well. Like any good goal, hard work and patience are needed, but ultimately love and the pursuit of making music.

About Elizabeth

Elizabeth L. has studied music from the age of six. At nine, she began taking harp lessons with Elizabeth Motter, formerly of the Illinois Symphony and currently of the Cincinnati Symphony. Elizabeth spent many summers furthering her studies at various harp camps around the world. In the summer

Elizabeth has been thourough, encouraging, and super cool! She even helped me find a good rental harp (and delivered it) ,and is scoring rock songs for me. She keeps track of progress, sends music to practice, and gives good pointers on technique. I've been playing multiple instruments for 40 years, the harp is a challenge, and I'm so blessed to have found her as a teacher. If you are considering which teacher to go with, go with Elizabeth. You won't be disappointed!!!

As a music teacher of over 10 years I take a fun but structured approach to learning the harp. I've taught all ages and I individually work with each student to help them learn the music that they want to and reach the goals that they set for themselves. I also have a large emphasis on hand position and help my students have the very best technique so they can play their very best. We will typically start with exercises and technique and then move to music. I will then send written individual feedback after the lesson to help remind the student of what we are working on. I hope to have the chance to share my love of music with you!

I am a harpist, pianist, arranger, composer, performer and lover of music. With over 12 years of experience teaching both piano and harp lessons. "Years ago, Lydia was kind enough to try Skype lessons with us, given we are 8-9 hours away from her. We sought a Bible believing, Faith-oriented Christian Harp teacher and she was it! We have been delighted with her teaching, her love for music and for working with the students. We have had the privilege of watching her play in the Orchestra and, traveling the 8-ish hours for Spring and Fall recital and hearing her play with the students and encourage the students on their playing in the recitals. She even recently coached us through a pedal harp purchase and her help was invaluable. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for piano and or Harp instruction."

"Anne is a fantastic teacher who brings so much warmth, patience, and skill to each lesson! She took me from a complete novice who didn't even know how to properly pluck a string to being able to impress family and friends with familiar songs. She doesn't have you go out and spend a ton on books or materials either, which I've experienced while learning other musical instruments. Anne provides very detailed assignment notes with each lesson too, which she then emails so you can have something tangible to refer to while practicing instead of having to take notes yourself or keep it all in your head somehow. Highly recommend taking lessons from one of the best!"
