Great teacher

I had been teaching myself how to play guitar for a few years and felt like I was not making any progress, so I decided to take some lessons. I feel very fortunate that I was able to find Chuck and work with him.

Chuck is a very talented musician and teacher. He communicates and explains musical concepts in a way that's easy to understand. Lessons were challenging, but in a good way, and Chuck is always friendly and supportive. He gave me great recommendations for what to work on in practice and always had listening suggestions that reinforced what we were working on.

I wish that I had started taking lessons with him sooner, because I learned and improved more as a musician and guitarist in 2 months of lessons with Chuck than in the 2-3 years I had been teaching myself how to play. I can't recommend him enough, especially for beginners or someone who needs a little help to take the next step in their musical journey.

About Bil

I am one of those individuals for whom teaching is just something that I have to do. I started giving music lessons sometime in the 80’s and have loved working with all levels of skill and experience. My students say that I am patient, adaptive and encouraging, committed to making music fun. I have a Masters of Music from New England Conservatory in Jazz Piano and am comfortable and fluent in a number of musical styles, including pop, rock, gospel, traditional hymnody, jazz, and R&B. Although I love and study classical music, it is not something I teach at this point. In addition to private lessons and performing, I do music transcription, workshops, and all forms of vocal and instrumental arranging. Having served as a church musician for more than 30 years, I currently co-lead ...

Gifted teacher and musician

His method of teaching is amazing. He makes music accessible and joyful. I feel challenged without being intimidated. This experience is so valuable because of his ability to bring out the musician inside of me and to help me understand why and how to make beautiful sounds.

A born teacher

Bill is a remarkable teacher. After 22 years of not playing I am truly grasping music theory which is opening my ears and hands up to music in a way that I have never experienced. Bill's teaching style is mellow and exciting at the same time, he is clear with the information and can sense when I get it and when I don't. His communication relates so well to tangible examples that I am able to grasp that it is making the learning easy and fun. Bill is quick with praise and kind with corrections.I look forward to seeing him every week.

About Marie-France

I have taught piano and voice most of my adult life. Early on I learned the need to adapt my teaching style to the uniqueness of each student, especially those whose perceptions differ widely from the general populace. I love what I do, helping each student discover and nurture their abilities, no matter what age the student may be. The Holistic Piano method is especially effective with my Autism-spectrum students, a segment of the population I find particularly rewarding to teach. The following is a quote from ex-student Karena Krull, author of "Drama Made Easy", and "Rummy Roots." “Her greatest strength is her ability to find the right direction for each individual. This ability to adapt to the student's needs lends to individual success for student and avoids their ...

She's really good. I am just a beginner and I am making progress thanks to Marie-France. She gives out homework so you can improve and she tailors each lesson to the needs of that student. I would definitely recommend her to anyone interested in pursuing music.

About Anna

I have a passion for training cellists to a high level of musicianship. I have mentored cellists from the first lesson through professional symphony auditions. I generally start beginners and children with the Suzuki Method. While there are many wonderful facets to the method, a main principal is simple: to nurture. We nurture infants to learn how to speak, walk, love- so then why not apply the same with learning music? More information can be found on the Suzuki Association of the Americas website. Background on my cello career: My formation as a cellist started early; from age four on the Suzuki Method. As a Colorado adolescent, I was a finalist for the Young Musician's Foundation and recorded several Colorado Public Radio broadcasts with the Colorado Young Chamber Players. As I ...

George W. Quincy, MA

About George

Music Instruction is the art of helping people demystify music and cultivate the techniques to accurately and beautifully express themselves. It's also showing someone how to strum campfire chords on a guitar and making them laugh in the process. I have over 10 years of teaching experience in a one on one or small group setting and I have had the most success with students above the age of 10 and below the age of 100. Yes, You can learn an instrument. No, You're not too old. Learning to play music is like learning a trade craft, such as masonry. You need hands on experience and practice, and while YouTube and DVD's can be great assets for the self motivated student they are no replacement for real person to person tutalage. Two very big aspects to becoming a good player are technique ...

Christopher S. Jamaica Plain, MA

About Christopher

Welcome! My name is Christopher S. and I am a classical guitarist, song writer, and experienced music teacher. I began learning music when I was nine on the piano however by the time I turned twelve I discovered my passion for the guitar. I began by learning songs and playing in band with some of my school friends. This was the start of my journey into music. I started with blues, rock, and pop music but I quickly moved into more complex genres such as funk and Jazz music. In college I began my studies of the historically endless and huge world of classical music. This is also when I began teaching and taking students of guitar. I studied classical music at Hofstra University and completed my degree at Humboldt State University in Northern California. After earning my degree I began ...
