I have a very practical approach to teaching guitar! I was taught how to play by ear first, at 2 years old and later studied music theory to connect the dots. I love to find patterns and predictability in music to make it easy to navigate through. If you feel like you wouldnt succeed in a traditional music lesson setting, join me for discovery, epiphanies and “Aha!” moments! I specialize in Worship Music and Worship band dynamics and theories however I strive to teach students exactly what they want to learn to encourage the idea that we tend to want to practice things we like or we’re good at! I offer Intermediate and Advanced Guitar Lessons for electric, acoustic, and bass guitar. I have over 20 years playing and songwriting experience, including live shows, recordings, and tours; I've been lead guitarist for the metal band Locusta since 2006. I've been teaching guitar for 14 years and have had thousands of hours of teaching experience in that time.

Lessons are available on advanced topics such as music theory, songwriting, lead guitar technique, sweep picking, and classical guitar (i.e. Bach/Spanish guitar), as well as non-guitar specific subjects like home and studio recording, ear training, rhythm, and drum programming (no drum experience necessary). Personalized lessons are offered as well as structured 4 to 8 week courses on specific subjects.

I mainly specialize in rock and metal but enjoy listening to and teaching classical, jazz, (old)country, blues, funk, or almost any other kind of music. I play in a death metal band and my favorite guitar players range ...

Enough about me! We all know that everyone learns differently and has different strengths and weaknesses. My process is to analyze each student's unique abilities and to create a personalized learning experience for everyone. I have taught people from 5 to 83. I believe it is important to be empathetic to each person's needs, for example, I have experience teaching left-handed people, kids with Cerebral Palsy, Asperger's syndrome, people with missing fingers and other difficulties. Parents always ask me how I can be so patient with their kids, (the real secret is that I don't have to take them home ;) but on a serious note, I always remember the extreme amount of frustrating hours I put in before I got any real results. I have over 20 years of profession touring and studio experience playing with some of the biggest names in the business that I bring to my lessons. I studied music in school and have continued to teach over the years which gives me the ability to use teaching and music school language with real world live performance experience. If you want to learn to play the way the pros do and have a lot of fun in the process, then this might be for you. My approach involves learning songs that you want to learn and teaching you techniques and theory in the process. Music is fun and should also be when taking lessons. Let’s get started!

Having a variety of experiences professionally and academically, I am very well suited to cater to the interests of my students. I am currently getting my Master's degree in classical guitar performance, but I often include a variety of styles in order to motivate your practice times at home. Whether you want really nail the sound of a Black Sabbath riff, learn to solo over a blues progression, or even learn a piano piece on guitar. I can help give you the tools to form your own musical identity.
