Japanese is known as one of the most complicated languages. Learning to speak the language, however, doesn't have to - and shouldn't - be complicated at all! Simplified, structured methods that I use will help you stay the course and accelerate your progress for your personal or professional needs. The ability of not only understanding but also having authentic conversations can be yours!

Having been a teacher of Japanese as a second language certified by the Education Ministry of Japan since the 90's, I've had the privilege of teaching diverse learners in age, nationality, proficiency, and more. Masahiro has been a great teacher for my kids. They took lessons from him through summer and fall and learnt a lot of martial art techniques. Masahiro was always very patient and supportive with their progress. I highly recommend teacher Masa (as my kids called him)! Thank you.
David
Masahiro was incredibly wonderful as an instructor. I've done martial arts for 15 years, and practiced 5 to 6 different martial arts. Masahiro was one of the best I've trained with. He was able to adapt to a person's style, was able to instruct in an excellent fashion despite having a limited view of my technique (since it was done remotely). I give the highest recommendation.
Mal P.
My kids enjoyed their first lesson with teacher Masa. The were engaged in a fun filled learning environment the whole time and came out learning how to block and punch! They are already looking forward to their next lessons!

I was introduced to Oyamada-sensei through a friend of mine who also had attended his lessons for a long while. Oyamada-Sensei is great. He always comes to lessons with high energy and we end up talking about film, anime, and games for a few minutes all the time, it seems.

I work 40 hours a week and often have to do lessons late at night. Oyamada-sensei has not only been flexible, but very patient with me given my schedule and available time for study. He's always met me halfway and never been judgemental; something I deeply appreciate.

If you're looking to learn ζ—₯本θͺž as a beginner (like me) or if you want to sharpen your skills, Sensei has you covered!

Ever since I discovered Dragon Ball Z on Toonami back in the early 2000's, I have come to develop a love of all things Japan, specifically anime and J-pop. My experience with learning Japanese started back when I started studying at home with my older brother back in 1999 or so, and then started studying Japanese at college, which culminated in the completion of a minor in Japanese as part of my BA. I have also visited Japan one time to visit my older brother who was teaching English over there at the time. I love Dragon Ball (among many, many other anime) and T.M. Revolution.

O genki desu ka?
Hi, I'm Richard, and I can teach you simple Japanese. I graduated from BYU in Japanese and lived as an LDS Missionary in Tokyo for two years in 2003-2005. I love teaching everything that I know in a simple, understandable way. So I can help you learn the basics faster than you would normally. I know what it's like learning in school where you seem to take forever, and don't get very good. I also know what it's like talking to many people in Japan, and learning very quickly, and knowing the difference. I want to help you learn as efficiently and as quickly as possible. I also have a one hour presentation of the basics of Japanese grammar, that basically covers like the first 2 years of college Japanese classes! No joke, it's a powerpoint presentation I've put together that will really give you the "big picture" with the backwards grammar that we try to understand. Ask me any question, and I'll do my best to help you out! Mata ne!

About Richard

My goal is to help students ENJOY the piano by finding ways to make it easier and doable. I have a very useful approach in helping students become self sufficient to sight read very well, to see patterns, understand music theory to either help them play well, or to even create their own music(I co
