Keith is not only incredibly knowledgeable about drumming and music in general, but he is also fun. He has a great sense of humor, so if you're a beginner like I am, you will immediately feel at ease the second you walk in the door of his studio. He also has some really good stories from the days he spent on the road as a successful professional drummer. I highly recommend him to anyone--beginners, experts, and everyone in between.

Keith is the best! I came in as a beginner and Keith makes everything really easy to follow and understand. With over 40 years of experience, it's clear that Keith really knows what he's talking about. Even as a Grammy-winner, with experience with people like Bob Seger and friends like Eddie and Alex Van Halen, he's still such a down-to-earth guy. I look forward to every one of our lessons! Not only am I learning the dynamics of drumming and starting with techniques that I'll be able to build on forever, but I also learn about the music industry every lesson. His lessons go well beyond just drumming and you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone else in the area who has his kind of experience and skills. Keith goes above and beyond, as an instructor. His love of drumming is infectious and I can't even believe I was able to get lessons with someone of his caliber. Musicians like Keith are usually in LA and NY, we are SO lucky to have him here. Look no further, Keith is your guy. If he has any availability! ;)

Excellent drum teacher

I've been playing drums for almost 20 years - bands, tours and recording. I came to Keith to build speed, control and finesse and finally master some of the trickier hybrid rudiments. Keith developed an excellent program with achievable goals week to week and practical ways to apply new skills across the kit. Moving up a level seemed easy in the end - the sign of a quality teacher. Keith also identified and helped me to correct a technique flaw that was holding me back. I recommend Keith to drummers of all experience levels. Maybe one day he'll let me hit that signed, vintage ludwig BB snare too.

I just love working with Josh. He knows his stuff and at the same time is fun to work with. He knows technique and anatomy, so he's able to describe all the details of what your air, tongue, palate, etc. should be doing. I never knew how much was involved in singing!
Plus he's always striving to find new and innovative ways to teach. He is not just an excellent singer who assumes he can pass it on, he really cares about the best way to help you improve.
Another thing I really appreciate is that Josh holds you to high standard. He insists on quality, but that means when he says you got it right, you know you really nailed it! Through it all his vibrant and warm personality shines through.

A week after my first lesson with Joshua, people in the congregation of my church where I sang, expressed their amazement at the progress I had made. Two years later, I can reach high octaves, sing with confidence and do things with my voice I never dreamed I would be capable of doing. I am older than most of Joshua’s students and have a different background from them (in non-Western music). Yet one of his greatest gifts Joshua has is his sensitivity, creativity and ability to understand and truly connect with people. Instead of a rigid, "one-size-fits-all” method, he creates flexible and unique approaches that fit the personality and learning style of each individual student. At the same time, the depth and rigor of his approach are unparalleled. What has been a source of excitement and progress for me is his patience and the seriousness of his approach. He treats me—not as someone who never took herself seriously as a singer—but as if I were an accomplished opera singer with global reputation. He lingers on phrases or words to correct enunciation; bring out nuances of interpretation or explain the relationship between physical and musical elements in a sound and work patiently with me until I can do it right. Originally I thought I would take a few basic singing lessons for 3-6 months but I have been getting so much out of studying with Joshua that it has been over two years now and I can’t even foresee an end. Every single lesson is a discovery of a new level of clarity and singing ability and every single week represents progress over the previous week.
Megan A. Fairfax, VA

About Megan

I grew up on Long Island New York and am currently studying music education at George Mason University. I have been playing flute for 12 years now and it's time I share my experience and love for music with others!

To me, music is an outlet and it's important that my students fall in love with music while also learning about it.

A typical lesson with me will be structured like this:
Emphasis on basics (scales, studies, tuning, etc)
Sight Reading and Ear Training
Learning techniques through pieces

I had a lot of bad habits that developed over years I didn't have proper teachers, it will always be my goal to make sure this isn't the case with my students. Playing music should be fun, never too hard or painful. I will put ...

Megan has been a colleague and musical partner of mine for over 7 years. Megan has a unique ability to positively connect with her students at all age and skill levels.

As a truly talented Flautist, Megan will provide you with a wealth of knowledge and expertise on playing flute. I've had the pleasure of performing as well as teaching with Megan and she is a valuable asset to any Music program.

If you're looking for a private teacher who will teach you the fundamentals of music, while also making lessons fun and enjoyable, then Megan is certainly the right instructor for you.

Layla has truly been a helpful tutor. I tend to struggle in classroom environments where the teacher can't always attend to my needs with so many students, so I decided to get a tutor. Layla has experience in teaching and so I decided to give her a try. Her methods are effective and have helped my improve already in such little time. She is not only helpful during our tutoring sessions, but also maintains dialogue in-between sessions, which is also very helpful. I would strongly recommend her as a tutor. She's amazing!
