Patryna teaches in such a way that you do not need to ask the same questions over and over. She is very patient and gives you the understanding you need to be a successful Writer. Unlike others that I have worked with, Patryna teaches in a way that you feel loved and not like just any other client. I did not just gain another skill but a loved one. I would invite Patryna in my home anytime she in my area.

I'm flexible to teaching any kind of basic percussion. The student may choose to focus on drum set, mallets, hand drumming, or even basic theory. I love working with any age group and have a strong passion for percussion and teaching people what I know. As far as my experience goes, I am currently working on a degree in Music Performance from the Greatbatch School of Music which I plan to receive in May 2020. I have also taught lessons to children, young adults, and the elderly for several years now and truly enjoy what I do.

About Kylie

Hi there! My name is Kylie. I'm a current student at Houghton College. I'm currently working towards getting my Bachelors in Music Performance in May 2020. I would absolutely love to take the time to teach and get to know anyone who is interested in learning any form of percussion/Drumset.

My goal as a vocal pedagogue is to create a positive environment in my studio where my students can reach all of the goals that they set out to achieve.  It is important for my students to feel a warm, welcoming atmosphere, where they can make mistakes, take risks, and ask questions. The art of singing is a whole-body experience and it is essential for students to train and practice like an athlete would train for a high-level event.  I encourage my students to do some sort of physical activity that has an emphasis on the abdominal muscles (i.e. yoga, pilates, tai chi, weight routine), so that they feel what it is like to use the whole body as well as strengthen their core muscles. This directly relates to an appoggio based breath support, which is the technique I utilize in my own singing and in my studio.  I teach my students to use their entire body when they sing. I believe that students should practice physicality with gestures, so they can get connected to their whole body and ...

Jamie is patient, encouraging, and helps you learn detailed techniques to make your voice sound better, as well as have lasting notes.

Jamie is a natural teacher of her craft! Her ability to quickly assess and adapt lessons to my daughters’ personalities and preferences of music, as well as her incredibly positive and encouraging demeanor, has made taking voice lessons a great learning experience for both of them. She is very dedicated to finding ways that work for each student to understand how to use their voice and find their breath, and even given the current circumstances of having lessons via FaceTime because of social distancing, the quality and level of expertise of her lessons have not faltered in the least. We are fans!
Marie
Jamie's approachable and friendly personality is reflected in her teaching style - she is not afraid to have you try various unconventional techniques that turn out to be super effective and fun! In the year I've been taking lessons with her, my breath support, technique, and vocal range have all improved significantly - so much so that a high note that I found strenuous a year ago is now almost within my comfort range! She is very receptive to different styles of music, and her suggestions are always challenging, fun, and geared towards developing your voice.

My strongest opinion is that singing should be fun!
It is one of the purest forms of musical expression in my humble opinion. A persons voice is theirs, and there’s alone. When they choose to share it with other it is a very vulnerable and beautiful act.
However, singing is also fun and freeing. It is liberating as well as empowering to improve one’s singing voice.
As a vocal student is and teacher, I enjoy helping others find their voice.
EVERYONE is capable of seeing! And that is something I wholeheartedly believe.
As a teacher I am honest. I am fair, but I am not harsh.
I have been seeing since the age of six, I have been classically trained for the past seven years, and I am now direct children’s choir as well as perform on multiple community choirs. I have studied theater, jazz, pop, and classical voice styles. And I enjoy all stylings.

I have been teaching guitar for 6 years. I have an earned Masters degree in music and enjoy teaching students of all ages. I am happily married with 5 children at home--4 of them are musicians as well (the youngest is 4).. Students will quickly learn not only the basics of music theory, but will be playing songs as early as their first lesson. It is extremely rewarding watching students have fun, excel, and fall in love with making music. I presently teach music at 3 schools (1 college) and only have a few lessons slots available. I look forward to working with you.

"Julie? Yes.

I wanted to start taking the violin seriously, and Julie was certainly the best teacher for that (and still is!). She helped me prepare for my audition for my school's chamber group and although I did not make it that year (being that I had started lessons a couple months before my audition day), I did the next year. Not only that, I made it by a long shot. I was fifth chair, first violin. Even before then I noticed how much I had improved studying with Julie. She not only worked with me on how to efficiently practice and approach the music itself, but taught me proper technique to yield the best sound--for instance, using the ENTIRE bow, an important thing to do... She is patient, her instruction is invaluable, and improvement is guaranteed (given that you also work hard). It is also superfun playing duets with her <3."

"Excellent teacher! Sarah is patient, engaged, and organized. Right from the start, she tested my voice to see where we should begin. Nearing the end of the lesson Sarah left me with a bunch of helpful tips and techniques to practice developing my voice.
My second lesson was just as great but due to where I was I was a bit nervous to sing too loud. Sarah quickly adapted to the situation and we worked on vocal exercises and worked on a song we had been working on. Thank you, Sarah, you are the best teacher!^^"
