Born in New York City and always surrounded by different music, Michael began studying at a very early age with the piano. Later on, he got serious with the upright and electric bass and got his degree from SUNY Purchase in jazz performance. At SUNY Purchase, Michael studied with some of the best teachers in New York such as Hal Galper, Todd Coolman, and Kermit Driscoll. He has a lot of experience as a performer in New York City as both a leader and a sideman in many different styles of music. His formal background is jazz but he can be seen regularly performing with pop, rock, hip hop, funk, and soul groups.

As a younger brother at the age of five, I began studying the piano because my older sister did. After my foundation in music strengthened I fell in love with the trumpet. At first, each note took time to develop and I enjoyed the challenge. The trumpet allowed me to travel all over the Southeast later in life and even to China with a 1940's Radio Show. I enjoyed many top-level bands the kindled my love and passion for good music. I want to share that kindling with my students in a nurturing and guiding situation, just like my teachers gave me.
I used to go to lessons and become so motivated and inspired that I thought I could change the world. I always knew that I would want to give back exactly that. As my performance opportunities grew into venues like Churchill Grounds, The Eyedrum, The Rialto, and The Variety Playhouse in Atlanta and Radio City Music Hall and Flushing Town Hall in New York, my fire for wanting to develop my teaching did also. I have studied music since I was seven years old, and I have a real passion for sharing music with others. I am a double major in music performance and music education. I teach at Brooklyn College as well as my home studio. Professionally, I have premiered dozens of new works for brass, and I am active on the New York New Music scene. I use my real world experience to hone in on what you need to accomplish your musical goals. I have spent substantial time in New York City Public School music classrooms assisting and teaching with fellow instructors, and my private students have gained awards and admission to regional and state honor groups.

I am currently an active freelancer as a trombonist in the New York, tri-state area where I enjoy a career playing varied genres of music with numerous orchestras, jazz ensembles, classical chamber music groups, and rock, funk and brass bands. I recently returned from a five-month national tour of the musical Cabaret and have performed with various ensembles in prestigious halls around the country such as Carnegie Hall, and the Walt Disney Concert Hall in LA.

I fell in love with music at the age of five when I began taking piano lessons. In fourth grade I learned to play trombone, but was too small at the time and had to switch to the Euphonium. My interest in the trombone continued to persist, so in sixth grade I resumed trombone lessons. Every since then I have been pursing both trombone and euphonium.

In 2002 I was accepted too the University of Michigan as a double major in trombone and euphonium performance where I studied with David Jackson and Fritz Kaenzig....

I've been playing and loving music for well more than half a century, now. I got started in second grade when my grandpa brought home a little violin one day, and I've been at it ever since. I was fortunate to take lessons for more than ten years with Carita Page, a teacher who was very warm, encouraging, and caring. I do my best to pass that on to my students in addition to the technique of playing and the theory of music, fascinating as those are.

I feel that playing in groups is very valuable experience for students and gives you a side of music that private lessons alone cannot. I encourage students to look for opportunities to do that. To help provide those opportunities I organized the Cranbury Scout Band, one of very few continuously-operating Scout bands in the country, which I have directed for more that ten years now. I've also been on the staff of several Jamboree Scout bands.

Hello! I am a professional music educator in the Philadelphia, PA area. I graduated magna cum laude from Mansfield University, with a bachelor's degree in Music Education and hold a master's degree in Flute Performance from the University of Connecticut. I have taught all ages of students, from pre-K to adult, a wide variety of instruments. I am a member of MENC (The National Association for Music Education) and Sigma Alpha Iota (Professional International Music Fraternity for Women). In addition to music, I love animals. Currently we have 2 cats, a turtle, and a red iguana that all put up with my practicing and lessons quite well (or they just hide under the bed).
