I was 3 years old when I started playing the Violin. As I continued in music, I found myself learning to play the Clarinet, Piano, Organ, and composing. I love anything music: teaching, conducting, or writing. I attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri, receiving my B.A. in Music and a Minor in Music Theory and Composition. I have had the wonderful opportunity to enhance my musicianship through academia and professional experience. As such, I became extremely proficient in musical theory and performance. I have also received a B.S. in Kinesiology and the Physical Sciences, which has helped me to realize how important music is in my life today. Music is more than just notes, and all my life experiences up to this point have certainly affirmed such a statement. I am always learning; always developing my skills. *** Lesson Details *** Well, one of my sayings is Music should be fun!€ And this is certainly true! I like to have fun with my students and I enjoy my students when they are having fun. The excitement that a student has when playing their favorite piece of music, is the same excitement I bring to my lessons. I not only teach my students music proper, but I also teach my students how to be €œfree€ and learn €œuncommon repertoire. I can be laid back at times. I realize that there is a time to focus and a time to play. After awhile, my students will understand how important and prolific music is in their personal life; they will learn to find the joys of music in the world around them. They will not only enjoy the music they listen to, but they will understand it as well. *** Studio Equipment *** Studio room setup for lesson with upright piano. Parking available. Parents can sit in on lessons, and waiting area available. *** Travel Equipment *** The student should provide a suitable learning instrument for their mode of interest. Example: clarinet for clarinet lessons, etc. Student is responsible for lesson books. *** Specialties *** Jazz, Classical, Pop, Rock.

Benjamin is very gifted and has always been a pleasure to work with. I had the opportunity to work with him while he was still at Evangel University. His passion for music and exuberance is infectious. Learning with Benjamin was always a positive experience. In his own music, he pushes himself to excel and to always strive to be better; he instills those same qualities in everyone he comes in contact with. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would without hesitation.

Ben is very professional, respectful and knowledgeable! He always starts the lesson on time and ends on time (which is very important for our busy lives)! He keeps Megan (10 years) interested in playing and is always very encouraging when correcting a mistake! We are so glad we chose him to begin this musical journey with her!
