HELLO SINGERS! I am a passionate voice professional of over 12 years and LOVE helping young singers discover their voices! I specialize in working with kids and teens who are interested in learning the classical foundations of singing and musicianship, while having tons of FUN! (Adults also welcome!) LESSON CONTENT: I follow a well-rounded singing curriculum that includes voice skills as well as musical theory that is critical for young singers: --Physical and vocal warm ups --Exercises targeted to building vocal technique --Ear training --Theory (reading musical notation and how it applies to singing) --Developing a portfolio of performance-ready songs that vary in genre, style and difficulty. --Optional: song writing, acting skills for performance, beginner piano for supporting singing, audition prep, working with accompanist. --Students will need to purchase theory books, exercise books and sheet music (in addition to lesson fees). --In order to figure out their true strengths as a vocalist, students are required to study a broad range of repetoire, including classical, musical theatre, pop, rock, jazz, originally written material, plus other genres of students' interest. BOOKING LESSONS: --I work with students ages 5 and up. 5 year old students must be able to read fully in order to participate in lessons. --I offer 45 or 60 minute voice lessons, even for younger children. I want to see my singers make progress, and we need ample time to do so. The 30 minute option is for piano students only. --If you are interested in piano lessons, I teach 30 minute beginners lessons, and will follow the Bastien method series. --Students may book a 60 minute lesson and spend half on singing and half on piano. --If you are curious about lesson length and logistics, please use the "ask a question" function to discuss with me before booking. WHY VOICE LESSONS FOR KIDS AND TEENS? --Proven to improve math and reading scores in academic testing. --Develops creative and strategic thinking skills --Lays foundation for other instrumental study in the future. --Prepare for auditions, school productions or talent shows --Improve self confidence in front of peers and groups. --Try a new hobby and have fun!
