I am so excited to join the take lessons team! I have been teaching voice and piano lessons for the last five years, and it has been my full time job for the last two years. I am passionate about making sure every lesson I teach is educational, along with being fun! I hold a Masters of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance with a minor in Dance from Millikin University. At both Millikin and N.I.U. I had the opportunity to play leading roles in the main stage operas, including Gretel (Hansel and Gretel), Carolina (Il Matrimonio Secreto), Countess (Marriage of Figaro), and Ottavia (Coronation of Poppea). I am proficient in German, Italian, and French and familiar with a variety of approaches to vocal technique in order to best fit the needs of each student. I am a graduate of Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, with a B.A. in Music Composition. I have been teaching numerous groups and individuals for over five years on a variety of instruments. I am an avid church musician, and am currently serving as Creative Arts Director at Community Christian Church in Yorkville, IL. I strive to help my students achieve their goals, and I am passionate about teaching a variety of ages.

My name is Daniel. Composition is my major area of expertise and my major instruments are jazz piano and voice. I currently attend Vandercook College of Music due to the fact that it is a specialized school strictly devoted to music educators. Beyond its capacity for being used as entertainment, music aids in learning, helps develop advanced motor skills, increases memory function, and many other purposes for a well rounded education. It is my goal to help educate the next generation in traditional music practices as well as incorporate new techniques that are relevant to our current day and age.

Hello! A little about me: I have an extensive background in both music and theater. I've studied classical voice, piano, and composition, but have a love for an eclectic mix of music. I've performed everything from rock to opera (and everything in between). As a teacher, I've taught in a wide range of settings from private lessons to group/classroom settings working with a wide variety of students from special needs kids to professional adults. Music and the arts has always been important to me, and I love having the opportunity to foster that in others and see the impact it has on all areas of their lives.

Hello one and ALL! I am currently a student at VanderCook College of Music for my degree in Music Education. I have taught lessons and have performed in various ensembles, such as the VanderCook Symphonic Band, VanderCook Collegiate Choir, VanderCook Symphonic Orchestra, VanderCook College Brass Ensemble, and the VanderCook Wind Ensemble. Over my career, I have learned and am capable of playing 17 different instruments, including percussion, bass and acoustic guitar, and singing.

Scott D. was born in Arlington Heights, Illinois in 1967. He expressed a keen interest in music at an early age, and subsequently, began his studies with the clarinet, and percussion while performing in the school band. A short time after that, he decided guitar was going to be his instrument of choice, and began formal studies with blues man, Don Brown. After that, Scott moved on to study with session ace, Gary Blume. By the time we was 18, he began studies for what would be the first of his two degrees, at William Rainey Harper College. There he was mentored in both classical and jazz guitar under well known session player, and composer, Steven Suvada, and later continued with David Sussman, of the Lyric Opera in Chicago.

I have been an active performer in both the operatic and concert repertory. In the past few years, I have been a soloist at Carnegie Hall, the Chicago Theater, in the Toledo Orchestra’s Christmas concert, and at Chicago’s Ravinia Festival. I originated the role of Dari in Lookinglass Theater at Ravinia’s production of SitaRam. Recent opera credits include Dorabella in Così Fan Tutte and Mme Lidoine in Dialogues des Carmélites, as well as Beppe (L'Amico Fritz) in 2005 in Italy. She has also performed scenes from L’Elisir D’Amore (Adina), The Rape of Lucretia (Female Chorus), Der Freischütz (Agathe), Die Fledermaus (Rosalinde), Madama Butterfly (title role), Arabella (title role), Suor Angelica (title role), Don Giovanni (Donna Anna, Donna Elvira), and Medea (Glauce). Daniel, a former faculty member of Columbia College in Chicago, is a studio and live performance singer and musician based in Chicago. His teaching and performing experience spans three decades, and includes expertise in the studies of voice, guitar, piano, bass, drums, and trumpet, along with music theory, arranging, and composing. He is a Lincoln Academy Student Laureate who holds a BA in Music Composition, and has attended graduate courses in education at Roosevelt University and DePaul University in Chicago. He has taught students of all ages at private studios, public school, and college.

Serena is originally from the New York City area and has been acting, singing, dancing, and playing piano since she was young. As a teenager, she attended the prestigious Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan and went on to receive her Bachelor of Fine Arts in Musical Theater from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. While she was there, she realized her love of teaching when she tutored struggling piano and music theory students. Since graduation, Serena has performed throughout the country in various theatrical performances, including a year and a half with the long-running interactive improv show Tony N' Tina's Wedding.

Other notable credits include The Taming of the Shrew, Bat Boy, Les Miserables, Major Barbara, as well as various cabarets at Don't Tell Mama and the Laurie Beechman Theatre. Serena also has performed alongside James Taylor and the Philadelphia Orchestra.
