In 2012, I graduated from Brandeis University with a degree in Music. I graduated Summa Cum Laude with highest honors in music. I also received the Reiner Prize in 2010 and 2011, an award for the best student composition of that year. I'm currently pursuing an M.F.A in Music Composition/Theory at Brandeis, which I will complete in the spring of 2014. Additionally, I've had the chance to study individually with world renowned composers: Melinda Wagner (winner of the 1999 Pulitzer Prize in music), David Rakowski, Eric Chasalow, and Yu-hui Chang. Over the past 5 years, I've had consistent private composition lessons with these 4 teachers. They've filled me with their wisdom, and I want to pass it on to you.

I am a certified high school teacher who enjoys teaching people of all ages to play the guitar and bass. In addition, I have a masters degree in music from Bates College. My educational philosophy is to focus on the goals of individual students and then develop lessons and practice routines to help to achieve these goals. I am most proficient in rock, blues, folk and jazz styles but I have an open mind and I am willing to help you tackle any form of music. I have been playing the guitar since 1995 and the electric bass since 1999, I am very easy to get along with and I am sure that I will be able to help you become a better musician. Hello! I am a professional working drummer with over 20 years of performing and teaching experience. My current band, Eight To The Bar, has been the winner of Best Band Connecticut for the past 5 years straight. We perform internationally in many venues, including festivals, casinos, and concert halls. The repertoire is diverse and challenging, drawing on the traditions of R&B, Swing and Motown.

I graduated Manga Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music and I have been teaching for over 8 years. What drives me is the power of music to lift peoples spirits, allowing them to grow, and have fun.

In my own life, it wasn’t long before I felt the tug of music. I first became involved with piano when I would tag along with my mother to her piano lessons. The teacher gave me a beginners book and a few pointers and that started me on my path.

The real epiphany came at 12 when I met local singer and instructor Sandi Bedrosian-Hyde, who became not only my voice teacher but my friend and mentor. I was fortunate enough to become her personal assistant and was able to teach under her guidance for several years. Sandi was able to show me that with the right teacher a student can go on to accomplish anything.

Robert B., classical guitarist, has been performing and teaching classical guitar since the 1990’s. He earned his teacher’s certificate and performer’s certificate at the “Conservatorium van Maastricht” (Netherlands) and came to Boston, to study with Eliot Fisk at New England Conservatory. Robert has also participated in many masterclasses given by internationally-renowned artists such as Pepe Romero, David Russell, Abel Carlevaro and Alexander Frauchi.

I have been playing music my entire life. When I was seven, I began taking piano lessons. At age ten I began playing trumpet in the marching band. It was on these instruments that I gained my knowledge for basic music theory and structure.
When I was fourteen years old I began playing guitar. I began taking theory classes through the music department in my high school and played in the jazz band for fun. By the time I graduated high school I was an intermediate guitarist with a firm grip on theory, structure, and composition.

While attending Umass Amherst I furthered my musical education by enrolling in a number of classes in the music department while earning a degree in Plant & Soil sciences. Mickey began drumming at age six and has been busy making music ever since. As a young kid she studied concert snare drumming and jazz drumming with Matt Gordy, and later moved on to study rock, funk, and world music with Boston legend Dean Johnston (Superhoney, Club d’Elf). She simultaneously pursued her interest in songwriting by learning to play guitar, piano, and to sing and record songs onto a 4-track tape machine. At the age of 16 she decided to get her GED instead of graduating high school, and subsequently moved to Olympia WA to attend The Evergreen State College at age 17.

While at Evergreen, Mickey studied everything from creative writing, book making/letterpress, farming, and music therapy. Her primary focus was studying the ways in which creative arts can be used as a tool for personal transformation. Through this work her interest in teaching music began to grow, and for the past three years she has been teaching private drum lessons with students of all ages....

So let me tell you a little bit about myself. I've been drumming since the age of 14 when I was a member of the world renowned drum & bugle corps the 27th Lancers from Revere Massachusetts performing in front of audiences of 10,000 and more.

Through the years I've performed on drum set in many styles and genres. I started performing locally as part of the thriving early 80's Boston music scene and most recently I was a founding member of the popular all acoustic Beatles tribute band Glass Onion. In between there have been many projects in many different styles.

I have studied at Berklee College of Music under the tutelage of internationally
known drummer Larry Finn. I'm currently completing the Specialist Certificate in Drums program at Berklee.
