My name is Jason. I began playing guitar when I was 10 years old, and have been practicing intensely ever since. The hardest part was getting started. As a young child I was interested in the guitar; however, my parents were hesitant to buy one for me, because they were convinced that learning an instrument took patience, dedication, and a strong work ethic. After 5 years of begging I received my first guitar as a gift one glorious Christmas morning, but I had no idea what to do with the thing!

I enrolled in lessons, which provided a great starting point. I'm a classically trained pianist. I graduated from West Chester University with my Bachelor's Degree in Piano Performance in 1985. I then went on to Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. where I earned my Masters degree in Piano Performance in 1987. Beginning in 1987 I taught at the Settlement Music Schools in Philadelphia. I remained there for 16 years working with virtually every level of student from beginner to advanced. From 2004 to the present I have been teaching in my own home studio in West Chester, Pa.

I began violin playing jazz/folk music with my dad and performing at different venues with him. I was always attracted to the variety of scales and sounds eastern music had to offer. I love the sound of a gypsy violin, how it can create such a strong sorrowful sound or how it can dance and sing.

I found the gypsy inspired pieces composed by classical composers like Monti's Csaras. This was my connection into classical music. I found a teacher who played classical and arabic violin and began studying intensely for technique. As I got deeper into the study of classical I realized how much I love classical music.

I have been playing the violin since I was eight years old, and singing since I was nine. Beginning only as a hobby, I quickly became bored with my steady diet of classical music. I am 35 years old, and have been a musician for over 25 years. I began, like many, playing in my middle school band. I attended a Performing Arts School throughout my high school years, where I studied Classical and Jazz Guitar, Music Theory, Ear Training, and many other facets of music. I also studied privately with various guitar instructors, most notable Kyle Hildenbrand, a Berklee grad and film scorer for Universal Studios. At the age of 4 I began producing musicals in my basement with my sister. This progressed to acting classes, piano lessons, and eventually the school musical in sixth grade. I began taking voice lessons when I was in eighth grade and have never looked back. Through high school, I focused on both classical and musical theatre genres, having leads in high school and community musicals and operettas. While attending the University of Delaware, I majored in Applied Music: Voice and had the privilege of performing lead roles in Sweeney Todd, The Pirates of Penzance, The Marriage of Figaro, and Die Fledermaus. My passion and love for music began the day I learned to speak. I've studied the piano since age 6, as well as voice.
