About Ariel

Hi! My name is Ariel. Thank you so much for looking at my profile. Here is some information about my educational background, performance career, and how I believe I benefit students.

I was heralded as an “impressive young…discovery” by the Los Angeles Times in 2010 when I made my operatic debut with Long Beach Opera as Nancy T’ang in Adam’s Nixon in China. I have performed roles such as Donna Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Micaela in Bizet’s Carmen, First Woman in Cherubini’s Medea, Second Lady in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, and Giovanna in Verdi’s Rigoletto. I have been a soloist with the Blackbird Music Project, and I regularly collaborate with composers in the Southern California area. I was a fourth place ...

Singing is the most joyous expression of music and everyone should be comfortable doing it. And, everyone CAN do it!

About Jonathan

Piano, singing, and songwriting began for me when I discovered really awesome piano music such as with bands like Queen, Yes, and ELP. After high school, I studied classical music composition at Wheaton College's Conservatory of Music receiving my Bachelors in Music Composition with a focus in piano. My professional experience includes singing on film/TV productions such as High School Musical, Hairspray, and Struck By Lightning. I compose and orchestrate for theater (Glendale Center Theater, Vanguard University Theater Department), film/TV, orchestra (L.A. Jewish Symphony, TCOTW, BIOLA University) and album projects (Anna Nalick, Oodle's World Productions).

Singing credits include High School Musical 1, Hairspray The Movie, High School Musical 3, Chris Kolfer's new ...

Great

Jonathan is super patient and kind. But also gives good feedback that has helped me improve. Along with vocal warm ups and singing songs we work on ear training and sight reading. His approach is gentle and non judgmental. Great teacher for both kids and kids at heart. I am truly pleased and would highly recommend him.

Great teacher and excellent musician!

Jonathan has taught both of my daughters piano, and one of them voice. He is an accomplished musician who knows well both music theory and the joy of creating it. He is reliable, punctual, and encouraging. My girls have fun AND learn a lot!
Jessie M. Pasadena, CA

I begin each voice lesson with a warm-up to prepare the student for their session. Next, we do a series of exercises specially designed to help each individual develop their skill in a way that best fits them. We then work on a piece of their choice for the remainder of the lesson, perfecting their technique and helping them become performance ready. I teach with patience and fun because I feel that this is the key to achieving goals and inspiring a good habit of practice.

If you do not already have a song or sheet music to bring in I can help you choose one during your first lesson. I also require that my students keep a practice journal to record their daily practice sessions. If possible, please bring a recording device of some sort so you can record your lessons. It is a HUGE help to be able to listen back on your lessons and to use them in your daily practice! No experience is necessary, that is what I'm here for!

About Jessie

I fully enjoy teaching music and theater to others and spreading the art of performance, reaching out to all generations. I believe in customizing every lesson to be unique for my students in a way that will serve their individual needs. I teach with patience and encouragement and believe that students prosper and improve much more from a positive experience. My lessons are intended to be fun and influential in a positive light that can lead to a rewarding career, hobby, or just for personal enjoyment!

Every since I was a little girl, I have been devoted to the arts. When I began college, I knew that music was my path. As a music major I developed a deeper understanding of music theory, piano, voice, and theater. I received my A.A. in Music at College of the Desert and my Bachelor of ...

Anthony S. Los Angeles, CA

My approach to singing is one which starts with the body and active listening. I encourage self exploration and strive to break down fears that people have of the way they sound. I always work on music that is driven by the student, and always make the lessons fun and constructive.

About Anthony

I started playing music at age 9, when my mom decided to put me in piano lessons. Much to her surprise, I fell in love with the instrument and played non-stop, sometimes skipping dinner to read through a new piece or practice for an up coming competition. After winning a few state wide competitions, I enrolled in an arts high school to practice my craft, and be around other creative high school students.

While in High School, I started writing music and singing in a 16 member chamber choir. The summer before my senior year, I won the prestigious Berklee songwriting competition and was awarded a scholarship to the school, which I decided to decline to make my way towards the music mecca of Los Angeles.

I received a Bachelor's degree from CalArts where I focused on contemporary ...

Awesome Anthony

I've been taking singing classes with Anthony for over half a year now, singing musical theatre. He has been very accommodating with my busy schedule. Anthony is awesome, not only in his teaching style, but his genuine interest in teaching. He is also an amazing singer!

I have classes with him once a week, and I look forward to every class. He's very positive and nurturing. I came in with zero experience, and was very shy about my voice. He has helped bring my confidence level up. Though my singing ability is still shaky, I feel myself improving, and I'm now willing to belt out my favorite songs in a car with my friends.

knowledgeable, dynamic, passionate, great musicianship, articulate, carrying, flexible, reliable

Anthony has been teaching our two teenage kids for the past 6 months. They are intermediate level and have both found in Anthony a great balance. He is capable to go from classical, emphasizing on techniques and theory, to Jazz and expose them to the intricacy of chords, to pop and sing with them. He is giving them his full array of knowledge in the most gentle, encouraging yet challenging way. And instills in them the notion of phrasing and composition by guiding them to think musically. He is wonderful with them.
Michelle A. Sherman Oaks, CA

My experience with Stephanie has been exceptionally awesome and inspiring over the last year. She is sensitive, super positive, and full of light and energy when it comes to guidance. I have never felt so confident as a singer, and though I still have a little bit to go before Broadway, I highly recommend her to anyone interested in rapidly developing or fine tuning their singing voice. She is also exceptionally talented as a singer herself and truly tailors sessions to really benefit your particular goals and vision for where you want to bloom as a singer.
