We will focus very heavily on breathing, breath support, posture, resonance, clarity, pure tone, power and strength without straining, vocal range, and problem solving. Depending on your specific goals and needs, I will design vocal exercises for your particular voice.
My students range from raw beginners to professionals who record albums or perform live regularly. Some of them have even been on Broadway!
About Erin: After completing my Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance at North Park University in Chicago, I moved to NYC in 2010 to pursue my loves of music, acting, and education. During my time in NYC, I worked as a Teaching Artist through Wingspan Arts, acted in short films, and sang in concerts, operas, and musical theater productions around the city. Now, I am back in my hometown of Chicago to continue my work near friends and family! I have been teaching acting, modeling, voice, and piano to children and adults of all ages for the last seven years. My goal is to professionally fuse my passion for music, theater, and education while continuing to learn, grow, and share the beauty and magic of the arts with others.
In my free time I enjoy movies, board games, geeky TV ...
A lot of young students come to me wanting to sing in this style and are trying to "belt." Most of the time, I work with them to develop a more legit style of singing that can be supported and sustained over a longer period of time.
I love to teach! I have been so fortunate to have some incredible teachers who have truly inspired a passion in me and it is my aim to be that to my students. I've taught all ages from 3 - 73 and I believe that everyone has a voice! I strongly encourage my students to learn to read music and I am more than happy to teach them how! Sight-reading, ear training, and a basic understanding of music theory are great ways to enhance your singing by becoming a more well-rounded musician. Lessons should be FUN! I believe in building a strong foundation in healthy technique, regardless of which style of music you prefer. Proper breathing, posture, and placement are all important but these things can all be learned in a creative environment. Whether you are looking for regular, weekly ...
Singing of all kinds begins with healthy vocal technique. Learning the correct warming up and use of the voice and breath is essential for a career in singing with any longevity. I use a combination of classical (bel canto) and contemporary styles of singing to bring out the best in each student's voice. We will work on breathing, range, voice blending, resonation, flexibility, projection and articulation.

I have extensive training in musical theatre and have been in several productions. I am currently getting a M.M. in vocal performance at the Chicago College of Performing Arts and have extensive vocal training.
