*** Lesson Details ***
I am not a "task master," and if a student chooses to dedicate themselves, the sky is the limit. For me, MUSIC = LIFE. Within six months, if a student practices, he or she can expect to be performing in a recital that includes a full-blown sound system, back-up band and fairly large outdoor concert area (with many guests, great food & lifetime memories. I have been having these "events" (twice yearly) for the past six years in Las Vegas & in addition to relatives and friends of the music students, there are many of my friends and neighbors who attend these outdoor concerts. The atmosphere is very professional and each student is given a good opportunity to showcase their talent. Plus, I always include group (i.e. "bands") of students, backed by my professional group.

In addition to reading skills, I stress improvisation, theory and composition, and design a specific "method" for each student. I use "Finale" for transcription of songs, arranging them to suit each student's particular skill level(s). I encourage lyric writing and singing, plus teach fundamentals of recording & sequencing.

*** Studio Equipment ***
Guitars, Basses, 2 Keyboards, multiple computers and recording devices, microphones, and all the accessories. I provide 256-track sequencing and 160 track professional recording setups, plus amps & speakers & sound system.

*** Travel Equipment ***
Arrangements, diagrams, folder, syllabus, teaching materials. Students need instruments and open minds....a pencil (#2) and staff notebook is handy. I provide staff paper & printed music, unless a student brings a particular piece of music on which to work. FUN & WORK are very compatible.

Andrew C. Henderson, NV

Subjects Taught

Banjo, Classical Guitar, Flamenco Guitar, Guitar, Mandolin, Music Performance, Music Recording, Music Theory, Songwriting, Ukulele

About Me

Andrew earned an honors "Associate of Arts in Performance (Guitar)" degree from Musicians Institute in Los Angeles, in October 2008. This environment allowed him to learn directly from the best contemporary music players and teachers in the world, as well as be exposed to the music and entertainment industry, first-hand, right away as a student. After graduation he spent nine months in Los Angeles playing at local clubs and teaching, as well as playing a handful of live radio broadcasts. He then took a gig as a show/orchestra musician with Holland America Cruises. The orchestra was also responsible for playing party/dance sets around the pool areas and in other lounges. After eight contracts during a 3.5 year period, he did two more with Royal Caribbean/Celebrity Cruises. On a daily basis, the gig entailed receiving music from a new entertainer in the afternoon, having a one-hour rehearsal, then playing the show twice, later that evening. During his spare time, Andrew taught himself ukulele, mandolin, and banjo, and completed process of being added to the on-call database for Cirque du Soleil. The cruise experiences took him to over 70 countries while working with people from a very large variety of cultures and backgrounds, and also put him under significant pressure on a daily basis, often with new/replacement musicians embarking and disembarking each cruise. After arriving in Las Vegas in October 2013 he joined "The Las Vegas Goodfellas," a group fronted by three male singers that has been a regular fixture in the city for over 10 years, winning the LVRJ's "Best Band" award three times, and now regularly rotating between The Tuscany, Ballys, Green Valley Ranch, The Rampart, The Golden Nugget, The East Side and Craig Rd. Canneries, The Decatur Arizona Charlie's, Club Fortune, and Lake Las Vegas, including various private events at The Golden Nugget, LVH, Mob Museum, and a few other locations. Andrew began teaching music lessons in early December 2013 and since then has acquired 24 students ranging from ages 6 to 70, either in-studio or at various students' homes, and at a nationally-known music store in the area. They have included guitar(13), banjo(3), ukulele(7), and mandolin(1). Lessons will teach students the artistic, academic, and conceptual parts of music, as well as cover other professional-related topics if necessary.
