I have been a professional oil painter for 36 years and have taught oil and acrylic painting classes fro over a decade. I teach a casual, fun but serious style class. My goal is to teach the basics of creating a simple strong painting in a semi realistic style. However, my goal is to allow the student to develop their own individual style. Understanding the creative process is also key to making good art.

About Daniel

My name is Dan. The only thing that I love more than painting is teaching students how to paint. I call my teaching method, "serious play". In other words, I want the students to learn something of value during each class, but also to enjoy the creative process that is key to making a successful p

Keep the brushes wet, make every stroke count! Very patient - you’ve just got to do it. Been invaluable in guiding the composition - he can’t hold the brush for you! For a “left brained” person like myself I need to get the “slap”!😄

Terrible! Missed an appointment, limited knowledge, poor teaching skills. Would avoid..

I have years of experience working with children aged 4-19, and adults who are anywhere between starting a hobby to perfecting painting techniques. Of course, beginners start with basic techniques, but I like to work toward a completed painting within 1-2 hours, when using acrylics, 1 hour or less with watercolors, or approximately 10 hours with oils, due to the drying time required. Everyone likes to end a lesson with something solid to show their progress.
I paint with acrylics, watercolors, oils, and epoxy resin. I don’t have a preference, as each medium is fantastic in its own way.

About Alicia

So you’re considering painting lessons... Excellent idea! Art lessons encourage you to use your imagination, and they help develop hand eye coordination. They’re a fun activity for children’s parties, a great way to get homeschooled children together for socializing, a fantastic introduction to a l

I provide classical instruction in portraiture, still life and landscape in your studio or mine. In this traditional approach to drawing and painting, what will be taught and focused upon are perspective, value and composition in order for the student to develop strong visual language skills. The program of study begins with a specific focus on drawing, since drawing is the foundation upon which all great traditional art is built. Throughout this training, emphasis will be placed on accuracy, or more specifically, seeing and rendering correctly such things as line quality, hard and soft edges, proportion, positive and negative space through abstract form and the use of the full range of values.

About Jeff

I'm a graduate of Dean College in Franklin, MA and The School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston where I majored in art history and studio art with a focus on portrait painting and illustration. I continued further study at the Andeeva Portrait Academy in Sante Fe New Mexico, the Los Angeles Acad

His lessons are both fun and insightful with his teaching methods combining expressionist style and technical skills. "I really love taking painting lessons with Eileen at her studio. First of all, the studio is in an awesome old factory building and has a really cool vibe. Secondly, Eileen knows all kinds of techniques and was really good at settIng up exercises that were simple (not overwhelming or stressful) but still allowed a lot of room for me to experiment with color and brushwork."
