Bass Guitar, Guitar, Piano, Classical Guitar, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting
I received a Bachelor’s of Music with a concentration in Jazz Guitar Performance from Temple University in 2008. Although my focus was on Jazz, I also play and teach many other styles of music including Rock, Blues, Folk, Classical and Funk. Aside from teaching lessons and performing with various projects along the east coast, I also compose music for films and produce/record other musicians and bands.
Because of my background as a performer, composer, producer and educator, I feel that I have unique qualifications to give the student a well-rounded understanding of not just the guitar, but of music as a whole. By including a balanced mix of technique, performance, composition and theory, I hope to help students reach their full creative potential and to see music as not only a performance art, but as a mode of individual expression.

I started my musical education in a children’s choir at age 6.
When I turned 8 years old, I began piano lessons. I started violin
at 9 and trombone at 10. I am now proficient on the guitar, bass, and piano. Having completed my tour of duty in the U.S. Army, I am currently on the Dean’s list as a music/audio production major, and plan to continue my music education until I earn at least a masters in performance and composition. I currently also teach at Milestones in Music.. a local studio. I am a member of the Grammy U Recording Academy, and have had opportunities to work with a lot of different musicians. (The Recording Academy is the organization that created the most prestigious
award in music, the Grammy). I am the band leader at my church Montco Bible Fellowship, and the lead audio tech for and audio/video group.. Sanctuary Sound, and also do consultant work for organizations looking to setup a sound system/studio. I enjoy recording my own music in my home studio, and learning to play new instruments. I hope to pass my love for music to the next generation!

I have a BA in music from Manhattanville College and a wide variety of performance experience ranging from off-broadway musicals to orchestral and chamber music to improvising and creating music for fashion shows and to playing and recording in progressive rock, indie and metal bands. My musical studies have covered classical, blues, jazz, rock, metal, traditional folk, musical theatre, and film music. Additionally, I have experience as a songwriter and composer and am currently recording my first solo album of original music on the cello.
As a teacher, I draw from all of the great music I've studied and all of the great musicians and instructors I've had the privilege to observe. I combine "outside-the-box" thinking with a focus on practicality and usefulness. I am an active performer, and constantly learning and improving myself, while finding new ways to share with my students.

Exciting, entertaining and energetic, Philip’s ability speaks for itself. He was formally trained at the tender age of 13 on the trombone at La Salle College High School. With the performance ability sharpened by his diverse professional experiences, Philip D. is a renaissance man in his own right. He has worked with such notable artists and groups such as; Peter Nero & The Philly Pops, Slide Hampton, Robin Eubanks, Freda Payne, Martha Reeves of the Vandellas, The Intruders, The Blue Notes, The Delfonics, The Stylistics, The Contours, as well as The Temptations. Philip enjoys working with others, he wants his students to discover their musical ability and get in touch with their creative talents. His musical influences, aside from the groups he has worked with include Michael McDonald, Earth Wind and Fire, Journey, Queen, Take 6, Stevie Wonder, Joshua Redman, John Coltrane, and the list goes on. By taking lessons with Philip you will have a diverse variety of styles and methods to improve your craft.

I am 35 years old, and have been a musician for over 25 years. I began, like many, playing in my middle school band. I attended a Performing Arts School throughout my high school years, where I studied Classical and Jazz Guitar, Music Theory, Ear Training, and many other facets of music. I also studied privately with various guitar instructors, most notable Kyle Hildenbrand, a Berklee grad and film scorer for Universal Studios. In college I also took education and psychology classes which have proven very helpful in my approach to teaching.
I have performed in many ensembles and bands, playing both cover songs and writing original music. Blues, country, hard-rock, and even a jazz quartet. Currently I write for and perform in a folk - rock trio.
Playing in so many different circumstances, has been very beneficial working as a teacher. My students are all very different, not only in the way that they learn but also in the style of music they wish to play. I take pride in being able to adapt to each student, teaching them with the most appropriate method.
