Hello, my name is Cindy and I am a vocal and instrumental instructor. I received my BA and MAT degrees from Pepperdine University. I have taught privately for over 25 years in the San Fernando Valley, along with Pasadena and Simi Valley areas. During college I performed in several operas including The Magic Flute and Hansel and Gretel with the Burbank Symphony Orchestra. After college, I was a member of Musical Americans, a select touring group from Southern California under the direction of K. Gene Simmonds that toured South America and Japan. I also served as a minister of music at a local church for several years.
I began playing the piano at the age of 7. My mother and sister were taking lessons and, when they had finished practicing I would go into the piano and play what ...
My teaching style is a very traditional. To the beginning student I stress the importance of proper technique, perfect sound production, reading skill, and classical interpretation.
Once a rudimentary instrumental skill is achieved we then can start exploring the work of America's great Jazz masters and tackle the skills necessary to play wonderful and exciting Jazz improvisations!
I also will be teaching music theory, ear training, and song analysis along the way!
Hello and welcome to my profile. I am a professional Los Angeles area saxophonist with two degrees under my belt and 10+ years of performing experience.
In my early formation I studied classical saxophone technique with the great Karen Wiley in Houston Texas. I also attended the legendary High School for Performing and Visual Arts in Houston.
I then achieved a full scholarship to Berklee College of Music in Boston and earned my BFA studying with some of todays most accomplished Jazz educators and performers. These names include Hal Crook, David Baker, Danilo Perez, George Garzone, among others.
I then moved to Los Angeles to pursue my masters at CalArts and studied with several world music masters as well as world class composers and Jazz faculty.
I have been ...
My name is Ray - I'm 26 years old, born in Queens NY. I studied classical music for many years as a youngster at Aaron Copeland School of Music college preparatory program. Here I was also introduced to Jazz, and around the same time began experimenting with synthesizers. I went on to study Electronic Production & Design at Berklee College of Music in Boston, and quickly became a very sought after studio musician and performer.
I've been successfully teaching many instruments and proficiency levels for over 12 years now. I can say with pride that it is my passion, and I anticipate teaching being a very important part of the rest of my life.
I enjoy reading science, math, and philosophy, and in addition to teaching am currently working as a pop music ...
I have played clarinet for over 30 years and can help a young student progress with his/her work/band.
Patience, intelligence, an easy-going nature and a sense of humor are probably my strongest selling points as a tutor. I graduated cum laude from CSULB in 1991 and have worked a number of jobs since then, all the while pursuing my passion for music. I've played clarinet, guitar, sax, keyboards and other instruments and toured in Europe and the U.S. in different kinds of bands. I've recorded and played on several albums, and many songs I've written or co-written have appeared in movies and TV shows.
And, finally, my college degree was a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a Math concentration, so I certainly know my way around a math book! One thing I think I'm good at is helping a student understanding something by explaining it in different ways. It's pretty ...
