While I teach music reading, as any other good teacher should do, for those students who are interested in learning to play by ear, I also concentrate on improvisation and playing from chord charts. Fun and effective, my approach will help you learn quickly and enjoy the process!

About Eric
For almost 25 years, I've had the privilege to have worked with thousands of performers who study with me from all over the world. I teach in-studio at my two locations in Houston and in The Woodlands, Texas. I also work with students who come to me from all over the globe via online over-the-web Skype lessons.

Originally from Detroit, I enjoyed being a "Jack of all styles" singer/musician for over 15 years. I was a professional musician performing Classical, Jazz, Pop, Rock, Gospel, Musical Theater, Commercial and Studio work, along with being very involved in Contemporary Christian music. While I very much loved to perform, I found myself drawn much more to the joy of teaching. Vocal instruction and improvisational piano teaching eventually became my passion, and so I've poured my time and energies into teaching singers and players t
o become, well… better musicians!

I have been singing in Choirs and Bands for a number of years and learned more about my voice and singing properly in a 45 minute session with Eric than I have in all my years of performing. I now understand why I have been struggling to sing in my upper register and Eric has put together a personalized program to help me develop my voice and gain back my vocal range. Eric has a great sense of humor and made the session very enjoyable as well as informative. I look forward to my next session and would highly recommend Eric as an instructor.

Eric has coached me for more than two years. Each lesson was personalized and has helped me to improve gradually. As I could download the recording of the lesson, I was able to practice between lessons. Eric has been very supportive and was very open to my unique music taste. I really feel comfortable now singing thanks to him.

I often incorporate beginner piano, music theory, and ear training into my voice lessons. Many of my voice and songwriting students aim to learn how to accompany themselves, and an understanding of scales and chords on the piano helps tremendously with pitch and being able to sing in tune.

I am primarily a voice teacher, but if a student would like to learn how to play chords and scales, as well as develop an understanding of how to read music and play piano on a basic level, I have had much success in breaking down the piano in a simple and digestible way!

About Brittany
Brittany offers private lessons in commercial and/or classical voice, songwriting, music theory, and ear training. She graduated the commercial music program at Belmont University with a focus on voice, songwriting, and music business in 2013.

Brittany brings a unique skill set to the table, having studied and performed a range of musical styles with hands on experience in Nashville's music industry. Brittany frequently writes on Music Row with professional songwriters, is a demo singer in professional recording studios, and performs with her special event band, The Golden Band.

Brittany has years of paid, professional experience as a singer in several different settings, so her ability to relate to any student and help them truly understand and achieve their goals is notable. Brittany has performed as a solo artist in restaurants
and other public venues, singing country and pop music; she has also performed as a soloist in classical settings, as part of a duo in a wedding band, as a member of several choirs and ensembles, including a capella groups; she has also been cast in several lead roles and ensemble roles in countless musicals.

For the same price as your average voice lesson, you will gain so much more knowledge in the field of music while you sharpen your skills with Brittany! Each student is different, so Brittany clearly identifies each student's specific goals and designs a unique lesson plan to achieve them.

Was skeptical at first but that was quickly turned around. My daughter absolutely loved Brittany and I could see they hit if off from the beginning. The instructor was polite, friendly, very encouraging, and motivating. I was thinking this would be a short term deal for a life experience as a birthday present to my daughter but I see now that I may be in this long term! We're all excited for the next session.

Brittany is absolutely fantastic with my 13 year old daughter who has never had any vocal training before. We are five lesson in, and from day one, you could tell Brittany really knows her stuff. We have seen fantastic progress in such a short time. Brittany's knowledge, patience, enthusiasm, and own personal talent shine through. My daughter looks forward to each and every lesson. We were lucky to find Brittany and I highly recommend her.

While teaching classical piano, I always try to incorporate the material that students like the most: Holiday songs, Broadway melodies and favorite cartoon songs. All of this definitely adds to the enjoyment of learning how to play. Besides having two recitals a year, I encourage students to play in front of their peers at school, to always play for their families and to participate in various competitions and festivals around the St.Louis area.

About Daniela
Hi ! My name is Daniela and I can't wait to meet you!
I have been teaching piano and theory since 1994 and have loved helping my students discover the beautiful world of music. Seeing my students grow into well rounded and educated people that love art, are able to recognize different styles of music, express their feelings and emotions on this wonderful instrument makes me really happy. My students range from people who simply want to learn how to play proficiently as a hobby to students who are considering making music their future career.
I strongly believe that a chance to go on a big stage and play on a great Steinway piano in front of people, makes a big difference in children's lives: teaches them self control, gives them great sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Taking part in festivals and piano competitions helps
with building high self esteem even more.
I look forward to helping you and your children to reach your goals!

Having opportunity to work with Mr. Gryaznov, who is a top class performer, is such a privilege. His tremendous experience, both as concert pianist and pedagogue, makes him quite unique. I believe that every student can benefit working with Mr Gryaznov, as he shares his knowledge, talent and advices in a such sincere way.
Having recording sessions in Gryaznoff studio was for me, equally enjoyable process. Relaxed and warm atmosphere, professional equipment, together with the brilliant Hamburg D Steinway makes this studio one of the best of its kind in the heart of New York.

I love teaching piano and absolutely love helping students find their passion when learning music. I am patient, fun and try to teach in a way that's engaging to the student as they go through the learning process. I add other elements to my lessons as well such as visuals and other activities that boost comprehension and engagement. There is no student who can't learn and excel!

About Jonathon
Hey there! So first off, teaching is my passion and I absolutely love helping students find their own excitement in learning. I am a public school teacher who teaches music in the classroom, so I really know the importance of making lessons fun and engaging. I graduated from Capital University with a bachelors in music, then later with a masters in education. I understand the need to treat each student as a unique learner. I am super patient and make it a priority to find a pace that best fits the student's learning style. As long as the student is making progress, there is no such thing as too fast or too slow! I really like using visuals and media to help the student comprehend the skills needed...this also makes the process fun! I really do well in the contemporary style but can also teach a variety of different genres as well. I look
forward to helping you on your learning journey!

Even before my time at Berklee, I spent years striving to put myself into every musical situation possible. This gave me a multi-perspective understanding that allows me to comfortably advise students of all ages and backgrounds regarding several different instruments, styles, and theoretical concepts.

My favorite part about teaching, regardless of discipline, is the fact that it allows me to keep growing and learning while sharing my experiences to help others do the same. So whether you want to work on jazz, pop, or classical, feel free to reach out, and I will happily customize and create the learning environment that you desire!

About Ryan
I am new to TakeLessons! I am a professional pianist, vibraphonist, and percussionist. I recently graduated from Berklee, where I spent much of my time composing, arranging, and performing.

I specialize in Jazz, but also frequently help people learn the arts of classical and pop music. Whether or not the student wishes to learn to read, I place a lot of value in scales, intervals, chords, and other core concepts that help us better understand any style of music. It doesn't matter if you are learning to write, improvise, or just learn music more quickly; once you grasp the theory, anything is possible!

Ryan is my daughter’s piano teacher, and she looks forward to her lessons every week with him. She is 10 years old. He focuses on ear training, and site reading with note recognition, as well as rhythms and time signature, but he really delves deeply into the theory of music with her, something not all piano teachers would do with the 10-year-old. When she joined a band at school, we found out that she truly understands the structure of the key signature, and how to count out 16th notes!! Very impressive :-). Feel free to contact me anytime for further questions, I would give him my highest recommendation.
