Become comfortable with daily conversational Japanese. I also offer music lesson in Japanese.

About Asuka
I started my musical training as a pianist at YAMAHA institute at age 4 in Japan. I was selected to enter perfect pitch class. It was designated for students who have perfect pitch and potentials to be professional musicians.

I enjoyed playing piano and electric piano and won the 1st prize at Kitakantou Electric Piano Competition hosted by YAMAHA institute. Because of the intensive training, I have been accompanying my students' recitals and performance exams.

As much as I enjoyed playing piano, I discovered that I also love singing, so I started to take singing lessons and majored in vocal performance during my college days.

Since I have graduated, I have been performing opera professionally. My career highlights include roles as Cio-cio san(Madame Butterfly) with Snob Opera, Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Fairy(Falstaff) with Sir B
ryn Terfel with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England, Dorinda(Orlando) with Cantanti Project, Pamina (Die Zauberflöte) with Opera Manhattan Studio, Frasquita (Carmen) with One World Symphony, Zerlina (Don Giovanni) and Clorinda (La Cenerentola) with Capitol Heights Opera, Alice (Le comte Ory) with West Side Opera Society, Adele (Die Fledermaus), Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), and Myrrhine (Lysistrata) with Opera Avanti, Gilda (Rigoletto) with Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, and The First Spirit (Die Zauberflöte) with the Opera Company of Brooklyn.

My international credits include performances under the direction of Conductor Laurent Pillot at the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Liverpool, England;the Académie Internationale d'Eté de Nice, France; the Daniel Ferro Vocal Program in Chianti,Italy; the International Vocal Arts Institute in Tel Aviv, Israel where I was selected to sing for the Japanese Ambassador.

I made appearances as a soloist at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Symphony Space, Town Hall, and MOMA museum in New York City and the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Hall.

As a versatile singer, I was presented as an aspiring opera singer on the website of Maybelline New York. Her voice was featured in short films for the Japanese technology company NEC. I appeared as a soprano soloist for the opera, Jazz and theater collaboration of "TAKE ABITE" by David Antonio Cruz. I also sings Broadway songs and continues her musical theater studies. She is an active recitalist and also performs Oratorio works.

I was also a finalist at the Opera Idol Competition at Lincoln Center in New York City, The Hariclea Darclée Voice Competition in Romania and the Mario Lanza and Elaine Malbin Vocal Competition in New York City. Ms. Uchida was selected as a vocal scholarship recipient at Savannah music festival.

Her upcoming engagements in 2019 include performing concerts with Philharmonie Teplice, Neubrandenburg, Germany, the title role of Lucia di Lammermoore and a lieder recital with Opera After Hours, New York. Asuka is invited to give a recital at Festival dell’arte in Wojanow, Poland in August 2019.

Besides being an opera singer, I have been teaching piano and voice for 11 years. I would like to share my skills and experience with you. Since I perform often, I can coach you how to perform on stage in addition to building solid technique and languages. Also, I have taught various kinds of music, such as Rock, Broadway musicals, Pop music, so we can work on all kind of music.

I look forward to teaching you soon!

*** Lesson Details ***
My students can expect to improve their skills and start to enjoy music more as we work together.
I believe that learning music is fun and enjoyable. However you also need to be serious and focused.
I can demonstrate various and specific techniques, phrasing, and interpretation and will always coach on how to develop your skills. However, I feel it is important for students to think critically on their own and take the first try at solving a problem themselves. I cannot emphasize enough that primarily it is you who find the ways to improve. Leaning music is a collaboration between teachers and students. I hope that through my lessons, students will become more self-sufficient and confident as musicians.
Let me help you become a better musician.

On behalf of my son who is 15. Before finding Asuka, Lukas had taken voice lessons from several very good teachers (between breaks we would experiment with teachers).
Now with Asuka he feels most comfortable and feels he learns more per lesson with Asuka. More progress with all aspects of voice. She helps prepare for auditions with Broadway vocals and advance on the more serious and challenging Opera selections.
So the actual lessons are great and Asuka is also a charm; engaging and personable. As the parent I very much like she remains a professional singer as her career.
So we are staying with Asuka through the breaks and may even extend into piano lessons as well.
I would recommend Asuka without hesitation.

Hi, I’ve taught Japanese since 2002 and I’ve always enjoyed teaching and interacting with students. I have taught American adults and college students for over 5 years now. Teaching Japanese to American military personnel and spouses who were stationed in Japan was the most rewarding experiences I’ve had. They truly needed the language skills to live in Japan, and they really appreciated that they were able to learn survival Japanese that’s instantly useful out in town.

I grew up in Japan and came to US to go to college. Since I was a college student, I taught Japanese to middle and high school students during summer in Japan. I have a Master of Education in TESL. Yes, I used to teach English more vigorously, but I found teaching Japanese more rewarding. I teach all levels including those who are starting out and also want to improve their fluency and understand the culture and history!
I’m looking forward to working with whoever is interested in my language :) Thank you!!

About Ai
I started my teaching career when I was a college student. In Japan, I taught both English and Japanese to middle and high school students at a private academy. I have also taught Japanese to adults especially the spouses stationed in Japan and also at community college. I have the Master of Education in TESL; therefore, I’ve taught English more vigorously, but know what it takes to be successful at second language acquisition. I really find it rewarding to teach those who are interested in Japanese language and culture.

I like to get to know your learning styles and what motivates you. I will cater to your needs and make your own lesson plan just for you.

I love teaching and discovering my own culture through the eyes of the students. I love to meet new people and just love the people who want to learn a foreign language. It gives y
ou an opportunity to widen your view of the world!

I’ve also played the piano since I was 3 years old and have the Yamaha certification; therefore, I teach piano too. I also love to play!!

As a native Japanese speaker, who has spent the last 30 years in the United States, I understand the structural and grammatical differences in the two languages. This gives me both the teacher’s and the student’s perspectives, which I find valuable as a language instructor.

I have taught Japanese to college students and adults, using beginning Japanese textbooks, and I am most comfortable teaching high school/college students and adults.
I can also teach conversational Japanese and/or customize the lesson to meet each student’s particular goals and needs.

Send me a message to find out if we are a good match!

About Rie
Born and raised in Japan, I moved to the United States in the 80's to pursue the goal of obtaining a library degree. Fast forward almost 30 years, I now live in Western New York, working in a local school district.
In the past 30 years, I have worked as a librarian, an English instructor in Japan, and a school administrative assistant. I have also taught Japanese to college students and adults in my free time, and when I become an empty nester this summer, would love to dedicate more time teaching the language and customs of my native country. I can help you with homework, conversational Japanese, and more - just contact me and we can find out if we are a good match!

Hey guys !! Whether you are a lover of Anime, Jpop or need to know Japanese for business or just to show your friends , you have reached the right person !! :) I have 15 years of experience when it comes to the Japanese Language. And I absolutely love it !! I can proudly say that I am proficient in the language. I can speak fluently , understand and write fluently in Furigana (Hiragana and Katakana) I've learned from courses, friends, programs, music, immersion, books etc, you name it I've done it and has had major success. I will teach in a fun and interactive way and we will build up from the fundamentals of words to complete sentences. You WILL be proficient and comfortable in Japanese in no time !

About Anthony
I have 12 years experience in teaching Japanese as a tutor. I also am a Native if English and now added ESL as a subject to teach, so any one interested in the English Language is welcome ! Occupation wise I am a Electrical Engineer Major, Entrepreneur, Author, Motivational Coach and Language Enthusiast. I am a firm believer that we really can do anything we put our minds too. My main focus and purpose is to HELP and add VALUE to as many lives as possible. I am solely interested in the progression and success of the student. It is my duty for me to teach you as much information on the Language in the most comprehensive way possible.

I'm originally from Long Island City, New York. I had a teacher of Japanese descent and she always brought her culture to the classroom. I was 10 years old, and I used to ask her questions about the way she
would dress and her mannerisms and she would tell me anything I wanted to know. The culture is where it began for me, but the language is what took me on a whole different level of mentality and understanding.

I began learning the language at the age of 12 from a Japanese friend. At age 14 I learned from online courses and music, it was so intriguing to me that I began self study. At age 17 is when my listening skills began to kick in. I was understanding not only music but some Anime, this is when it really got fun lol. At age 20, is when I reached advance speaking proficiency and was able to understand LIVE dialoge from Natives. I am now 27. I am excited to teach and speak fluent japanese to you guys so you can hear it in it's native form.

So Anthony why should I choose you to be my teacher?

#1 I am literate in Japanese, I speak proper and perfect English so you will understand me lol.

#2 I will talk to you in a relatable way, so you will not feel like you're in a boring lecture, Japanese is an exciting language, so you do not need to feel like you're preached to.

#3 I will make this fun and interactive, keeping you engaged from beginning to end, wanting to know more. Most importantly I will give you as much information in the time given, so you can leave knowing your money is well spent.

#4 Lastly I can teach you formal and informal Japanese. I will give you all the key components to the Japanese Language without the fluff. In most language instruction there are key things to know mixed with fluff. This is what makes students lose interest or get confused. There will be no fluff in my class, everything that I teach you will be a key component to your language learning success.

So what are you waiting for ? Your success starts here !! Let's do this !! :)

Learn to speak and read Japanese, have fun, and get to speak with a native Japanese speaker who only recently moved to the US.

I was born and raised in Hiroshima prefecture, Japan. I have a long history of teaching English to Japanese students at the Junior and High School levels, and use my skills now to teach English speakers about Japanese language.

About Yae
My family was enthusiastic about international cultures, and so I became an English teacher in Japan. I taught English to Junior High School students in Osaka for more than 10 years. During this time I realized the importance of experiencing other cultures first-hand, so I went to the US and studied Psychology at the SUNY Buffalo, where I obtained a Bachelor Degree in 2003. Afterwards, I returned for more than 10 years to Japan, where I taught English at the Junior High and High School levels in Nagoya, and worked for the establishment of a General Consulate in Nagoya for the nation of Myanmar. About two years ago I returned back to the US, and I hope to share my international experiences and language skills with my students.

I'm a student at UNCC studying Japanese language and culture. I have been studying Japanese for 5 years and I am currently working on my Japanese translation certificate. Japanese is a very difficult language to learn( particularly for native English speakers.) Japanese is something I am very passionate about and I love helping others share that passion with me. I think a Japanese tutor is important for anyone picking up the language, as there are some aspects of it that are hard for English speakers to digest. I think having a Native English speaker teach tremendously helps individuals grasp a better understanding of the fundamentals and ultimately leads to having a more solid foundation to learn upon. My goals are not only to help students learn Japanese, but to also recognize basic linguistic pattern thats will help them understand the relationship between Japanese and English.

About Taylor
I've been learning Japanese for 5 years! It's been a passion of mine ever since I started learning it in high school. From the very first lesson I fell in love with not only the language, but the culture as well. I believe understanding Japanese culture is just as important as grammar when it comes to learning Japanese. Context goes a long way when it comes to understanding the language. Because of this, I've tried to expose myself as much as possible to Japanese culture. I should warn potential language learners, Japanese is a difficult language. That being said, I it is very satisfying and rewarding to learn and utilize. I think anyone is capable of learning Japanese as long as it is something they are passionate about.

I started teaching myself Japanese when I was 11 years old. From there, my high school formally held Japanese courses through the local college. I took those classes and courses for 6 years and I continue my Japanese studies in college. I also spent 3 months Japan's Ehime Prefecture as an exchange student, and another 2 weeks spent in Shizuoka as a Sister City representative from Kelso, Washington. I spend too much time around children of all ages and have been conditioned to have super high patience and tolerance. I hope to offer myself as a resource that I never had when I first started my language journey as well as a friend to all of my students.

About Joy
Hello, my name is Joy. I grew up in Santa Cruz, California and spent 10 years in Kelso, Washington. After suffering in the cold, dark, rainy, cold, and rainy North West, I retreated back to my sunny home town Santa Cruz where I've been happily residing for the last two years. In my free time, I enjoy dancing, yoga, cake decorating, spending time with my family, and studying Japanese. I hope to impact lives and change the world! I believe that everyone has a purpose in life and no one is too insignificant to matter.
