Become comfortable with daily conversational Japanese. I also offer music lesson in Japanese.

About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Dorinda(Cantanti project), Pamina (Die Zauberflote) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen)
with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Academie Internationale d'Ete de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflote) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.

My international credits include studies at the Academy Internationale d'Ete de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti, Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel; and an appearance at the Young Artist's Concert in Tokyo, Japan.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. My voice was featured in short films for NEC, the Japanese technology company.

I was also selected as a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center, the Hariclea Darclee Voice Competition in Romania, and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition. In the summer 2014, I received a scholarship to perform at The Savannah Voice Festival that is founded by Metropolitan Opera/Grammy Award Winner Opera Star Mr. Sherrill Miles. My upcoming engagement includes singing the title role of Madame Butterfly with Snob Opera in Montreal and Quebec that is supported by Quebec City.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I have been fortunate to study with the world renowned teachers. I continue my vocal studies with Mr.Gerald Martin Moore who teaches Tony award winner Kelly O'Hara, Met star Renee Flemimg and Mr. William Hicks who was a coach for Luciano Pavarotti at The Metroplitan Opera. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together.
I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians.
Let me help you become a better musician.

I'm almost afraid to write this review lest Asuka's schedule gets totally filled with new students:) I started lessons with Asuka Nov 22 as a beginner and by January 15 the notes I could sing increased by an octave.

My high C/C6 came by early December, a couple of weeks after starting with Asuka. Some of this is my voice type, but I believe anyone who works with Asuka will see improvement.

I am taking lessons with a well-regarded pop teacher from the same time period and I've developed almost entirely from Asuka's lessons vs the other teacher, and quickly too with consistent practice. What Asuka teachers carries over to non-classical singing also.

Asuka is not rigid in her approach, thankfully, and she is so nice about the million things beginner singers can correct. I don't feel embarassed singing in front of her because she is non-judgmental.

I did some online lessons when she was traveling, and I got just as much out of them so even if I leave New York I will continue working with her.

Hiromi is wonderful. This was my 13 year old son's first lesson on piano, and Hiromi tailor made the lesson to fit his level of experience. He was able to improv and experiment with the keyboard, and Hiromi guided him through perfectly, while then following up with structure. Thanks to Hiromi and a wonderful first lesson. :)

I received my bachelors degree from International Christian University in Tokyo, where I lived for five years. In Japan I worked in customer service and as a translator and interpreter, so I am comfortable with both formal and informal Japanese, and I believe it is important to learn both. I grew up in Honolulu, where Japanese is widely taught as a second language, and have extensive experience tutoring learners of the language. I can also teach violin lessons in Japanese.

About Kelsea
I began teaching violin when I was in high school, and have taught various students in the years since. I also have extensive experience working as a nanny, and have worked with all ages, from infants to teenagers. In addition to having studied classical violin for 17 years, I am a songwriter and arranger, and perform my string arrangements with other songwriters in various venues around New York City. I have a bachelors degree in linguistics with a minor in music from International Christian University in Tokyo, where I researched the cognitive relationship between speech and music for my graduating thesis. I recently moved to Western Mass after finishing my master's degree in violin performance at Belmont University in Nashville.

**I do have a dog and a cat, so if you or your child has a pet allergy, lessons in my home will not be th
e right option for you.

Japanese is my pet subject, and I am passionate about both learning and teaching it! Whether you're about to start learning yourself or are already learning and looking for extra help, congratulations! I have been teaching Japanese for two years to a variety of students, such as college students and military preparing to be stationed in Okinawa. Teaching Japanese is a particular passion of mine, because even though I wanted to learn as a high-schooler I had to wait until my sophomore year of college to find a teacher. Japanese learning should be far more easily accessible, and that's what I'm here for! Whatever your goal is, to learn Japanese for professional purposes, private purposes, or even just to watch your favorite TV programs without subtitles, I make it my personal goal to help you achieve it. I look forward to helping you succeed with Japanese!

About Emily
Howdy! I have an undergraduate degree in Classics and an MA in ancient history, and I have been teaching/tutoring since 2009. I know first-hand how much hard work can achieve, but my experience in teaching has also taught me that the work doesn't have to be so hard when a student has experienced, dedicated help. That's what I'm here for! I have done both paid and volunteer teaching, and I have worked both for myself and for a university. I have taught a wide range of students - ADD students, injured students unable to attend normal classes, struggling students - in a variety of environments. I have experience teaching to groups and individuals; face-to-face, chat-room style, and via video conferencing. I teach language because I have a passion for it, and my goal with my students, whether they are learning a new language or furthering the
ir native English skills, is always to help them achieve their own language learning goals. I look forward to helping you achieve yours!

Japanese is one of the hardest languages for a Westerner to learn. When my job sent me to Tokyo in 2012, I was excited to pick up the language as I had with Italian years earlier. But most teaching methods I found were positively awful, and served to confuse the student. So I developed my own combination of methods to learn Japanese as quickly as possible, and achieved fluency in six months. After that I began instructing Japanese classes for Americans living in Tokyo, creating my own curriculum from total beginner to fluency, helping more than 300 students enrich their experience of Japan by speaking the language.

Japanese is unlike any other language in the world, and I would be delighted to show you the incredibly rewarding path to fluency.

About Luke
I am deeply passionate about sharing knowledge with others and have been lucky to be teaching my entire adult life. There are so many enriching experiences available to us when we learn more about the world.

Foreign languages are among my favorites, and I have specialized in teaching Latin, Italian, and Japanese. As a geologist, I am also profoundly interested in the sciences. When I teach I like to understand where my students are coming from, what really inspires them, and help them to enjoy and love what they want to learn. For me, learning is always fun, so whether you like to study or you are having trouble motivating yourself to concentrate, together we will discover the joy and fun in what you are studying.

I am a native Japanese speaker with a Japanese teaching credential. All ages and levels are welcomed! Lessons are customized and catered to the needs/goals of each student. I am also qualified to tutor graduate students (Master’s and PhD) doing their thesis.
I believe when we learn other languages, it is important to learn their culture, history, etc. for better understanding. I’ve learned Japanese drums, how to wear Kimono, Tea and flower ceremonies so that we can explore Japanese culture more than just learning the language!

Bio:
I have been in love with language my whole life. This led to learning and studying English for the past 30 years. In learning English I rediscovered my love of Japanese language as well. I would like to share my enthusiasm for Japanese language with you.

My family inspired me to become an educator as well where I would have the chance to make a difference in students' educational, social, and emotional well-being. I earned my teaching credential from Kochi Women's University in Japan and a Master's in Intercultural communication from Kobe University, Japan.

During graduate school days, I worked as a tutor for international Master's and PhD students to assist them on their theses in Japanese. After I moved to Los Angeles, I started my career in the corporate world, and have worked in the US, Canada and Japan for last 15 years. In Canada, I taught Classic Japanese and Chinese Poetry at Toronto Japanese School as a high school teacher.

After two years working as a translator/interpreter for a local government office in Kochi, Japan, I moved back to the US last year. Since then, I have been a private tutor of Japanese for all ages, currently from age 7 to mid-40s. I love to be a witness when my students suddenly "get" something new we've been working on for a while. Japanese is a fascinating, beautiful, and complicated language, and it's exciting to be a partner in my students' achievements and success!

I have a lot of experience teaching middle school and high school age students--including my own kids, whom I homeschool. My first visit to Japan was a semester study abroad in my senior year of high school, and I've lived there off and on since then. My students receive the benefit of my life experiences there, including preparation for the realities of daily life in Japan--from how to use the public transit, to what to do during a natural disaster.

Our son has always been interested in foreign languages. He began teaching him self Japanese in early 2014. He asked us to help him locate a tutor so he could accelerate his learning. We started working with Claire in late 2016 at the age of 14. It has worked out great! She is patient, professional and organized. She keeps us appraised of his progress. Clare has a perfect balance for a homeschool instructor. Half "strict" teacher and half fun innovator we have found her balance of worksheets/homework along with Youtube videos to watch and Japanese games to play to be just what we need. My boys are 8 and 10. The 10 yr old actually has a learning disability and he does better in Japanese than with some structures in English!!

When the child is born he or she can not immidiately talk and they learn their own native language mostly from the parents in the family. Taking it like a game! To formate such a friendly relaxed atmospere family-like atmoshere is the most important task of the Teacher ot the Tutor. But do not forget that when the children start to behave incorrectly, or their own way, they may recieve not even strictly speaking phisical or moral punishment not even condemnation. Never! Encouragement that mistakes are possible but still Learning backgound and Investigaring, Exploring spirit can turn to be the solid basis of the progress in learning. Better to make you thinking not only about beloved yourselves but about others. That is one of the important basic of the Japanese moral and social norms

About Anatoly
Even hard working and learning are the best jnly with a hearted honest smile. One of the best ways to master foreign language is through the local culture (folclore) and hillbilly music. Both are international as some kind of the borderless instrument. One should learn letters and musical notes but without studying of the approaches to harmony he could hardly approach to the balance The instrument is plain but hardly understandable alone. Together we can master everything!
