Name: Luke M. Ages Taught: All Ages Education: Upper Canada College (High School Degree in the International Baccalaureate Program) Musician’s Institute (Completed Two Consecutive Summer Programs) Berklee College of Music (Cum Laude - Undergraduate College Degree) Teaching Experience: Steadily held between 6 – 10 students a week since 2011 Currently works for "Musika" Online Lessons Company since 2012 Currently works for "Melody School of Music" since 2012 Teaching Philosophy: Most importantly, the lessons are always based around what YOU want to get out of them. If you need direction, I am more than happy to provide it but it makes me happiest to teach you whatever it is you want to be learning. This will ensure that lessons are always interesting and fun for you. The second most important aspect of my teaching philosophy is “what you get out of lessons is based on what you put into them.” In other words, how effective your growth as a guitarist will be is entirely dependent on you. I will assign you the work on a week-to-week basis and if you study and practice what I give you, you will see progress. I promise. Finally, do not ever get discouraged if an aspect of your playing takes more time to master than you expected. Coming from someone who took lessons for 8 years and then went to Berklee College of Music, you must understand that nothing in the mastering of a craft happens over night and that is true for everyone. Always remain driven and keep practicing and you will achieve your goals. *** Lesson Details *** I am very laid back and am more than happy to give you to direction but I prefer to design a specific lesson plan based around you and your goals, no one student is the same to me. As both a music school educated musician and a professional touring, performing and writing veteran, I believe I can give you the best of both worlds. Topic List: - Important supplies needed to enhance lesson experience - String name memorization/Tuning the guitar - Note identification - Chords (open, bar, triads, 7th, advanced 7th) - Comping (ability to tastefully play chords behind a melody or soloist) - Scales (Pentatonic, Blues, Major, Minor, Altered, Modes) - Technical Abilities (palm muting, bending, trills, hammer ons etc) - POP/Rock/Blues Song Composition - Reading/Writing Music Notation - Slide Guitar Playing - Guitar Gear/Tone Advice - Playing with or "feeding" off of other players in a live, performance setting *** Travel Equipment *** I can provide everything...guitar, cables, amps, music stands, notation paper, tab paper, pencils, tuners, metronomes however it's preferred that they play their own guitar *** Specialties *** Rock, Blues, Funk, Jam, Folk, Acoustic, Country/Bluegrass, Jazz, R n B
