I grew up in the metro-Detroit suburb of Farmington Hills. After High School, I attended the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music. While attending CCM, I was chosen as the 2007 Sisters and Jazz Drummer for IAJE. With this band I toured NYC, Washington DC, and Costa Rica. I finished my Masters degree from the California Institute of the Arts in 2010. I currently maintain an active performance calendar around LA.
I’ve been teaching private drum lessons and group percussion/ jazz classes for over six years. My teaching and playing experience ranges from marching percussion to classical percussion to all styles of drum set. I’ve had many students place in their high school drum lines or jazz bands and be accepted to all-state band/orchestra/jazz bands. I’ve even had a few students go on to major in music in college. My name is Mike and I originally hail from Sydney, Australia where I began playing music at a very young age. Growing up I was surrounded by a wealth of musicianship and left-wing instrumentation, which ended up playing a key role in my development as a drummer.

Gary has played a wide variety of gigs over the course of the last 10 years, including everything from Big Band Jazz to Heavy Metal bands. After getting his first drumset, he played along with the stereo to groups like Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Phil Collins. His musical pursuits continued by enrolling at New Jersey City University,where he studied classical percussion and Jazz. Besides playing with various bands in the New York tristate area, Gary's first professional gig was touring full time as percussionist for the National Tour of the production "The Full Monty." He has also been active as an Educator in the New York Tristate area. Now living in Los Angeles, he has performed at world famous venues such as the Whiskey a Go Go, House of Blues, and the Viper Room, and has done sessions at the famous 4th Street Recording Studios in Los Angeles. He is available for live gigs, touring and recording sessions.

Matt G. is a professional percussionist/drummer who has vast experience from all genres of the music industry. He has a bachelor’s degree from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, where he studied with timpanist/percussionist legend, Vic Firth. He also studied with Jaki Byard, George Russell and later with music guru, Charlie Banacos and Alan Dawson, renowned drummer/educator.

After graduation from NEC, he won the principal timpanist position for the Maracaibo Symphony Orchestra in Maracaibo, Venezuela. He remained in Venezuela for almost 9 years playing and teaching what was then the beginning of El Sistema. One of his former students is presently the principal timpanist of the orchestra and a couple of his other former students play in the percussion section. It was here that he became fluent in Spanish.

I began playing music at the age of 12. Following in my father's and brother's footsteps, I first began playing guitar. After plucking around a little I found that something wasn't right. I wanted more interaction with my hands and feet to play the music. I was always banging on tables, buckets and trash cans, all of which thrilled me more than playing guitar. After constantly begging my parents for a drum set, they finally gave in and bought me my first drum-set for his 13th birthday. Soon after, I started playing drums everyday to my favorite records and songs. When I went to high school, I joined my school's drum-line and marching band. It was during this time that I began to heavily focus on my rudimental training. Also, during high school I played drums for four years in a grunge rock band with several of my friends.

I was inspired by drums early on in my life. My intro was playing along to the stereo hitting the floor with a unmatched pair of sticks. At age 12 I received a drumset and was able emulate some rock drumming style pretty fast. My learning hit a plateau soon after tho. My discipline for drum books and practice was very poor in the beginning.
Attending Musicians Institute in 1987 was the starting point of my commitment to myself to improve and be the best player i can be. I Graduated from MI with Honors and started playing with bands and continued to practice many hours a day. By 1994 I was teaching 30 -60 students a week. I have maintained that schedule for 15 years.

I have been a student of the drums myself for 17 years. I started like many musicians have, learning to play a musical instrument in the school orchestra. I picked up some drum sticks and haven't put them down since. My favorite styles of music are funk and rock. I have studied orchestral drumming, drumset, and music theory for 2 years at the university level. I love to teach and finding ways of making drumming easy to understand. I currently play with 2 bands and record whenever an opportunity arises.

I attained a degree in education from Truman State Universtiy in order to have something to fall back on. Through touring the world and recording with a variety of artists I discovered that teaching was something that I was much more passionate about than even I could have guessed. I've been lucky to study with amazing instructors at North Texas State University and Berklee College of Music. These teachers taught me that it's improtant to see each student as an individual and to approach their learning process as unique. The 20 plus years of teaching I've done has shown me that the joy I feel being onstage playing is equal to that experienced by my students when they realize that they can achieve their goals as well.

I am a professional drummer/drum instructor who moved to LA from Nebraska to follow my dreams in music. I went to the University of Nebraska for Music Education. I also studied privately under world renown drummers, such as Dana Murray, Roy McCurdy, and Russ Miller. Through these excellent teachers, I was motivated to practice hard in order to accomplish my goals. I also developed great teaching skills and learned how to successfully motivate my own students. I have performed with many great players such as Buddy Guy, Nicholas Payton, Mato Nanji, Darryl White, and many more.
