From powerless to power-girl, I became a transformational singer/songwriter, coach, award winning speaker, workshop host and author of the book, Change the World - Write Your Song!  My passion for songwriting began in 1982 after a transformational experience seeing the band The Who in concert.  In 2001, I  had achieved two degrees in music an AA and BA. Songwriting became more than trying to fit my unique songs into the mainstream music scene but to share my transformational songwriting techniques to other songwriters. Empowering them, their audiences and ultimately the world.

I have been teaching in public schools for more than 15 years and have played for award winning bands. With me you will sound great on the guitar in a short period of time even if you are a beginner. You will learn everything from simple chords and strumming to screaming leads.

Over the course of my musical career, I have had the opportunity to learn from many musicians. From University Professors to Street Corner Musicians, I have gathered much knowledge on how to play music. Applying that knowledge to my guitar playing has opened up many doors of opportunity and has made my life very interesting. One of my talents is to take complicated ideas and convey them in easy to understand ideas for my students. I now wish to share all my knowledge and experiences with you to enjoy a life of music.
Students of mine have been able to create their own music to record and perform. Ensembles that I have directed have performed at many local venues. I have also invited students to join me at my performances to help them become more confident in their playing.

I have over 7 years of experience playing in groups with trombone and also have played in many projects as a guitarist. I offer a fun, interactive teaching style that encompasses more than 20 years of performing and 15 years of teaching experience. As a performer I have worked as a professional singer, actor, musician, and dancer. I have always had a passion for teaching, directing, and composing. While my love for performing has lessened over the years, I have found my true calling: teaching, directing, and helping others to find their passion for music and the performing arts.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies with a special emphasis in music, theatre, dance, and psychology. I am a graduate candidate working on completing my thesis as my final requirement for a Masters of Arts degree in Music at San Diego State University.

I am 26 years old and moved out to California about 2 years ago from Wisconsin. I have been playing music mainly the guitar since I was 15 and fell in love with it ever since. I have been teaching students about music and how to play the guitar since I was 20 and have had great success in seeing many of my pupils still playing in bands today. I love to play all types of music from Rock and Roll to the Blues to Folk and also Modern Pop songs of today. I teach many styles like finger-picking, strumming, hammer strumming etc. I am laid back and love to see my student's success as they learn a craft that is so important to me.

Zo is an ambitious musician from San Diego. Since he was a young child, he always had a fascination with music. After picking up his first guitar, he realized that he wanted to take his passion in music to the next level and absorb as much music as possible. He formed a rock band with two of his close friends and finally got the experience of what it was like to play in a band. This caused him to make the decision to study music while going to college since he truly wanted to do something he enjoyed. So, he enrolled in the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music of California State University Long Beach where he majored in a Jazz Performance Guitar degree. Through his experience here, he met many musicians to learn from and play with. I believe that music is rooted in all human beings and cultures in a reach and vast variety of forms. Music unifies and engages thinking and feeling in a direct and immediate way. Music influences individuals simultaneously on different levels of consciousness and form an important device for learning, recreation, arranging of conscious and unconscious impressions and at the same time for characterizing and conveying ideas and thoughts. This as a point of departure characterizes my teaching philosophy, which strives to create a climate in which my students can experience continuous musical, intellectual, and emotional growth.
As a music instructor and musicologist I demonstrate the characteristics of professional and passionate for everything related to my teaching. I am passionate; for I know the more I teach the more I learn.

Samara is very excited to be a violin, piano and voice teacher with TakeLessons.com!! A life-long musician, Samara started training with the Suzuki method at the age of five, and is currently a music major
with an emphasis in composition at the University of California, San Diego. In an effort to introduce even infants and toddlers to the joys of music, Samara also became a certified Music Together instructor for parent-child music and movement courses. In addition to her violin and piano expertise, Samara has sung and performed in numerous choirs throughout Southern California over the years, including The Southern California Children’s Choir, Saddleback College’s Women’s Camerata and Modern Masterworks Choral, and UCSD’s Concert Choir and Gospel Choir.

I have been making music for over 15 years. I have a diverse background. I started out sampling, and sequencing all types of music back in the 90's. I made dance music, hiphop, RnB, rock, etc. I was more of a producer than performer then. Then I decided to go to school and get a degree in music. I went to Cal State San Marcos and obtained my bachelors in music. I developed into a fingerstyle guitarist while I was there. I also learned how to play the piano while I was there. But I concentrated on the acoustic guitar.

I have been studying the guitar and bass for the last 30 years. While I studied music in college, I began to teach the guitar. After I completed my associates degree at Fullerton college in southern California, I went on to study and get my B.A. degree from Eugene Lang College, The New School for Social Research in New York City. I have always performed with music groups and ensembles - right now I play in flamenco duet, Two jazz groups and a blues band. I love to teach music and enjoy passing on the craft to those who enjoy music as well.
