I am very critical of myself and use it to build constructive criticisms I can use to grow. I am hyper analytical, but can adjust to the seriousness of students. I enjoy seeing people grow at a rate they will be satisfied with as well as learning new ways to approach playing the horn.

About Randall

Hello! I am glad you are interesting in learning the horn. Whether you be a new player or an intermediate looking to get a little better before you head into college, I am happy to teach! Lessons will be taught based on the desired outcome of the student. Most literature assigned to students will b

Editing techniques, input and output, audio theory, plug-ins, compression, EQs, multi-tracking, noise reduction...

What's it all mean? What is it about?

I've recorded on many formats and programs over the years, from a pocket tape recorder, to a 4-track, to digital workstations, to PCs with everything from MIDI to USB to Firewire interfaces.

I have recorded drums, guitars, bass, vocals, keyboards, pianos, harmonica, clarinet, tap dancing... just to name a few.
I can show you how to get the most out of your equipment and how to mix and master effortlessly, without the dreaded "killing the vibe" of your recording once editing gets going.

I can show you how to pick out the right microphones, then where to place it, rig it, and take into account sound absorption/reflections. Noise reduction, isolation, gain, equalization, and theory can be discussed. I can help you find materials and even software to create a better recording environment.

I can give tips on playing ...

I believe in getting students playing music they love as soon as possible. I have 9 years of teaching experience, as well as a masters degree in music education from Northwestern University. In that time I have learned how to teach important technique and ear training through playing fun and engaging pieces of music in a variety of styles, from classical to jazz, funk, RnB, ska, and more. Music is a fun, practical subject, and it should be taught that way.

About Laurie

I have 10 years of teaching experience as a private teacher, a classroom music teacher, and a band director. I employ many different styles and methods while teaching, to ensure my students receive a well rounded music education, but also have fun. I love to use backing tracks, and I like to teach

Miss Bonner is a very patient and fun teacher, whose methods have boosted me from a beginner to playing college standard pieces by Mozart. She is great at playing clarinet. Classical, Jazzy; any genre you choose and Miss Bonner can teach you well. At the end of the school year, I won an award for being the best member in our school band. I could never have done it without Miss Bonner.
Jason
Ms. Bonner has been such an inspirational teacher over all the years she has taught me. She has helped me improve my clarinet techniques by pushing me to join various bands and best of all, introduced me to Jazz. Also, she is a really fun teacher, always making her lessons fun and entertaining. Without her, I wouldn't have the enthusiasm I have now for music.

Acquiring good habits and building confidence are invaluable when it comes to studying an instrument and when playing with others. Each student brings their own unique personality to the lesson process and therefore requires a different approach to learning. I encourage students to rely on their individual strengths regardless of any specific method or philosophy of teaching. It is extremely rewarding to see the joy as students not only reach milestones, but ultimately become their own best teachers!

About Cornelia

I am a graduate of the Juilliard School and a frequent guest artist and faculty member at the nations’ leading festivals and summer programs. Having taught for over 20 years, I have an extensive background working with a wide range of students in private and group settings. In addition, I work clos

Many years ago I was coached in a chamber music setting by Cornelia (in one hour the piece had been wholly transformed), and when my daughter, then 6, came to me and said she wanted to play the violin, I knew exactly whom to call. I was a little worried then that Cornelia might not take beginners, but to my joy, her attitude is (excuse me for putting words in your mouth, Cornelia) "Of course I take beginners! How else to keep them from developing bad habits in the first place?" Fast forward to now: that 6 year-old became the concertmistress of the NEC Youth Symphony in Boston, has traveled around the country and around Asia playing the violin with the highly competitive National Youth Orchestra, and continues to play with excellent players to this day--and all because she was set on the right path by Cornelia, who is focused and kind. She's also demanding of excellence, and wildly enthusiastic about your progress. If you want to pay for lessons but don't really care about what kind of job you do, go somewhere else. Cornelia is the real deal. Violin isn't easy: if you want to start right, start here. If you want to get better, you've come to the right place. If you want really to think about the music you're playing, she's your guy. Plus she's got a great laugh.
Nancy
A consummate professional and gifted teacher. Her love of the instrument is infectious. Her sense of humor puts you at ease.
Mikko
Cornelia is fantastic! We have been going to her for years. We have also heard from friends that she is the best violin teacher in the area. It would be hard not to agree. If you want to learn to play violin, she is the teacher for you. If you do not want to work hard and be accurate with your playing, then probably better to move on.

Chris was very patient and provided great advice, examples and coaching. This is my first voice lesson and I am 54 years old and I was very nervous and unsure, but Chris made me feel comfortable and relaxed. I am looking forward to the next lesson and I am already practicing. My goal is to improve my singing and perhaps one day be on a local stage playing a small part, something that has been in my system for many years! I believe Chris will provide me with the training that may one day assist me in achieving my goal.
