I can help you

"I can help you" were words like music to my ears. Stephen quickly found areas of my vocalization that I could change to make instant improvements. He's been great in getting my confidence up and making singing enjoyable.
Rachel C. New York, NY

About Rachel

There are lots of reasons people take singing lessons...a dream of performing for crowds, wanting to melt faces at karaoke, not being embarrassed when singing in the shower... But the common goal is finding your voice and creating a sound you love. My studio is designed to create a space where that process is comfortable and fun! Lessons will start wherever you’re at and go at your own pace towards your specific goals.

I was trained at the School of Creative Arts in Sydney, Australia and specialize in pop, rock and indie rock vocal technique. I work with a lot of beginners as well as people in bands and songwriters.

I'm from an extremely musical family and have always loved singing. (I almost pushed my parents over the edge as a kid because I would hum CONSTANTLY...) I ...

Excellent!

Two months of lessons have proven very productive. I have seen great improvement in my daugher's abilities and confidence. Barbee is mild in her ways yet tenacious; always pushing to the next level. I like that I am able to sit through the lesson. The classes run on schedule. Barbee is responsive to calls/texts and is flexible with schedule changes.

Dr. Daniel C. New York, NY

About Dr. Daniel

Dr. Collins was most recently described by Tim Page with the Washington Post as a “funny, exuberant and enormously likable” Papageno during Summer Opera Theater’s performance of The Magic Flute. Previously, the Post critiqued Daniel in Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia’s Barber of Seville as a “bright and bouncy” Figaro who delivered his lines with “aplomb.” Daniel has performed as a young artist in the Studio Programs of El Paso Opera, Kentucky Opera and Portland Opera. He has sung the roles of Sharpless in Madama Butterfly, Sid in Albert Herring, Figaro in The Marriage of Figaro, Belcore in L’elisir d’amore, Jupiter in Orphée aux enfers, Dr. Falke in Die Fledermaus, Bottom in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Masetto in ...

Dan is a very gifted teacher, and a wonderful person. He is intelligent, super punctual, and has a flair for explaining the most intricate details of music and voicing in a way that a 5 year old can easily understand.

He encourages you to sing in the proper way, and break out of bad habits at an early stage. If you are looking for an awesome music teacher, look no further!!

Dan is extremely knowledgeable, patient, focused and funny! A singer my whole life, but mostly untrained, Dan helped me to get back to my passion by asking good questions upfront about my goals and using lessons to strengthen / expand MY voice (rather than shaping it into something else). Unlike any other coach I've seen, Dan actually keeps track of my progress by taking notes and actively revisiting them. He's great and I'm looking forward to continuing our work.

Daniel is a wonderful instructor. I had not sung opera for over 10 years, and felt very unsure about trying it again. In just 8 weeks of lessons with Daniel, my voice has gotten stronger and richer through his guidance. As an instructor, he is very patient and understanding, while still pushing to get the best possible sound. When describing vocal techniques, he can explain them in many different ways in case it’s not clear on the first try. Daniel has also always been a reliable communicator and is flexible with his schedule.
I have left every lesson with Daniel feeling more confident and I am always looking forward to the next one!

An advanced beginner's review

Zhana combines very well the two elements that are essential for a good teacher in any field: strictness and high expectations on the one hand coupled with kindness and encouragement on the other. I have only had six weeks of lessons with her so far, but I have already learned a lot and can compare her favorably with other instructors.
